Stu, are you sure Mandarins sold them? I was at the hall a few weeks ago, and they were still there. Maybe just not picked up?? Humm. I can ask around Sac for you, but Mandarins are the only ones I know that have flowers. I would let you borrow some of my gazzillion silks, but nothing flower like...

Ok I have a quick question. Which type of rifle is better Elite or Spinz and what size 36 or 39? I have no clue. As for the saber what brand and size do I need...I am just starting out on saber as soon as I get one. Thanks for the helping!!
I use the Elite Rifles at 39". I like the size and feel of a bigger rifle for my students, and the Elite is what they spin. I personally have a Premire rifle at 39", which I love. The Elite was more economical for my guard.
To anyone out there, my recomendation, DO NOT purchase the spinz rifle. It is a poorly made product. I had ordered some a few years ago for another school I taught at and the Spinz rifles lasted all of a month before they broke at the neck... all the way through. And before you ask, yes, they were taped... It was a waste of money, because they would not replace broken rifles. Just my two cents.
As for saber, I have spun the excalibur and the king. We got a set of Kings last year due to a grant that we got, and I won't ever go back. They are well balanced, have a life time warrenty, and are worth the extra cash. We spin the 39", but I am sure the 36" is just as good.

Vince V. Rocks My Socks! I am so excited for the chance to march for him again. Reneguard, you are in for a treat! Vince is awesome!

Any return of RCR to the field under the current management (Tracy Freeman) will not include at least the entire horn line and most if not all of the battery. I cannot speak for the front ensemble and guard, but I know of a few that will never return under Tracy and that is probably true for the majority of those sections.
I do not see this as being about scavenging or ruthlessly recruiting for the Renegades. I see this as the Renegades letting us know that we are welcome if we choose to march there. I for one plan to fully support the Renegades even though I will not be marching this season.
I can only speak for myself, but as a guard member of RCR for the past two seasons, I have to say that I just want to march and spin a flag, and hate saber work for another summer. I will be at the open house on saturday for the Renegades... but it may be a pipe dream this season due to school. I do really miss my RCR buddies though! :(

I think the fact that a drum corps audience is largely opposed to its use is due to the fact that is IS new to the activity, and corps are just now figuring out how to use it - therefore the quality of narration and its use is in its infantile stages. Like it or not, it IS innovative, even if marching bands have been using it for years: drum corps have always done things at a different level than marching bands. Here, the main difference between band and corps is the disposition of the audience.
Corps is what it is. For me, I saw plenty of fantastic shows with narration, and plenty of fantastic shows without. I, for one, welcome variety.
Amen.
Doesn't matter what side of the fence you are on. You may like it, you may not. But this goes out to all those people who tried their darndest to ruin my first ever finals night.
I have never seen the Cadets live. Nope, not once. I am a west coast fan, and spent my hard earned money on my Finals tickets. Did I like their show, not really. But I kept my mouth shut, applauded those kids when it was deserved. Those people, which I am pretty sure frequent this forum, should be ASHAMED of themselves for being POOR excuses for drum corps fans. Booing, yelling and screaming at the performers to "Shut Up!" not only ruins it for the performers, but for all the other people that shelled out their money to see the show. You are just as bad as people who talk on their cell phone in a movie theater. What a horrible way to represent the west coast the ONE time that DCI deems us worthy of finals.
Shame on you.

Thank you so much for the review. It's nice to see someone actually giving the first few corps out on the field more than a two sentence review!
I <3 Mandarins!

Good luck... it's a lot of hard work, but will be worth it, I am sure! :)

It aint over yet kid... :sshh:
I know... the fat lady hasn't sung just yet... :sshh:

Having Mandarins 21st is a little harsh, don't you think?
They did have a BAD show, from what I hear, but 21st overall... that doesn't really jibe with me. I think they have the potential to take Pacific Crest if they can start attacking in their performance level. 3 weeks to go. We shall see! :)

Any and ALL guard sectionals... anyone would be hard pressed to find a guard that had as much fun as we did these last two seasons! I don't think I have ever laughed so hard! :P

Standing in the guard circle at Modesto and holding hands, knowing that it was our last time... and then KICKING BUTT!
Sashe, Pase, Air Tour... (we still have to make up that drink!)
"You better GET IT"
I am going to miss you guys! :(

Dang it. No speakers here at work! <**>
Good luck at the big show Renegades and Dream. Remember that West is Best, and that there are 32ish NorCal folks pulling for you at DCA.
:)

hahhaa...nope..have never seen any Harry Potter.
But the kid who plays Harry is just so dang cute! (hears Mrs. Robinson playing)
-
Never fear... :)

Hint to the Mandarins
...bring back the Dragon..that kicked butt!
It was in the Friday show in Elk Grove and missing from Sunnyvale/Modesto.
...put your 3 congo players in a more visiable spot, they give your show some uniqueness, they are crunched in with the Pit now.
Ah... I think you mean the TIKO players? Congo and Tiko are very different... even I know that, and I am a guard person! :P
-
I also did not get to see Dream, as we were in stand by... but I do know that the horn line and percussion were gellin' like magellon, and the color guard was ON FIRE! ^0^
-
The two X's... I forgot about that! That's just wrong to confuse a very confusable person! 'Specialy since I had to split the 50 at the end of the opener... I want some of what the person marking the field was having! :P
-
After rehearsal yesterday, I felt really good about our show and we went out and left it all on the field! It was a pleasure to march on that field with all the members of RCR this season. Just sad that it had to end so soon! :(
-
I loved First Contact! That is a very pretty theme. I love the movie, and am glad that Dream used it in their show!
:)

Phasing problems within the corps, at least feet wise, might be due to the fact that the field at Fremont High School is just plain TERRIBLE! Pot holes and sprinkler heads and ruts for yard lines. I was VERY worried about twisting an ankle on Saturday!
PS- Love Mandarins. They are going to be on FIRE by finals week! VK- You guys are the little engine that could! I loved your energy! BDC- Sugar rush as normal! And RCR, no matter what, you know I love you. Congrats on the Modesto show! YOU BETTER GET IT! :P
-
We were supposed to wear black and white, but ended up in all black... well, sort of!
No worries. We will have our uniforms for Showdown next week!
-
It still gets me. They put BDC and the Sr. Corps on first out here... and these are the corps most likely to pass out from over heating than the Jr. Corps! Geez. But I do wear my sunglasses at night... West Coast Show Down June 29th!
I worry about my Renegades friends. From what I hear, Vampires don't do so well in sunlight! :P
-
Stealth Mode : /off
Hype Machine: /armed
More like Scream Machine:/armed. :P
-
We are still here, and working very hard! Opener and Ballad are on the field with guard work and drill!
DCA, here we come! :P

Give it up for the *bump*

I have to be honest and say that the first thing I thought of when I saw their show at the Ceres regional... was, LOST. The thought of Jacob in that cabin in a rocking chair jumped into my mind. Though, I may just be obsessed with LOST.
Loved the show! No flags... Awesome!
