  2. Look for the corner of LeMoyne Avenue and Factory Avenue and you won't be able to miss the VFW. We counted 85 extraordinary raffles including some major packages tonight when we pre-prepared the room! WOW! The Love for the Geswaldos is universal. I hope you can all make it. 3. As many of you know, our friend and long-time Brigadier, Joe Geswaldo, is waging a serious battle with lung cancer. Many have asked what they can do to help Joe and his family as he battles cancer. The Geswaldo family has always put others before themselves. Their kindness has reached innumerable people including the Drum Corps, Winter Guard and Marching Band Communities, and Make-A-Wish Foundation. Family and friends have created this benefit in honor of Joe and his family. We want to help lighten their burden in these trying times. To raise funds, donations will be voluntarily taken at the door and dozens and dozens of truly amazing Raffles can be bid on! There's three bands, food, a set by the Brigadiers Alumni Corps, spectacular raffles, and most important, a chance to show the Geswaldos how much we love them. The list of people that will be there is truly a Who's Who of the Drum Corps and Pageantry Arts Community as well as Friends and Family of Joe, Sandy, Kristen, and Rob! The "Going" list is impressive! See it here: Benefit Facebook . 5. On a personal note, the one positive thing about these events is to read the well wishes from you. The Brigadiers family so appreciates it and is heartened by them. Scott Mescon Brigadiers 1993-
  6. Announcement: The Executive Board of the Brigadiers Music Association would like begin a process that will set the record straight on the 2012 season. The announcement that the Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps will be returning to the competitive field in 2012 was premature and unauthorized. A small contingent of interested persons was responsible for putting out this announcement before the proposed Corps budget was even voted on, a necessary step in the process. By a unanimous vote of the Board, the budget was voted down because it represented an unacceptable risk of failure. The vote was also unanimous not to field the competitive corps in 2012. There is always a conflict between people who just want to see the corps on the field and those of us who have to determine whether there are enough long-term resources to do it. Those responsible were told by the Board to take down the announcements but remarkably, they would not. Now, the Board is put in a position to balance a disappointing public announcement against the future of the corps. We have always maintained our determined interest in returning to the field, to do it in a way fitting the storied history and tradition of the Brigadiers... and to do it in a financially responsible manner. Since the corps went inactive about a year and a half ago, each of us has worked to secure a long-term future for the Corps so the name of the corps and the very idea of The Brigadiers would continue past our first year back. And the budget issues were not all. We also took into account the poor state of the national economy, the high price of gasoline and travel, and high unemployment among younger members and their parents. These factors and others made 2012 probably the worst year to bring an ambitious corps back from the brink. So, where are we now? This small contingent of persons continues to act in what they think is in the corps' interest. As a board tasked with protecting the longevity of the Brigadiers, we have no choice but to terminate the Director of this small group from any formal position with the corps. We hope that this incident hasn't done irreparable damage to The Brigadiers. What about 2012? Well, in addition to the return to the WGI Championships floor of our now Open Class Brigadiers Winterguard -- which took 6th place last year in Dayton -- we're hoping to add a very serious DCA Championships Mini-Corps to our group at Annapolis! Also, this summer to put money in the bank, we're planning to do a limited rehearsal and parade schedule on Memorial Day and the 4th of July. These will be BrigsBusTrips and should be a gas! All those interested in wearing the Brigadiers' uniform, once again, please sign up soon! Finally, the Brigadiers Music Association Executive Board would like to apologize for the public airing of this information. It's regrettable. It became necessary by recent events. Any official announcements will be made only by BMA Board Member and spokesperson, Scott Mescon. More information to follow if it becomes necessary. 12. Folks! This venue is one of the best drum corps venues to play in. It's a beautiful turf stadium and the concessions are right below the stands so you don't have to walk a far piece to get your hot dog or pizza. By the way, the food concession area is run by, and solely benefits the Cicero-North Syracuse Winterguard Programs. We usually have a vendor for marching equipment under there as well! Empire and Hurricanes will go head to head at this late season show! Come join us! Scott Mescon Brigadiers 1993- GO BRIGS!!!
  13. The weather looks good. Drum Corps conversation in the stands, in the isles. Seeing old friends. Can't wait! Scott Mescon Brigadiers 1993-

  15. Calling all Brigs supporters! If you've been thinking of ways to help or assistThe Brigadiers in their return to health, please consider a leap of faith that can be undertaken by fans from home. Please consider buying ticketsfor Pageant of Drums by going to brigadiers.com in the next few days. We've just added secure credit card processing to our website and we're selling tickets that way! Listen, the point here is that there are Brigs fans everywhere and not all of them can come to the show. But, that shouldn't stop a fan from buying some tix to support the corps. We'll hold them at the "will-call" area for you to pick up or not pick up. Let's see what happens! You can help! Scott Mescon Brigadiers 1993-
