Just received my cd set today...
So they're just struggling with the digital downloads for some reason....
-
Any idea when these things are going to be shipped/released? Struggling to figure out what the delay is in uploading the audio files to marchingmusicdownloads.com.
-
I'm sure this has been answered on DCP somewhere, I'm just too doped on on DayQuil to search:
Do these edits effect just the blurays/DVDs or the CD/digital audio as well?
Thanks in advance.

That is pretty big news. The question now is who benefits more on the release, The Cadets or the LB Foundation?
I don't know that it's a question of who benefits. It just is what it is.

Whats the west side story behind this ?
The person they had negotiated the contract with at LB's foundation is no longer there. From what I understand, they bought the Cadets out of their obligation for the next two years, including the arrangement with the NY Philharmonic.

Heard Cadets will *not* be continuing with their Bernstein contract.

I wouldn't limit it to just this past year. And I'm not sure it has to do with the energy of the field show. I'm talking about the overall perception of the corps. Cavies are certainly regaining the mojo they lost when Gaines left. BD hasn't missed a step. SCV still carries the mantle of DCI's classiest act. Crown and Bloo are relative newcomers to the top, but have some #### long souvie lines.
I just don't get the sense from Cadets anymore that people are excited about them.

I'm curious what the general perception of the corps is in younger eyes. I've certainly lost some of the awe that first got me hooked on them in the 90s. But when we show quarter-finals to our marching band kids at band camp, the response seems generally tepid from them as well.
I know that's not the case for the Cadet MMs, so they are drawing interest. It just seems like the air around the corps has grown stale to a degree, while that around Bloo, Crown, BD, SCV, and even Cavies is more electric.
Is that an issue, or am I seeing things that aren't there? If so... how do they get their swagger back?

Just wanted to drop in and say THANK YOU to everyone for using our app this summer! We had some growing pains and we appreciate you sticking with us as we sorted out the issues. We've got some changes planned for the off-season that should improve both the performance and reliability of the app. Looking forward to the 2018 season. See you then!
No, thank YOU guys for an awesome app. Excited to see what you bring to the table for next season!

Yeah, that's 'kinda the point. The Cadets might be better not using a single-work theme for the entire production. There's plenty to pick from. Chose as you like. Just keep it melodic, somewhat familiar, not obscure, nor "science project" type explorations.
I see what you're saying (sorry... coffee hasn't kicked in yet).
I'd like for 2018 to be a settling-in year for the team, but I'm not sure I see that happening.

Why not pieces from several Bernstein works? A few visual vignettes to match sprinkled in.
Nope.
Bernstein has plenty of material to pull from. Cadets need to put something new on the field.
I know... crazy thought.

WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER WEST SIDE STORY FROM CADETS.
This.
We do not need a fourth interpretation of WSS from the Cadets.

Cadets drop 5 tenths.
BK up 8 tenths.
6 tenths from 8th place.

Waiting for the numbers to reward this corps- they deserve it! Not trying to diminish what the Crusaders are accomplishing, but Cadets have a show far ahead of it's time. The brass score and visual proficiency scores especially confused me last night. I majored in music education and trumpet performance and have been following the activity year round for a long time, and frankly I don't see how BAC, Cavaliers, BK, and PR outscored this hornline. But alas, these are just numbers, and what I witnessed in the theater is probably my favorite drum corps show in long time, maybe my favorite ever (I've been following since 2003).
Congrats Cadets, keep pushing!
I'm curious what you feel is ahead of it's time with regards to this show.

BD is clean and they are selling the crap out of this show. Not my favorite of theirs, but they're undeniable in their ability to write and perform to the sheets.
I want SCV, but don't see how it happens.

I know we want this thread to get to 1000 pages before finals...but arguing over laundry?
The blue devils and SCV have members in the performers showcase today. They are in 1st and 2nd place and I don't see anybody flaming them.
Speaking of, where/when is that being held?

Exactly. There's no conspiracy. The judges have awarded the Cadets what they have deserved throughout history. They are a 7th place corps.
I wonder if Hoppy's going to have doves released and pass around collection plates at finals. Jesus (no pun intended) this show is so literal. It's way too much.
Based on the number of fundraising emails I've received from him, I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

Hi everyone. Let me start by apologizing for the errors last night. We never like to report incorrect information. When errors do occur, we try to resolve them quickly. Unfortunately, there are some things out of our control and last night was one example of that. We are a small team of 2 people and while we always try to check scores as they come in, sometimes life gets in the way.
We appreciate everyone's patience as the app has gone through some growing pains this season. This year's app was our biggest update yet and with a lot of new features/content came a lot of unexpected issues. The app has taken off way beyond what we could have imagined when this project started 3 years ago. This year alone the app has been opened over 3 million times, we've sent over 500,000 push notifications, and users have made thousands of posts made to the forums through the app. We're working our best to keep up with the demand and already have some changes in mind for the off-season to improve the stability and performance of the app.
Again, thank you for using our app. We love our users and we wouldn't be where we are if it weren't for you.
Literally nothing to apologize for. The app is great and I hope you continue to add and refine it. Next to DCP, it's literally my most used drum corps resource.
Keep up the great work!

Out of curiosity, are you currently paying for the premium app? At $1.99 per year, it would be a good way to put your money where your mouth is and support someone trying to give back to the drum corps community. It is not easy to make money and put it into development of new products or services for a niche activity like drum corps.
$2 a year is a phenomenal deal. They've constantly been adding features to this app since they released it and it's now my primary source to look up shows/scores/recaps as I find DCI's site way too #### cumbersome.

No ... if you want to be a trusted source of information, then some editorial oversight should be involved. Otherwise, why would anyone trust what you post?
So why single out DrumScorps instead of DCI themselves.
Why are you putting more stock in a smartphone app than, ya' know... the organization that's actually responsible for drum corps.

Cadets back in the kitchen, prepping my Humble Pie. BAC still lurking outside though. We'll see if they come in and trash the place again.

I don't get Hop's logic for the ordinals given that nothing would change with the judging system or what information the individual corps would be privy to. It would just be less information for us fans to chew on.
Am I missing something?
