I believe the origins of the Blue Devil's name, as well as their concept is based on the original band "The Blue Devils", which was a small jazz ensemble in the Kansas City area in the late 30's. This was one of the most famous ensembles in that era, I do believe there is one Blue Devil still alive today. Most noted performers of that band followed Count Basie( who's drummer innovated playing time on the hi-hat ) to join Bennie Moten's Kansas City Orchestra. Word. Alexis Abril Colts 03-04
