An Employment Announcement: The Brigadiers Music Association (the BMA) is beginning the process of interviewing qualified/interested candidates for Corps Director of the Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps (the Brigadiers.) The BMA is an Educational Organization which provides settings of learning and enlightenment for teens,adults, and adult educators in the pageantry arts. Many of the most successful pageantry arts educators in the Northeast are alumni of the Brigadiers Organizations. And, as a drum corps known for its "Entertain the Audience. Period!" approach, The Brigadiers has been one of the most successful all-age drum and bugle corps in history. The process will begin with a call for interested candidates to forward their resumes listing professional and pageantry arts experience, and to answer a long-form employment questionnaire below. The successful candidate will be chosen for his/her well defined, professional strengths, vision, and drive to lead the Brigadiers into its future! The successful candidate will not only be the public spokesperson of the corps, but will need to be: · A motivated planner and self-starter; · An authoritative leader willing to hear opposing views, and make hard decisions; · A very well organized individual able to motivate others to accomplish timely goals; · Able to communicate ideas in an easily understandable manner; · Able to delegate tasks to those (s)he has hired; · Able to work within a budget to accomplish the corps' goals; · Able to work under the auspices of an active Board of Directors; and · A resident of New York State by December of 2011. Questionnaire: Please take as much room as you need to fully answer the following questions: (Do not submit your answers here!) 1) Why did you decide to seek the Corps Director Position with the Brigadiers? Answer: 2) What would be your long and short range goals and objectives for the corps? Answer: 3) How do you plan to achieve these goals? Please be very specific. Answer: 4) The Brigadiers Music Association is primarily an educational organization. How important is it to you to provide a rich, educational experience for members? How would this be accomplished? Answer: 5) Recruitment is one of the most important aspects of a successful drum corps. What ideas do you have on this and how would you implement them? (Please also consider the recruitment of volunteers in your answer.) Answer: 6) Why should the Brigadiers hire you for the Corps Director position? Answer: The purpose of this questionnaire is to better get to know you and the strengths of your candidacy for the position of Corps Director of The Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps. Your considered answers will give us a wealth of information about you which simply can't be ascertained from a resume and a cover letter. As the Corps Director will guide the future of the entire organization and its reputation in the community, your answers are crucial to the hiring process. This questionnaire format will give candidates the opportunity to speak at length about their strengths, philosophy, and vision. All candidates' resume and questionnaire packages will be fairly examined by the Brigadiers Music Association's Selection Committee in order to find the candidate that best fits the organization's needs. This is an amazing accomplishment for our performers and for our corps. Anyone who was ever a Brigadier is proud of you tonight! Those of us who know you personally cannot help but Love you and our amazing educators for the people you are. For what you all gave of yourselves in our name. Friday, 4/8/2011, 8:13PM: The Brigadiers just performed at the WGI World Color Guard Championships Finals in Dayton, OH. I think they did really well based on my Live Feed! I'm so proud of them! AND SO, IT BEGINS.... The Brigadiers Winterguard is on their way to Dayton, OH for the WGI World Championships! We saw them off this AM. They look ready to impress! Tomorrow, Thursday, April 7th, they compete in Prelims at 10:20 AM. Over the next couple of days I'm going to be quasi-tweetinghere on DCP. That is to say, I'm going to update everyone on their progress in very few characters much more often than usual. So, when you see this thread on the top of the pile in this forum, something is new.
