I''d know that camera anywhere:-)

I think they are comming to bridgebort next week. I look foward to seeing them.
Same corps will be in Bridgport plus Hurcs and Carolina Gold.

HAHA ... Barnum 1963 ... John Bailey "borrows" an Ice Cream Truck during rehearsal and is promptly arrested, cuffed and locked up by some of Bridgeport's finest ... Lefty had to get an advance on Sky's prize money to post bail for him ... good thing they won the show that night! ... I kid him about it everytime I see him ...
:-)
I talked to John at and I&E at Archie some years ago. He won the keyboard competition. I mentioned the ice cream truck. He said (paraphrasing) 'No matter how many trophies I win for musical excellence, all anybody wants to talk about is the #### ice cream truck'. I don't bring it up anymore when I see him

Don,
A quick "OT"...
Great listening to you and hairbear playing your acoustic guitars Saturday night at the after party!
Thanks for covering the "Hairbear and Hairbare Show". And for recording it for posterity. It was great fun for us too!

does he write a lot of poems?
Those two hints would suggest Frankie Nash and Andy Lisko - but I'm not going to guess them

That's exactly what I do on a gig! "Phonetics" are a great thing! LOL! Most of the time everyone's drunk and they don't realize what words I am singing, nor do they care! We are just the "Jukebox"...
As long as we don't have to play over Swinghouse we'll be OK:-)
Going to bed. Cya Saturday

Right after he was inducted into the PaDCHOF he gave me a CD of Liberty Bell from the mid 50's. Now I know why that was his favorite Corps, especially '57. God what a horn line, especially the counter point.
I competed against Liberty Bell as a member of the WRPC. Yes they were a powerhouse!

Nahh.... we'll be safe! It will be fun... We can get Tony White to take photos of us! You may have to do the singing! If I sing we WILL need hard hats! LOL!
hERE'S THE PLAN: We hook up at the afterparty, in the hallway, find a good spot to play and let it rip! They can't throw us out! :)
Oh-oh, if I do all of the singing I'll need my "word stand" :-)
Oh well, I'll just make up what I can't remember
-
Well... I can't sleep and I have a long drive to do...so a little Dicemanradio is just the ticket to put me in the mood for Harrisburg!
And I want to name the current guess whoer... but I don't want a kewpie before I leave town! LOL!
Help a guy out will ya, Don! just kidding, my friend!
Hey Don Solinger: I am bringing a guitar to Harrisburg! Join me? At the after-Party we could put out a tip jar!
I'll bring the Ibanez along. Do you think we'll need to wear hard hats?

"Go Walt"!! you got new knees! You can march forever! :)
Walt will be marching in the hornline this year at age 56. I was 56 years old the last year I marched. In fact, truth be told, I didn't finish the 97 season on the field. I was only doing it because we needed another contra-bass. Someone came along halfway through the season and took the spot - which I was grateful for since I was Asst. Director that year and had other duties to attend to. I also didn't finish the 96 season on the field because I had to have shoulder surgery.
So we believe Walt is already the oldest person ever to march a full season in the Buccaneers hornline.
Congrats to Iron Man Walt. I'm proud to cede the record to a super guy and a True Blue Buccaneer.

This guy has played "Mustang Sally and 'Freebird" at least ten thousand times, AT LEAST as many times as I have! We have "co-miserated" in the recent past about
this fact.......
wAIT A MINUTE...Wrong guy. ....... THAT guy was right before THIS guy ! THIS guy is doing his "Mustang Sally" impersonation...LOLOL!!!! :)
Before those two tunes came along I had already OD'd on "Wipeout" and "Bad Bad Leroy Brown"
Whenever I tried to hire a drummer, the first thing out of their mouth usually was "I don't do Wipeout"!!

Okay, this has gone on long enough. The guy in the Archer-Epler "maternity" blouse is Joe Bernert, Jr.. Then the next guy is William (Bill) "Rip" Bernert. The young lady in the Bon Bons uniform is ????. Since the original pix that was posted is the one we were asked to identify was just the two gentlemen I just named, is/was the full pix for extra credit?
Rip Bernert was best friends with my #1 drum corps hero Edward "Bud" Johnston. Before Bud passed away the two of them were almost inseparable in their later years.
A couple of years ago I was telling Rip how much I enjoyed Archie's
1959 show. He rattled off every song from that year in the order that they were played. He's an amazing guy.
-
Silly boy. It's the guy on the END
The Bon Bon's chorus director!
-
With the full knowlege that what I am about to say will make me look stupid:
I don't know WHICH guy is Rip! LOLOL!
Silly boy. It's the guy on the END

