  1. Dear Diary: "I sucked today." "I hope that I play better tomorrow." Nick's practicing.

Just tryin' to learn my music........that's all.

    I am Nick

Lead Sop for the THUNDER.......................I dig THUNDER

Nick practicing... wow, so am I!

Can't wait for Sunday, Module 1 is gonna kick @ss!

  2.

When you get tired, just pretend you need to emtpy the spit valve/water key. This will give your shoulders a short breather.

Gosh there sure is a lot of spit in here.

    Must be the cold.

Don't be giving away our secrets!

Also, any instructional staff sees right through that, they can because they have done it in a past life at some time.

I have done that a few times will playing euph. BUT, if you just kill yourself (in the proper position) your muscles will get use to it.. hence the reason we used weights!

And I swear, when you add two pounds of extra weight... you get extra spit in your horn

  3. DCA

    04 - 2nd sop ~ ES

    05 - Lead mello ~ ES

06 - Euph till may, Lead Mello till August, Contra for a month and Finals ~ ES

07 - Lead Mello, moved to Tuba at Glassmen - got hurt in April... Finished DCA at ES on Euph

    08 - Lead Mello ~ ES

09 - Lead Soprano ~ Lake Erie Thunder

    Alumni

    06 - Current Lead Soprano ~ Thunderbirds

Man was it fun switching between Soprano on a Thursday rehearsal to low brass, only time it was tough was a weekend of DCA to a show/concert on Monday on Soprano.

  4. All this and not a single post from an active member of the Buccaneers.

    Interesting.

Thats because Current and Alumni Statesmen are proud of where they march... we dont hide behind names without any signatures or no detail in our profile. Chances are, at least 4 or 5 of people praising Buccaneers in this thread currently march... it is just that we, nor you, can tag them as "current members" because of what I stated earlier.

I have tried to stay out of this thread, trying to keep everything positive for the Buccaneers. My wife only out lashed because she spent time at Reading in 2004, and wanted just wanted to vent.

I am not bashing any current or past Buccaneer member, fan, or staff... since 05 they have been very good.

BTW, I'm not some rabid Bucs fan who dresses like captain hook...I do however consider them to be the class of the circuit right now and arguably have the most impressive run of all time.

1.) Kinda funny, I will never get that into a performance.. cant wait to see them when they are not the top dog and see if they still do that.

2.) Class of the circuit... not quite, they are just another group in the circuit ... if you were really the class of the circuit, you would be VERY appreciative of the 4 championships in a row... I know I was VERY appreciative for just one.

3.) ARGUABLY??!? Who's not to say the Brigs... I am glad Tommy Allen hasn't seen that...

Again, congrats Buccaneers on the last four years... I cant wait to see the shows of everyone this year!

PS - Yes, I know that I am an Alumni of Statesmen... go ahead flame me... WE all KNOW its going to happen. But these are ALL my opinions and not of ANY groups I have or am marching.

  5. Tell your dad to contact me...Are you are Kenny's child? You can have a spot THIS summer! Come to the March camp. I will give you my flight information and meet me at the Rochester airport there and back. Get a season in and then try out for your dream corps next year.

I have trumpet spots open right now at Pioneer. We do not discriminate 15 year olds at all.

    Donny

What a good guy you are Donny! I know him, and yes.. its Ken's son. (Dont hold it against him) just playin Ken

Good Luck Kris, let me know if your going through or by Erie on the road, always willing to support drum corps friends

  6. Just spoke with arranger, and he said reprise of mod #2 measures 50-84 WILL be repeated in the finale....maybe 3 or 4 times.

Or did he say they were cutting measures 50-84?

Or, am I hallucinating from lack of nicotine?????

Find out Sunday! Sorry, I will be back on the road, so have fun!

Option 3 is the most probable in this case.. seeing that we already have the finale, LOL.

    Nick,

The ending is a tough one, havent played since Sunday cause I caught the flu bug going around.. wasnt fun at all.

I cant wait for Sunday, its going to be FUN! And about the music stand, its there just for a reference when they say measure numbers or when they change the dynamics.. someone has to write it down!

I'm Spam, I play Lead Sop with Nick, its going to be a fun :lol: season!

  7. Practicing again. Takin' a break. Just ran through measures 50-70 in Module 2. Did that about 4 times. Now I have to rest for a while and then get back at it. Ya see, that's how I memorize......I "chunk" over and over again. Measures 14-24 are a piece of cake. Those measures are pretty easy and all ready memorized. It starts getting tricky at measure 50. I'm gettin' it though. Measure 70 - the end is filled with upper-register stuff, so I gotta keep at it. I'm happy that there's this thing called DCP. I can say what's on my mind and not feel that I'm talking to myself. I know at least 1 person will read what I write. That's all that matters. "What's Nick sayin' now?"

    I am Nick

    I still don't smoke................

Yeah, I've been working on it myself.. taking a break to let the chops rest. I dont want to be the only lead sop who doesnt have his music memorized. 50-70 is just the length of note, and the end is just endurance.

  8. Sounds like a challenge to me Nick... not exactly sure how?!? Challenge him to a(n) **insert something** duel/match.

Don't snap, he's just jealous you play Lead Sop and the chick's dig ya.

(Did I just stand up for Nick?):tongue:

Of course I did, us Lead Sop's need to stick together... so Nick, thats my best interpretation for you.

  9. I..............Nick........won't snap on DCP anymore about vibrato. See D.A., I listen to you.

    ...................................................HOWEVER......................

    .........................................

If I get that solo that I was playing last rehearsal...............Folks, you WILL hear VIBRATO come from my horn. There is a 3-count Donut in which a little VIBRATO would be appropriate. Again, I only use VIBRATO during solo's.

    I'm just Nick

    Ok.. gotta come clean also...

If I get the solo I was playing last rehearsal... There MAY be use of Vibrato from me too...:tongue:

I haven't used Vibrato in years, hope it still works.. if not, Nick may have to teach me.

  10. What does VIBRATO mean?

I am Nick and..................I'm gonna be nice from now on.

I've just been informed that I am being demoted to 5th Alto Sop. This is my consequence for being mean.

You know what it is Nick, I hear you use it.

I'm sorry that you got moved, since you already memorized your music! At least you can play one of those beautiful Kanstul Alto's

  11. I can't wait until no one in the Corps needs a music stand. I can't wait until we get all of the music for our show. I can't wait until the Steelers win the Super Bowl again. I can't wait to hear: "Now entering the field, from Erie, Pennsylvania, the LAKE ERIE THUNDER!"

1.) Yes, I can't wait for that time... thats usually when the "sound" gives you "goosebumps":cool:

2.) As Nick Filia once said "Patience is a virtue, my friend."

    3.) Go CARDS!!

4.) We already know that feeling Nick, remember Lake Erie Fanfare last year??

NOW ENTERING THE FIELD FOR EXHIBITION, from Erie, PA .....

    LAKE ERIE THUNDER....birds
