I agree with a lot of what was said here, but the stands were NOT packed. Section E was loosely filled and had empty spots, and D was the same. Still good attendence, but not densely packed because of rain. I was in Section E, row 13, seat 24. Not packed, lots of space. VERY friendly crowd.
You must be one of the people i was talking to, I was just a couple of rows in front of you, same seat number...discussed grunting to conquest?

Was brief and to the point. He is not tending to his duties and to them both, If she can't follow guidelines she should be relieved of her duties
I'm not saying she should not comply with the rules, but there are many ways to state the same message. Some ways are respectful and others are not. Generally speaking, the ones that are stated more respectfully tend to get more consideration while the disrespectful ones' validity tends to be dismissed rather quickly. in either case, typically the messages, whether respectful or not, tend to be responded to in the same manner.

I think it depends how it is said. One can state an objection intelligently without going into cut downs, name calling and negativity.

Have seen it live a few times- live.....The trampolines are more of a distraction that anything to me.
At least the trampolines were to the outside of the field, it made it easier for me to ignore.

I got that impression watching it on the FN last night. I don't think its dependent on seeing it live. What clued me in was the rhythm of the motion while in the air. They sequentially shoot across their arcs in a very nicely timed way.
Of all the visual gimmicks they did, I liked the frisbees. I bet they had fun learning the timing and spacing of those tosses. They had it down just right so each one went about the same distance, had the same arc, and timed off the previous one,
This much is true, I did notice that.

I know! What a hack Aaron Copland must have been to write a piece that has a narrator.
He didn't write it for an orchestra moving around a football field. The orchestra sits still.

It's hard to interpret unless you're seeing it live. The discs are shooting stars. They originate from each of the pods of horn players who are rippling those "flourishes" across the field. It's extremely cool and very difficult especially from the ensemble perspective.
I was their live, nobody understood the frisbees.

Primarily because in the GE captions, the actual writer of the caption required the judge in the written requiremrent of it,( and agreed to by all the Corps that all signed off on it), the GE Judge is asked to determine how the show effected HIM or HER alone. As such, the audience is a total non factor in any of the DCI captions.
That doesn't sound very general, now does it.

Upstate New Yorker. Corky Fabrizio did lots of great things for Corps up and around the Rochester, N.Y. region. He made his mark over on the DCA side of things for many many years there too.
The 27th Lancers had an instructor named Art Fabrizio who was from that area. Is he related to that family?

The pic of her worksite clothes from last nite probably shouldn't be depicted here. For example, if a pet is nearby the computer screen the poor thing might pee on the floor from sheer terror at the ghastly sight.

Just got home after a 3.5 hour drive...and 1 mile from my house a drunk driver in a SUV ran a red light and almost smashed into me...good thing I was paying attention.
anyway, i'll recap tomorrow but the main thing I wanted to say is....that was my first time seeing the Cadets this year, I was very excited to see them seeing as how they have been scoring well. All I have to say is I was bored off my a**, what a extremely boring show. The guy I brought with me, 2nd DCI show ever, but a very very good musician...hated it too. They had no passion, no drive and seemed flat to me. The only people cheering for them was their staff next to me at the top of the stadium. Most of the crowd didn't follow suit. Going on after the Coats hurt them...crowd reaction wise. I was waiting for that Drum line to show off a little, they did have that one solo snare part that was sick, but other than that were lost to me the whole show. VERY disappointed by this show. I don't care how clean they were, they were BORING. Sorry Cadets, its what I thought and saw in the crowds lack of reaction.
and for the record, get rid of the narrator...and just play some music, how much time could you have spent playing music rather than talking. sigh...
Absolutely agree. How is it that a corps that gets so little reaction wins General Effect?

It'd be a perfect show to follow the DCI-Minnesota show when its back next year. Short distance for the corps and fans to travel. Win-Win :)
This show is typically scheduled the night before Minnesota.

I didn't even notice her until you pointed her out.
I noticed her right away. I didn't know she was a judge at first. It reminded me of the Troopers instructor in Ypsilanti many years ago who ended up running onto the field to reset flags that were not in the right spots.

I agree. Do you think that they feel because they won last year they have to do things like this to try and outdo last year's show?

What is the point of the frisbees? I don't like them.
I don't like the trampolines either but a guess jet packs are too expensive!

He delivers it excellently and it fits the concept without overdoing it. Hardly an issue.
The narration interrupts the music. I can't stand a speaker telling a story with a 149 person backup. Huge distraction from what is going on with the field show.

I remember three years ago in Minneapolis when we were shoved in the bathrooms for the tornado warning.. now that was fun.. NOT.. LOL =P
We went to our car when it first started raining (for that round, there had been two other weather delays earlier). Wind and rain was ridiculous. As some people came to their cars we would roll down the window and ask if had been cancelled. At one point someone told us that all the kids were being told to get off their busses because it was too dangerous.
On a side note, when it was cancelled, we drove back to our hotel. About five minutes away we were at a red light when it started hailing and the wind was really whipping from directly behind the car. I looked at my friend in the passenger seat and said, "I don't know if you believe in God but this might be a good time to start praying." The light turned green, we went ahead about 50 feet and the wind was then coming directly from the side of the car. Circular motion? Were we in a tornado? We asked the hotel if there were any tornado warnings but they said that they had not heard of any so, to this day, I don't know.
