Thanks for the info on Cal. I was 14 when I moved to Chicago, so there's no doubt I could have a lot of the details scrambled. I was a member of the Vianney Knights, from Merrick, Cure of Ars parish, another one of Cal's small corps. Our snare line sent two players (Jim Lagudi and Joe Borodan) to the Sunrisers and one (me) to the Cavaliers. A few of us marched a couple of parades with the North Bellmore Fire Department Flames. They played mostly the same music the we did! I also remember Tommy - he filled in for Cal at a few practices. Did you play on those square black rubber pads he carried in the homemade steel case?
Do you know who Cal's teachers were? I'm trying to get a handle on my own drumming heritage.
