  1. I think that Sac does something that many guards are missing today. They actually spin...they do more than just dance around with equipment with a few tricks thrown in. They are famous for the difficult hand to hand combination phrases, especially on sabre.

  2. Why does everyone keep saying that we are losing corps. We have more world class corps now than we had 15 years ago. We have lost many Div 2 / 3 corps but on the world class front things are about the same now as they were in 1994. In 1994 we only had 19 competitive world class corps. In 2009 we should have 23.

  3. Blessed Sac 2009 - Love Trust Commitment

    Description found online

Remember the first time you saw Blessed Sacrament perform...

There is a storage room in a parish hall in Cambridge.

Step inside and you will see flag poles of bronze and silver eagle heads.

Some draped with American legion or VFW banners.

You'll find rifles with leather straps and triggers.

Sabres and scabbards...shakos and plumes...boots and gloves.

Guitars, Taxi Cabs, hoola-hoops and a telephone.

Portraits of Marilyn Monroe and Humphrey Bogart.

Then there are shelves full of trophies and plaques.

Some dating as far back as the 1930's and 40's

You'll feel like you are rummaging through an attic of a rooming house home to a drill team turned colorguard now signing up for it's 64th year.

One that has delivered 29 consecutive WGI performances, and has ranked in the top five 16 times out of the past 23 years.

A cadet guard, a prep guard, a celebrated World Guard and proud alumni.

Generations of Love, Trust and Commitment.

  4. I agree about the poster "Russian Spy". This is not the first thread started by this person that has hinted at negative gossip about people within the activity. Please come out from behind your screen name and stop hiding.

The actions taken by this person had no impact on the students and did not put them in danger. With that being said it is really none of our business.

  5. Prior to amped pits many keyboard percussion players used a technique similiar to "pounding" on the instruments using full arm strokes instead of proper wrist technique. My college percussion instructor urged me not to perform with drum corps in the early nineties because he said it would ruin my technique. I marched anyway, just in a different section.

  6. I think a judge would be correct if they told a corps that they could score higher if they switched to B flat horns. It helps with intonation. A judge would also be correct if they told a corps that they could score higher with an amped pit as the players would be playing with better technique. I also think a judge would be correct if they told a corps that they could score higher with a full tour as more performances equal a higher comfort level with the performers and more time to tweak the details based on audience reaction and judges feedback.

I don't think a judge would promise a higher score, however they are simply offering suggestions that will improve the overall product.

  7. Keeping in mind the rules

    1-Only 1 show per guard

2-Only 3 shows from each year
