I'd love to see a show based on Christopher Tin's music. There's some really interesting stuff in his newest song cycle, The Drop that Contained the Sea, and Baba Yetu could be really interesting.
Sun Devils (DCA) did Baba Yetu in 2009 & it became the corps song.

Cost, cost and the economy. Otherwise looks pretty healthy to me.

Camp Randall....oh yes! (Madison, 85-87, 92, 99, 02, 06)
That there is hallowed drum corps ground. :)

I LOVE The Cadets theme this year.
Wouldn't it be funny if it came down to The Cadets & SCV this year...Good & Evil(ish) LOL

SCV 2011 Show just posted:

If they weave this together with strong music, visual & an amazing story this could be a medal year for SCV.

IMO these labels are applied to any show that has a 'moody or brooding piece' anywhere in it. To me if a show is called 'dark' the whole show should be woven with the theme. The epitome of the dark show, is, of course, Phantom Regiment 1996.

One thing I noticed watching the 1980 video yesterday - Phantom has only 6 Contras on the field. In this day and age of marching up to 20 Tubas, I thought this was really low. It looks like 6 to 8 Contras is the norm for that era.
Even taking into account that the membership limit has increased by 23 members since then, in some cases the largest portion of the increase has gone to the Tuba section.
Alot of the shows were top heavy, with emphasis on the horn line, and specifically sops. Ah the days of the scream demons.

What would you say is the most famous show ever?

Since corps have gone "fashion forward," & since the military look is back in fashion why don't some of the corps go back for military feeling uni's next year?
P.S. Thank you Cadets for staying true to your look. <3

Star '90 - "Oh my God, the baby's burning!" The most classic of all fan-calling.
88 Cavies recording wouldn't be the same without the one guy & a few others just "yelling" nothing in particular, just "yelling" in the beginning. It really lends to the ominous feel of the music.
We've played this game before but I can't find the thread now. :)

It's for the kids. Let it stay that way. We have DCA, and it's better than ever. (no dis on the kids, work yo thang! ;) )

6 93.500 Phantom Regiment Romeo and Juliet - Romeo and Juliet Amazon
I bet she was a real monster! LOL j/k
1988 had the better all around top 12. Amazing shows, top to bottom. My all-time fave show was from '87 (care to guess? ).

Maybe the point here is that while disgruntled with the activity as a whole, it is our favorite corps that bring us back, not the governing body. (Or, more specifically, the HISTORY of our favorite corps that keeps us coming back.)

oh, and I still want Regiment to do "V for Vendetta." In black. With, of course, 1812 Overture.
I DARE The Cadets to re-create the moon landing. Seriously.
To any corps (all corps) BRING BACK THE CORPSGASM!!!!!!!! please?
Scouts should do that voodoo that they do so well.
Vanguard, please, pretty please, tell us a story again...bring the story to life like you use to. You were the best storytellers of any corps. And a little of that old magic again wouldn't hurt.
To any designers out there, we don't want you to re-create the old shows, we just want you to re-create the FEELING those shows had. :)

I would love to see BD do a show titled, "Unforgettable." The ballad, of course, the Irving Gordon standard. Play it lush, loud & stirring. The rest of the show should be just as "Unforgettable."
:)

Especially in light of the fact that they apparently have time to go trolling through youtube submitting copyright violations on videos...
They do every year after finals like clockwork.

Madison Scouts
BTW, I think BD's show is awesome this year, and I'm not always a fan of theirs. The best designed, IMO, well performed & it's entertaining despite it's craziness.

Awhile ago there was a thread where ppl posted pics of their tats.

BUT Wisconsin has you beat as far as Mosquitos are concerned. I think it is their state bird.
ha ha that's what they say in arkansas. they are HUGE there & will tear your a** up!

I've seen the new Pioneer uniform. Think Cadets in white, orange and green.
That would be like putting a Cadets pic in photo shop & doing reverse color negative. lol

Everyone is a critic. I will never forget a sourpuss in front of me at the Little Rock, AR show in 1990. He actually turned around and told me how bad Vanguard sucked as I cheered for them. Real sweetheart, that one.

I'm REALLY excited about Madison. No matter where they place this will be the show of the year.
