  1. DCI is aware of this issue. School schedules are part of the problem, but not an excuse. It's a long term issue that will have to be dealt with. Many corps will have reduced instructional staffs during finals week - the worst possible time - because these staff members are obligated to teach at the camps the members will be missing!
  2. Spirit Pride Loyalty Double Obligation Uh...Integrity Excellence There. I said it. Now try to get MY shorts.
  3. From The Cavaliers web site: The Summer Tour will once again be under the direction of Tour Director, Mark Ackerson. Mark will be returning for his 19th year on the management team and his 23rd year volunteering for the corps. Mark was a 2 year member (1983-1984) of The Cavaliers Color Guard and a member of the 1985 Cavaliers Winter Guard. Mark also volunteers for WGI Sport of the Arts. Currently he is the Staff Coordinator for the WGI World Championships, as well as a Representative for WGI at several Regional Contests throughout the competitive season. 5. Hi John, Thanks for the info on Cal. I was 14 when I moved to Chicago, so there's no doubt I could have a lot of the details scrambled. I was a member of the Vianney Knights, from Merrick, Cure of Ars parish, another one of Cal's small corps. Our snare line sent two players (Jim Lagudi and Joe Borodan) to the Sunrisers and one (me) to the Cavaliers. A few of us marched a couple of parades with the North Bellmore Fire Department Flames. They played mostly the same music the we did! I also remember Tommy - he filled in for Cal at a few practices. Did you play on those square black rubber pads he carried in the homemade steel case? Do you know who Cal's teachers were? I'm trying to get a handle on my own drumming heritage. Thanks, Dave
  6. Thank you so much. My first instructor was Cal Myers (I don't believe any relation to Wes), who marched with Sky around that time. Eric also taught St. Rita's during that time. Dave
  7. Does anyone here know who taught drums for the Skyliners in the late 50's and through the 60's? Thanks in advance, Dave
  8. Actually, it would be awsome if the chaplain could run a mobile bingo game. It would help cover the cost of fuel. Dave
  9. I'm late to the party. Please to explain "Honk"?
