Why are they blurring out the Conestoga wagon?
-
And this is why so many groups choose to not post videos early season. Regiment will be fine and they will tweak and change what is needed.

I love the front ensemble uniforms!
-
I'm very disillusioned at the delay and just can't and won't support them this season or perhaps next. If they announce by tomorrow, I'll support them but starting mid July.
It's a drum corps show. What happened before the Internet? Get over it.

Looks like the corps got new uniforms of some sort this year. There was a post Thursday on Facebook about it. They will most likely reveal the uniform to the people present at the Ensuring our Future benefit. And those not able to make it, will probably see them a couple weeks later.
It's going to be a much different look!

What new design team? Same ole geriatrics...
Jeremy Spicer is only new list with no contact or bio...
Yet to be announced.
-
With some new design team, I wish they would pick something new and fresh.
-
I'm sure that's true. I just don't like what is happening. Sometimes there is no sound coming off the field other than electronics controlled by someone who isn't even on the field: some educated audio pro who knows how to make things happen. At what point do we stop the charade that there is an age limit for the "performers?"
Give 1 example.
-
I hope everything turns out great for the corps. Unfortunately, I think the biggest issue is at the very top.

150/151. Easy. Get a screenshot & count.
Age? No limit in the DCI rulebook as to how young. However, it states on BD's own page that: "The internationally competitive Blue Devils A Corps is comprised of 150 members between the ages of 17 and 21". ...unless it suits their own interests.
The thing I don't like is that she wasn't there for (all or a majority of) the season - like the other members. To me, it's just a gimmick. Nothing more.
The one question I actually have is: Did she march with BDC this year, finish their season, and then join the 'A corps'? If so, then that would probably break some rules.
Give it up already and there is no rule saying she couldn't march the A corps. Just be happy that this little girl got a chance for this experience. Apparently that is an issue for some people.

They won't acknowledge but they still can see it and judge without a number
Nope, sorry. I'm in critiques all summer and listen to multiple captions. They are told not to evaluate during that time.
-
Check out the Cadets 2013 judging tape(s). They don't start the judging until the preshow is over. The judges actually acknowledge it.
Correct. They will not talk about the pre-show. They will wait for the signal/announcement on every tape. This is the same for WGI as well.
-
Dumb. Clean the actual show instead of wasting time relearning a pre-show that doesn't factor in to anything!
-
I wouldn't mind that either. But then the question becomes, who can take his place?
Maybe Key?
-
I've listed to 20+ VP tapes each year over the past five years. Typically there are 3-5 battery comments. About 50% horns, 45% guard. If the VP judge has a guard background then make it about 60% guard and 35% horns
Those are just some rough percentages. Depends on the judge. -
The judge is in the press box correct? The only two judges on the field I thought were Percussion and Brass.
On the field.
-
A lot of people forget that the guard plays a big part in the caption. It's not just marching technique.

Keep pushing Blue! I loved the new ending. They are SO much cleaner visually than they were in San Antionio and it shows with their vis analysis score. They need to just keep doing what they are doing and pushing to the end!

They make a Crown.

Okay,
Bluecoats, you are very good.
That being said, there is just too much electronic use. Speakers on the field, sampling horns...
It's entertaining, but this was my worst nightmare when electronics became usable.
This is completely detracting from the beautiful and powerful horn line they have fielded this year.
This is just how I see/hear things.
Am I truly alone?
I hope they use even more when they put their new ending on. Incredible use of electronics that can only be truly experienced live.

Wow Bluecoats! This show definitely tops last year for me!

Dan Farrell needs to step aside as program coordinator and just run the corps. Bring someone in with some programming experience and allow that person to take the reigns off the design staff and let them modernize.
I don't see that ever happening, but I can hope!

I do not like Phantom and love all the others so far especially Blue Knights. Although, I wish they all took them a step further and made the jump to show specific looks. Ditch the uniforms and let's go the WGI route. I marched in the 90's but I love that these corps are finally evolving.
