  1. Pay it, don't pay it ... Go or stay home.

I'm staying home. If you really want to send a message to DCI, do the same ...

Boo's analogy to pro sports, Broadway, etc., is fine except for one thing: IT'S ####### DRUM CORPS! It's not pro sports or Broadway.

You're right, lets just let it die. We can always watch marching band on Friday night at the high school anyway. Pass the haterade please

  2. I wish I understood half the crap I read on here but since i'm a musical idiot I only know what moves me as a fan and a parent. I love what Crown has done since my son started marching. His first year was in.trance.it and to tell the truth I didn't get it but I was hooked on what he was doing, since then I love the last three immensely.

I am however able to say what I like with other corps, for example, outside of what Crown has done I absolutely am mesmerized by Cavaliers Machine! pretty much the same for Blue Coats last year. I can't tell you unless it's obvious when a note gets fracked or a tear occurs, etc... but I know what a great show is and there are a few this year, I just hope the judges agree that the grass IS in fact greener in Carolina!

  3. Actually I am not on edge. And I don't defend every single post that gives criticism. But you know what? When someone criticizes posts about you know who, there is ALWAYS someone on here who defends what they do. If you have a problem with me doing the same, then don't read my post. You may have thought the post was very good. But I didn't. Just like others are entitled to opinions I won't like, I AM ALSO ENTITLED to an opinion others won't like. They made their opinion known, and I am going to do the same. And trust me, my self-esteem is fine and has absolutely nothing to do with the responses I make on other people's comments.

    uh yeah.... that's obvious

  4. Yeah but you make it seem as if there are no other first place guards in the past who did not have sails or any of those errors of which you speak. I can point out MANY guards I have seen this summer and previous summers who received first place at this point of the season who were not absolutely perfect. But in my opinion, the person who judged them and gave them the score they received obviously thought that they performed their show much better than the competition. Sure, we may not agree with it, and there have been a lot of things I have not agreed with lately, but hey, I'm not paid to be a judge. They are. So what can we do?

It just seems to me that you weren't able to find anything good with Cadets guard, yet you were able to point out EVERY great thing about Crown's guard, and I am sure they were not absolutely perfect last night. Just to be fair, I think what I saw of Crown's guard the past few shows I attended was VERY good, and they received what they deserved at those shows. But I'm sure they're not perfect 100% of the time, and that's okay.

You seem to be very on edge lately, I realize you marched Cadets but you don't really have to defend every single post that gives criticism. I thought that the post in question was very explanatory in a good way on what was noticed. Not negative. Others ARE in fact entitled to opinions that you won't like. Trust me, I don't like many of them myself but it makes one seem a little bit like they have self esteem issues when they jump at every little thing to bring a defense.

Just my .02 and I of course don't know crap about Drum Corps, I just pay the bills so my kid can march

  5. I was just on DCI fan network checking out Crown's show from July 27th in Salem, VA. The corps still has those two brass holes they have had all season. Anyone know if they plan on closing them before championship week? They really distract from a few of the forms and makes the visual picture look incomplete.

One Baritone will be filled tonight. He needed a few days to learn the show... He is pretty excited

  6. For others who marched 58-62 ..Holy Name (Garfield Cadets) in this season is having an eerily familiar year. After marching their 25th without the Maroon jackets ..and struggling all season ..The Garfield Cadets won a couple of shows early in 60 ..and ended by winning the first of three American Legion National Championships ...and again in '61 and '62. Crown is much like the old Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights ..they played and drilled really well ..but somehow never brought the crowd to its feet the Garfield did. ..Oh ...and congratulations to Crown on their 20th anniversary.

??? OK, either put down the pipe or learn the "one hit only" rule

    thanks

  7. Actually I find it's Crown Honks and Phantom Phans that have the most disdain for BD and Cavies and their particular styles of performing (and winning).

Really? I have not really seen that. Of course I am Honk but still, I seem to see more of that for PR and the Cadets...

  8. A little excited... first chance to see the shows live and visit my kid this summer on tour

WC Hawkins Stadium at Irmo HS

    Irmo, SC

Competing in 2009 (in reverse performance order):

    * Carolina Crown - Ft. Mill, SC

    * The Cadets - Allentown, PA

    * Blue Stars - La Crosse, WI

    * Boston Crusaders - Boston, MA

    * Crossmen - San Antonio, TX

    * Teal Sound - Jacksonville, FL

    * Alliance - Atlanta, GA

  9. You may as well count last nights crowd as their home crowd since almost everyone was screaming for Crown. I tend to disagree that the score gap will open a bit. Judging by what I saw yesterday in rehearsal and last night in the show, Cadets are out for blood. This should be an intersting next few weeks though.

I don't like to put much stock in "home show" judging so I agree there but I doubt HNC is the only Corps out for blood either...

Did you watch any other Corps rehearsals? I hope to see some rehearsal tomorrow morning for the Columbia show
