  1. anyone know what time the stream starts for semi finals starts tomorrow?
  2. do you still have the finals tickets available and if so, are you still willing to sell them in pairs. I may be interested in finals night. how much would they be?
  3. my high-bit rate ran fine-no bumps at all. I am on wireless, with ATT, on IE. I had huge issues last year and ran the speed test and was really slow. Called ATT, they did something and it magically was triple the speed and has been since. Might be worth a try if your internet speeds are not where they should be based on what you are paying for.
  4. I am considering going down to finals this year (haven't been since 2006). Looking for some advice on where to sit and where to stay. Would like to sit in the $75 section. Is it better to sit way up top or in the middle level further out? Any hotel recommendations close to the stadium? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Does anyone know who is doing the encore tomorrow night in Cedarburg? I can't seem to find it listed anywhere on DCI or on the performing corps sites either. Thanks!
  6. I have a question for anyone that saw Scouts at Alletown vs San Antonio. I saw a clip of the closer on you tube and it sounds different than the ones I had seen from the bigger regionals a few weeks earlier. Just curious if anyone else noticed it and what they thought about it. The drill seems to be the same only the Fleur de Lis (sp??) seems to be closer to the front and not as spread out. I personally liked the other ending. This one just doesn't seem climactic to me. Anyone else have thoughts on this?? Dave
  7. Thanks a ton for the info, that's the page I was looking for Dave
  8. Does anyone know what the DCI policy is about taking pictures at shows? I was looking around on the DCI website and I coudl find nothing. I know you used to be able to take all the pictures you wanted, but remember it changing, but I want to knwo for sure before I head out to semis and finals this weekend. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dave
  9. Does anyone else think it is safe to say Scouts visual is not going to get clean? Their visual scores are all over the map, but not really imporving from night to night. The 1.5 difference in GE pretty well says it all. One question I do have is if the drill is so much harder than many shows, shouldn't they get credit for that? Does the credit only come once clean? Anyone else have thoughts on this?
  10. Performing corps Madison Scouts Blue Devils Santa Clara Vanguard Spirit from JSU Glassmen Seattle Cascades Crossmen I've never done one of these, but I thought I'd give it a try, I'm not even gonna try to predict scores 1. Blue Devils 2. Madison Scouts-I'm hoping for a big bounce back after SA, but reallistically will have SCV and Madison flipped 3. SCV-gap to Madison will be small 4. Glassmen 5. Spirit 6. Crossmen 7. Seattle
  11. I don't really think that anyone got screwed by DCI either, I wasn't at San Antonio, but I really don't see how Scouts show got 2 points worse in the 3 hours between performances. I read other things on here about how the scores always go down to leave room for the other corps, why should Scouts be punished for the judges leaving room and dropping their score that much. It will be interesting to see how the scores line up this weekend with Boston now having to do the afternoon and evening shows instead of Madison, could the same thing happen to them, then the same discussion will happen only reverse the sides. Maybe this is the boost Madison needs to really start improving their score because we all know that show placement has something to do with how you are scored. I'd also like to thank oldbandguy for what he wrote, I think it hits the issue right on the head. Thanks
  12. I noticed that Scouts got stuck going in the afternoon show this year. I understand how DCI figures out the order of appearance, but it really seems to hurt the corps that have improved alot over the week, i.e. from a 78-82 but they average out at 80, not where they are at this point. Their score right now has them in sixth, not tenth. Do you think having to perform in the early show and then turn around and perform again 3 hours later will hurt their scores and chance at passing another corps?? Since there is always talk about slotting and needing to leave room for the other corps, could going on this early hurt them score-wise which would affect placements in other regionals decided this way? I love the Scouts and while I don't really care how they do score-wise, I'd love to see them knock some socks of in the coming regionals and then finals in August. Just a thought for discussion, not trying to start a war or anything, just a thought I had.
  13. I'm not trying to start another Cadets bashing because I haven't seen the show or anything, but it doesn't seem like George Hopkins is really helping their case of not trying to change drum corps when he posts stuff like this in his blog on the yea website. He also in the post talks about more of the show storyline if anyone is interested. And the big one ... we continue to add tons of movement to the drum feature -- Flying through the air, bench to bench ... DRAMATIC! It's wild and yes, I guess one would have to say it is definitly not drum corps. Anyone have thoughts on this????
  14. Where do you all think Scouts will fit into the picture as most didn't mention them, I'm really hoping for a top six finish again this year, but we'll all have to wait until August to find out. btw, I'm a new member, and I've loved reading all the reviews and discussions for the past 2 summers and I look forward to reading many more.
  15. Hi all, this is my first post on DCP. I've been reading on here for a few years now. Let me preface this by the fact I never marched corps, I auditioned back in 02 for Scouts and never had the finances to go back, always wish I had, I do have a good deal of competitive marching experience, 4 years in high school as well as staff for a school now, so take my comments for what they are worth. I am a huge Scouts fan as well, so this may seem a bit biased but here it goes. Had the awesome chance to see about 2 hours of ensemble rehearsal last night. They seemed to hit chunks of each part of the show. The first major thing they hit hard was A NEW ENDING, musically. The drill wasn't quite finished for it which will be put on today, but the music was and it is a ton better than the first one I heard on the APD. The first one really didn't do much for me, but this one really did. The very ending is the same, but the parts before it help much better to build into it. It sounded to me still like the drill may be holding the horns back but not as much as some had made it sound early in the year. When they are standing still, i.e. the opening fanfare, they are LOUD!!!! and I loved it. It is very easy to see why though, the drill is insane, and I can remember various points in the show where the whole corps is playing loud and running at at least double or triple size steps. The feet were still very obvious that they weren't together all the time, but on a whole they appeared to be, at least to me. That was one thing the staff was on them about a lot, was making their feet in time and together. I know nothing about guard, but here's my two cents. The guard was off on their own until about the last hour of ensemble. They are doing a lot of equipment work and as a whole were together, and there are some awesome moments where the whole guard has flags and maybe in uniform it looks different but it was awesome last night. The drum line was also very tight. There was some dirt, but all in all I thought they sounded awesome. Once again not a drum guy, I'm brass but anyways. I was very impressed with the intensity of the rehearsal after what was a long day I'm sure. There was a good sized crowd out watching last night which was cool as well. Seeing this made me all the more excited for finals in August, I really hope that once the drill is clean, which it made significant progress last night, they will be in the top six. Lots of people have been putting them way down in tenth, but I really think they will get the drill clean. There is a ton of enthusiasm there from the members and the staff that I'm sure will go a long way. I'm excited to see how things go in Indy on Saturday. I personally really enjoyed the show and can't wait to see the final, clean product. This was my first review attempt so please be nice. I just hoped to shed a little light on the discussions about Scouts show this year. If anyone is free tonight, and in the Milwaukee area, you should check out rehearsal down at Whitnall High School, right on the corner of Highway 100 and I-43. Thanks for reading.
