  1. unfortunately the trend for success in the Scholastic World class is to find your niche and stick to. Bishop Kearney stuck to the same formula for 5 years with different costumes and props and was rewarded for it. James Logan stuck to a formula for the first 8 years and was rewarded for it. Don't get me wrong I loved every single show that both of these guards put out...however they were all very similiar.

I applaud guards like Avon and Center Grove who re-invent themselves every year. It makes things more interesting.

  2. Just to start, I never marched Phantom or have been affiliated with them.

In my opinion as a guard designer Phantom has been under-scored in the last 3 seasons. They have had one of the best designed, best performed and cleanest guard programs ever since Adam Sage took the reigns. If I was judging I would have given them top guard honors.

Adam is known for working with a top notch team. I am sure that even with the exit of a few staff members they will be replaced with new staff equally strong or even better.

  3. This question has bothered me for years. I do not think that a guard that can throw sevens is an A guard. In fact I would not expect an Open Guard to be able to throw a seven.

The problem is that year after year we continue to see guards in A class finals performing Open Class skills.

Perfect evidence of this is the number of guards that WGI promoted from A to Open this year. One of the criteria for promotion is skills performed at the level of the next highest class.

  4. I have a 39" Elite and love the way it spins. My students have had troubles with them breaking very easily. I also find that the straps snap often. I also have a 39" Premier rifle. It is much heavier but more durable.