Uncle Tom is correct, it is a pre-fire Getzen DeLuxe. This model is no longer in use, may it Rest In Peace.
I think I may have one of those out in the shed

Waiting to load the bus in 2007 for the short ride to the Alumni Spectacular, I found these 2 seated at a picnic table outside of the Radisson. I sat down directly across from them, fully sensing what was about to transpire.
Out came their omnipresent snare sticks, and they proceeded to throw down a smorgasbord or rudimental permutations.
Now I've been around some great drummers, and some great lines, in my corps career. And they always were wound up tighter than cats.
But this pair woodpecked away, and not a bit of tension was discernible as I observed their hands and forearms at close range. Fluid and totally relaxed, they ran through an amazing repertoire of duet material.
A picnic table never had it so good. And I thoroughly savored this up-close-and-personal demonstration of snaredrumming mastery.
(But once I got on the bus, I did NOT sit in the seat in front of them.)
Good move. I made the mistake of sitting in front of John Flowers on the way to Somewhere USA back int 60's!
Lesson learned:-)

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm lost on this one. All I know from the clues is that one's named Joe and the other Jack. Could one be a graduate of the Arthur "MURRY" dance studio and the other have a name that rhymes with Hanna Montana???? Heh. Thanks for waking me up Nanc.
That's er pretty close
-
now there is a novel idea!
This months issue of DCW mentions them.
They've been I&E competitors as a duet for many years.
Both Super likable guys
Too many hints?.
-
So... seriously, no one has any clues or knows Who this wonderful duet is?
Any Skyguys absolutely must disqualify themselves. There's a hint for ya:-)

kumba ya m'lord......kumba ya

Now we're channeling Joan Baez
Lets all hold hands around the campfire!!

I spoke with DonnyBucs last week. He is well and doing fine and has been very busy. He's been working late shift and usually doesn't get home until way after midnight.
I'm sure he'll be back here soon.

Hi Gang.
I'm flattered and appreciative that you've noticed my absence from these epistles. For some reason I'm not getting the notices in my email box with the link to DCP whenever someone responds to post of mine. I think about the thread sometimes while at work bit then I forget to check in when I get home.
It's true I get home early AM when Tony is on, but I barely have time to open snail mail and check a hundred or so emails before grabbing a shower and hitting the sack. Whatever I have to get done around the house during the week gets done in the morning before I leave for work.
I know this sounds lame and whiney. Everybody works at something and most people have busy schedules. (With the possible exception of some of our retired Floridians:-). I'll try to be more vigilant as concerns my fellow GWers.
FWIW Everything is fine here in the Reading 'Burbs!

The poster has Flour City Flowers, comes up as Rochester on googly. Nice photo, like the blur on the left hand, drums speak...imo :-)
Good to hear people are OK. NanciD, thanks for the roll call, yikes. By the way, you're cool meaning thanks so much dear lady. Luv ya too.
This one is pretty easy I think. I'll lurk for a while:-)

That's to avoid clotting I guess which could cause sizures and possible heart attacks. This is good. Keep up the GOOD work. When I stopped (May 17, 1985, 24 years, 7 months, 15 days ago,...but who's counting ) I had to get a prescription for Nicorette gum. Man did that taste bitter. Only chewed 2 pieces then threw away the rest of the gum and quit cold turkey. It was the hardest think I ever did bit without a doubt the BEST thibng I ever did for myself. Day at a time Ron, day at a time.
Heh.
(May 17, 1985, 24 years, 7 months, 15 days ago,...but who's counting
May 1st 1984.
My third serious try.
Went to a group called Smoke Enders.
It cost $200.00 and guaranteed I wouldn't smoke for 5 days or my $$ back.
It worked!!!
Guess Who?

Hi Andy,
Missed you at the Cabs show Saturday night. The Skyguys had the crowd on their feet. It was great to see the Red and Black moving around the field.
Yes I'm still double-clutching, talking on the CB, listening to country music, blowing that air horn and chasing the horizon on a ribbon of concrete etc, etc:-) One of these days I'll retire but for now I like the job and need the paycheck.
If I get a link to DCP in my inbox I check it out. But sometmes they don't come through and I forget to log on. I'll try to pay more attention from now on.
Good to hear from you!
Donnie
