Most of these placings are pretty set right now. The only question is at the top, where it should be pretty close. I'm thinking Bloo, who's definitely my favorite of the two, but 'Coats have beaten SCV who beat Crown last weekend.

All I can say is I hope they all go up in score - keep showing improvement. AND if I had my way the Scouts would go up at least 3 points. :P

  2. No matter how many times I am hit over the head with amplified vocals in drum corps, I never seem to enjoy it very much. Say what you will about how that is entirely wrong and I am such a troubled person for not "opening my mind" to the wonders of amplified vocals in drum corps. I try to give it a chance. I just don't think it works. I don't find it appealing. I find that it detracts from the show. I cringe everytime I hear somebody doing it.

Not everybody enjoys the same things about the activity. Not everybody should. However, I am not going to appologize for not enjoying the amplified vocals. I am not going to apologize for finding shows without it to be more appealing and entertaining.

One thing I will ask, though, is that I would love for somebody to dig up a proud member that wants to tell everybody his/her drum corps instrument was a microphone. That he/she would put it on his/her member jacker that they marched a microphone in DCI and couldn't be prouder of the achievement.

Makes me wonder if the kids that do the speaking during the Cadets show get something like a gold mike patch for their corps jacket.

  3. I can't imagine wearing a shirt like that or even being friendly with someone who did, but I don't find it disgusting. It's sad more than anything for a couple of reasons. Sad that anybody would obliquely slam what members are performing, and sad that somebody who obviously loves the activity lets one thing they don't like ruin it for them. Just sad overall, I guess.

Maybe wearing one to a show is a bit tastless. I think a better use of the shirt would be to send one to each staff member.

  4. Here's the weather report: http://www.accuweather.com/forecast-15day....33&metric=0

Thursday, Jul 19 Rather cloudy with a showerLow: 70 °F

Boy I hope that show doesn't rain out! Two years ago it rained big time before and during the show - somehow the rain subsided enough for everyone to perform but it was pretty wet at Rice stadium. Really glad the show has been moved to the Berry complex. Never been there but I can bet it smells better! I swear I could smell the urinals in the Mens room from my seat...

  5. ITs funny how all you huge BD fans with your big Blue Devil Crap all over your posts are missing where you marched on your profiles. maybe cause waite you did'nt ever so you don't know what it is like to be part of a real drum corps that works hard everyday and does not look like they just got back from a hippie/ skateboard convention and smokes in the uniform and drags it around like it is a rugby shirt and does not learn any values. Oh hold on I forgot you never marched anywhere so you don't know about all the stuff you learn when you march a corps like The Cadets, Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vangaurd and most other corps that compete with BD every year. Your probably some marching band guy that wishes he could have marched but could'nt cause you were not good enough or to scared to get cut.

And a big old cup of STFU for this whiner! - Can't believe this thread is still open!

  6. 1 - It seems more like a "quit talking about it and do it" type of saying to me.

    2 - Where can I get one?

T-Shirts were done by JJAYBOYD - a stand up comedian and drum corps fan. A RAMD regular. You can get the shirts here:

Link deleted - no longer for sale.

  7. Well, in an effort to keep this OT and from being locked...

Glassmen will be rehearsing roughly 7 minutes from where I live, that's awesome.

My wife and I and a friend of mine who marched SCV and her husband will all be there.. should be fun! Then we've got SA two days later! WOOT!

Yeah! I'm going to both shows as well. In 2005 I went to the Houston show - 1st DCI show I'd been to in years. I seriously considered driving to SA for the show the next day. Last year I went to SA and had a great time. This year I'm going to both... Can't wait!

  8. No...in particular you said in another thread you were glad you were out of the country so you wouldn't have to ever see Star. I don't care if you like my corps but your tact (or lack thereof) sucks and I would rather not have to bite my lip around you all night.

Whatever. Don't actually remember posting that but i'm sure you could dig it up. Have a good time at the show.

  9. Well, according to you, Cadets can do no better than 5th this summer anyway. Secondly, they were not beaten this weekend. I know how giddy you probably were last night with this faulty logic once the scores were announced, but only if BD beats them head to head tonight will they have been "bested". Last night's scores only showed how much better BD was than Cavies, on that night.

Well they certainly were bested tonight. Not by much but they were indeed beaten. Good Night - Now I'm Giddy!

  10. Unfortunately, you are not.

Nope - I'm not. I'll never learn to enjoy narration, gay rabbits, and pushing the envelope just for the sake of it. Now just give up! You will never win this debate with me. I'm an old fart that LOVES drum corps, but not Cadet borgs that defend them no matter what insanity they try to put on the field! Now just unbunch your panties and get on to the next Cadets love topic...... BYE!

  11. You are the one who needs to get a clue. You know absolutely nothing about the organization if you think that most of them are there to get a ring. How many rings have they won in the past seven years? If most of them thought that, I would think they would join the Cavaliers. And most people have always had a problem with The Cadets before the Narration, rabbits, pink tables, boxes, and singing. Trust me. I know. I've marched there. So next time you want to make statements like that, make sure you have the facts to back it up.

OK - you are both correct but it's always fun to ruffle some Cadet panties!
