  1. It happened in Prelims. Very well could have happened last night. And can #### well happen tonight! Crowns guard is pretty fantastic. Take your hate elsewhere. Nobody wants to see, hear, or read it. You're just fishing for some #### to get stired just like you did on the other thread. Go the hell on somewhere JSD.

Not to mention that Crown's staff likes the panel tomorrow. It's a very favorable lineup for them.

  2. I'm an English teacher, believe it or not, but I couldn't possibly care less about it on social media/message boards.

I just type fast. Punctuation and oftentimes capitalization suffer.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Punctuation is a big deal for me. I just like to see a persons thoughts as clearly as possible.

Personally speaking, it has become a pet peeve since I returned to school. The only thing that bothers me more is people making political comments in unrelated forums. When combined together, I can't resist. :)

  3. Lol comas? I've never been in a coma...but perhaps you meant comma? I'm on my phone and takes too much effort to flip to find the comma button when the period button is right next to the space bar.

A typo vs. the blatant disregard of the English language.

    Nice try, kid.

I see the concept of "context" went over you're head, too.

<keeping the autocorrect blunder for humor :silly: >

  4. I think only one other person has noticed this--besides you here, there was hostrauser a couple days ago in the 2016 predictions thread.

I also know him personally, and we agree on most things visual.

Same thing could be said about Crown last season, too. IMO, VE/VA is what cost them last season. The members move better than the book given to them.

  5. Actually, no, I did not. However, I was speaking more of a design vs execution standpoint, not so much on a who was cleaner or had the best drill on June 20something standpoint.

Not to take anything away from Bluecoats, because I was definitely WOWed by them, but I felt, after 1 viewing mind you, that they may be passed later on the season and not keep their place on top of all the other corps beneath team. That's all! :-)

Bluecoats.... Variety of demand in spades, and they have room to add more... including an ending. This show will compete for High Vis GE, VP and VA.

Crown.... Other than the very beginning, they live in front of the back hash. The design lacks variety in terms of staging. What they have going for them is an amazing guard, and the members have a lot of vocab. They will compete for High VP/Guard but a 4th GE Vis and Va is likely for them.... but a weaker Cadets might help a little and place them 3rd in the captions.

This is without me seeing SCV yet.

  6. I think Bluecoats' show is too far forward, which makes it not very appealing. There's a lack of structure which makes the audience lost and confused. That's my perception.

.... and it had the most and loudest applauses in my theater. A theater in a very conservative part of the country.

  7. (Meanwhile, off topic: does anyone remember what the Blue Devils did in 2010 when they beat Mad World? ......exactly. In five years, when people remember Inferno, they'll think the same thing.)

Through a Glass Darkly... bloody brilliant show. Cavaliers didn't have a solid closer all season for Mad World.

As far as this season, I was there live for semis and finals; the correct corps won each night. Crown had a much better semis run. Finals...Devils where on, Crown was flat... even their guard had a shaky opener. Judges job is not to pick your favorite, it's to find the best corps.

And the show that will be remembered in 5 years is Bluecoats, not Crown. :P

  8. Well, let's just say there was a certain director that I recommended that set to, but they where out of position to change to that.

As far as percussion, it's the most unstable caption in the activity. It changes from night to night. I don't think I ever used points in that caption, in any live season... Ever. The live season I swept, I used Esperanza.

I never changed to Crown for GE and didn't change at 155, but I had my week in place to make my changes to that set. Crossmen where a money corps all season in visual, and once Crown made their push at Atlanta, the key was to use them as much as possible and avoid their weak captions... VA and Percussion. Than a week later, I wanted to go to finals and stop playing. That's that, but it was fun to watch people play it out.

  9. Given that penalties are usually not seen until finals week, is it that much of a issue to implement? Live season only?

I played in a fantasy league that had the penalty rule (FDCI), and my first win was because people didn't factor a large semi-finals penalty. They would of won finals, but the would-be-top-3 finish out of the top 12. I was rewarded for not risking it, and won.

It's an element that factors into play:

Would you use Crossmen knowing that you have a 1.4 penalty at semi-finals?

  10. Mystre, I see you down there. You ain't slick. I'll see you in Finals Saturday night.

Nope I tanked them, and kept them there. I one-hundred percent enjoyed finals, and not having to keep up with caption changes. A case where I was not misdirecting attention... Like I normally do during live seasons.

But, I believe if the " you get their penalty" rule was in place, I actually would've slipped into finals because I was not using Crossmen. That would of been a funny finish to the corps history.

Congrats to the old-time-fdci-guy Gary, and his win.

  11. With finals week closing in, and my busy season just getting out of its peak (I'm a real-life visual designer for 19 programs), I've decided to bid farewell to DCPI and take Mystre back into permanent retirement. My goal coming back was not to win, but to try to get the forums more active by bringing back the Mystre swagger , but I can't devote the time to do that. Given I never like the idea of a non-active director winning and Mystre being the first corps to break 90, I decided to to tank my captions last week, and will be pioneering the corps into new territory.... not making finals. (Pioneering... get it?)

I'd like to thank the new head honcho for the smooth season; the first time I never had to complain about missed changes!!

For me, I'm going to enjoy my trip to Indy, and time away from a computer.
