I’m a Trooper alum but I’m not in the know about the inner workings of the corps. I presume this is based on a connection to the community band folks in Costa Rica and I also presume that they are looking for talent outside of the high school age range - folks who can likely be here during the school year in CR. And because it is a partnership with a group in CR I also presume there has been the offer of space and maybe even some cost deferment.
I think this is awesome and I hope it bears fruit.

Just quoting for two reasons:
1) Gotta like stuff about the home team, and
2) can we get back to the topic of staff announcements?
Gender stuff is worth talking about - but maybe in its own thread please?

I have never marched in DCI, but I always talk about my hich school's main rival.... Westfield...... still cringe when ever I say or type that schools name.
You went to Spring HS?!
That rivalry was well known in Houston. I went to Jersey Village a million years ago. We were never very good. (In the 1980s)

I truly don’t know what to say about that. That was a run locked in like I haven’t seen in ages. CROWN!!!! You killed it! Someone find me one flaw with that run!
I think that's a run that, if possible, would jump a place or two. It's all up to how the judges see the rest. I honestly haven't liked this Crown show much - until right this moment. That was EPIC.

If anyone caught the multi cam version during Gabriel's Oboe, the drumline behind the props hyping at the horns made me smile! That's what this is all about!

So, is anyone on the 50 a little bit bummed by how much of this Crown show is staged on the 35?

I'm betting Dan Potter is going to be getting some, um.... comments.

Madison, thank you so much for your energy and emotion. What a great way to end the season! Yes, I cried - it's the end of an era and I can't wait to see what 2020 brings for you!

Got back just in time to see some very emotional faces from Troopers at the end.
Yep. Got me having a dust in my eye moment myself. I remember that feeling all too well. Love you, Troop. Great last performance!

Congratulations Genesis on a really fabulous and mature show performed really well. Proud to have you representing my town!

The horns on the props is still one of my favorite things in DCI this year. So emotional and beautiful!

Wow Legends! I hadn't had a chance to see it. Glad to have seen this really emotional performance of a good show!

I haven't done any hard looking at their design and instruction team. Am I the only one getting a strong BD circa 2001-2007 vibe? (I pulled those numbers kind of out of the air, but that's what my gut said) The show design, the horn writing, some of the pit transitional material, and the way they march and stage all feels super familiar.

Pac Crest impressed me from my first viewing way back in June. This show has really held together well, and they have done a great job cleaning and selling it. Love the guard uniforms!

I love Madison. I've loved them since I started marching in 1983. I enjoy the high voltage sound and the drill. And I know that their show, along with Troopers, is an "old school" kind of show. And while the placements may not be what they wanted, I'm so glad the crowd was eating up what Madison was serving. (at least it sounded like it on Flo)
I know that next year is going to be a whole new world for both Troopers and Madison, and I'm excited to see where both corps take it. Can't wait to see how things shake out tomorrow night!

Not bad, Troop! Although sparkly clean and masterfully performed, that run felt quite safe & sterile. I found my attention wandering a lot even though I've really enjoyed the show all season.
Agreed Jake - they've done an excellent job cleaning this show and making it really come together. Flo Marching seems to adjust their levels too often so it seems uneven at home, but I think it's probably a lot better on site.

HOOOOOOO TROOOOOOP! Let's go!

I really love this part of Genesis' show! (horns on the props) Beautiful, horns!

None of these corps have a show tomorrow. Why can't they do a rain delay show tomorrow? I know they will be thrown off in their scheduling, but aren't they resilient enough to deal with that?
Housing, Is my guess.

I wonder if anyone has the stats on how often this show has been delayed or rained out over the years? I know it’s been at least twice in my recent memory. It’s such a shame - such a great venue for both the performers and the audience. Go away rain!

Had a curious question when watching the corps this past Sunday. I personally don't remember ever seeing a female drum major for the corps(I could be totally wrong). My question is, "If this is the first female drum major they have ever had did that play play into changing the uniforms and more importantly the drum major's uniform?" Over the years I remember the corps changing the uniforms in some way, but the DM never changed.
Just curious and not here to create some conspiracy theories.
I have no information to offer at all, but here's my take on it: It makes it easier to do a major uniform transition because of the difference in gender on the podium. I love my corps, and I loved when I marched. I'm so glad they've taken this step. It's been a long time coming. Now it's time to actually do more and push forward.

Am I the only person who hears a lot of BD influence in Pac Crest's show? (In a good way) Especially noticeable in the percussion transitions, including the electronics, and some of the brass.

MADISON SCOUTS City of Angels: 1991 vs 1992
in DCI World Class Corps Discussions

92 by far is my favorite of the two. More than that, 92 Madison is one of my all time favorite drum corps shows. The entire thing is just so good, but the drum break, horn reentry, and tempo pick up to the end gets my heart racing every time!
