  2. The short story - severe engine trouble. So much so that we had to rent a U-haul somewhere in West Virginia. We had to leave the truck and the trailer up there. The BOD is devising a plan to go pick up the trailer. Unsure of what to do with the truck. What a week. And it is only Monday!

put Ol yellar up on craig's list in the area where it broke down. Trade it to someone willing to bring the trailer back to Fla. Time for another vehicle. That truck paid for itself 3x over but it is probably time to say goodbye.

  3. The corps is finally awake from the Dinosaur BBQ induced coma. The food there was amazing! Many of our members have never been to an I&E and now they are now forever fans. Two of our percussion members, Ben and Travis, both performed in the percussion duets and took 4th place their first time ever in I&E.

We will be doing a music rehearsal at our hotel at 9:30am. Stop by and say hi before we go to Prelims. Probably one more update before we head over to the stadium.

It has been an awesome season.

I heard from two people who attended prelims in Rochester. Both said Sun Devils did a great show. They were a bit taken back that SD did not make finals. Hey gotta pay your dues in DCA. Hang tough Devils and know the folks back home support you 100%.

  4. Any interesting "views" JJ? I remember one bus ride a few years ago and you enjoyed the "sights."

    Keith,

SD looked great at the home show. Since you're on the left coast of Fla. what say you help next year with some support stuff? I will help from the this side of the state. You could cut open that old mattress full of $ for starters.

    GO DEVILS !!!

JJ let the corps know we are pulling for them.

  5. Whoa man, they came out of the sun. Never saw this coming.

Is this a start from scratch group or a reencarnation of Heat Wave? Not taking anything away from this appearantly steller corps, I'm just really curious how this thing got off the ground so quickly and now is on the attack.

Yes, I know, plain hard work. There has to have been some planned and lucky breaks on the way.

I've found this activity really soaks up the money and you really don't get going very fast on just a couple cylinders.

I thought High Country was doing well but this is a little unreal.

Good going guys, looks like Sun Devils may be the up and coming "Big Boy" of the South".

Sun Devils have made the first show. We all realize there is a great deal left to do. Thanks all !!

  6. Never - except for the 5 miles around Summersville who keep the perpetual speed trap going. Even AAA marks their trip tics with a huge 'speedtrap' stamp in that area. WV just seems slow because you are in it for so long.

Nine hours Greenville to Pittsburgh - eight if I am by myself and don't have to make so many pit stops.

Congrats Sun Devils - looking forward to seeing you in the South shows!

The clip on the web site looks cool. Keith shoildn't you be palying a sop?

    Nice Job Sun Devils

  7. This weekend was HOTT!! Really, it was! Even the people wearing sun screen still showed it at the end of the day. This was a fun camp, and I cant wait to put more drill on the field, and start getting down to bidness. They always say there's no fun in drum corps, but that only counts for rehearsal.

I know the time not spent in rehearsal, getting to just spend time with my fellow Sun Devils, is the main factor bringing me back to EVERY camp.

This corps has a positive attitude that just spews from all of our members, it makes working hard not seem hard when that many people are right with you doing the same thing, and we're all there for each other if they ask. Sometimes even if they don't.

This corps is a family, and I would love to welcome more new faces at the next camps, I'd hate to see anyone miss out on an amazing experience.

    Fellow Sun Devils,

Awesome rehearsal this weekend, I'm sure I'm not the only one that felt the sun's wretched evilness come sundays drive home. We worked hard this weekend, but I hope next weekend we work even harder, we'll get to do more drill. I cant wait to see more on the field, and of course getting to hang out with all of you guys again!

    LEAVE NO DOUBT!

I will stop by a May rehearsal. Nice Job all.

  8. :juggle: Just woke up and cannot move... just kidding just very stiff...but happy.

    Again what a great weekend.

    GO SUN DEVILS

    Leave No Doubt!

I'm just a stodgy old board member of SD so I may be bias. However, the corps is putting out some good stuff. DCA has been stepping up standards of late so nothing is a guarantee.

It has been an incredible journey thus far. For those of you who have followed the drama of the plug being pulled on Gasparilla up to where Sun Devils is a few short months later you know this is truly an amazing story. This was made possible by a group of people that love the drum corps activity.

  9. Hello everyone in drum corps land!

The Sun Devils are in the process of starting a uniform fund for the corps this year.

We are asking for your help to make our new uniform a reality

The cost of the uniforms is $12K.

There is a slight urgency to get this going due to manufacturer time of 120 days which puts us into July before we would receive them. A Paypal account has been set up, just click the "make a donation" button on the ride side of the front page of our website. Or you can access it directly by clicking here

    Checks may be sent to:

    P.O. Box 4427

    Orlando, FL 32802-4427

Here are some pictures of the new Sun Devils uniform.

  10. The website didnt mention openings or wanting new members douchbag. (i found that curious)and wanted more info(mybe all the spots were filled genius).not needing to be begged at all.

Given you arent even affiliated with Sun Devils you seem to be a cry for help.(get help)

You are a piece of work my low IQ friend.

  12. In order to bring All-Age Corps to all of Florida...The Sun Devils will hold their next camp in historic St. Augustine!

The camp will be held at St. Augustine HS, March 8th & 9th. The Sun Devils would like to express our most gracious thanks to Laura Beard, band director, and congratulate the marching band on their finals appearance at FMBC State Championships! :whip:

This past weekend was a huge success for the Sun Devils as we added the front ensemble and guard to the mix. We ensembled the 1st Mvt. Saturday night and Sunday afternoon with the entire music ensemble.

Things are shaping up nicely with 7snares, 3 tenors, 5 bass, 4 cymbals, 5 front ensemble. Looking for 5 more front ensemble.

Horn line is growing again. We picked up several new players, including a couple DCI finalists who can't afford the tour fees again this year, so they are here. We are looking to fill this line out to 30 horns for this year.

Guard is in the middle of competition season, but we would like 15 on the field this year.

We should have our new uniform mock up at this camp, courtesy of Stanbury!

Sun Devils would also like to announce our 1st endorsement deal with Vic Firth!!! Our percussion staff was unanimous in this decision to endorse Vic Firth exclusively!

Everyone is welcome to show up and check us out.

    John Hoekstra

    Executive Director

    Florida Sun Devils
