TROY UNIVERSITY is in the heart of Troy, Alabama with over 30,000 students attending the main campus. We encourage you and welcome you with open arms to this wonderful camps. TROY was built in 1887 and has come along way sense then. The campus is a great spot for site seeing and visit with friends. In 2002 our Veternan Stadium was built to Division I-A requirements and was Movie Gallery Veternan Stadium and sits over 30,000. The stadium still looks like new and has had many top DI-A footballs teams attend. The stadium is used for all TROY football games and halftime shows for the renouned Sound of the South Marching Band, local High School Football Games and recreations.
  5. I have been working on a warm-up piece that is titled Verizon. As soon I am able to register The Charioteers in DCPI the better, sense its going to take up to seven days to do it.
  6. I'm go to TROY University and March with the Sound of t he South and read about The original Charioteers about a year ago from a professor and wanted to make my fantasy corps just like the original, but decided not too. The real Charioteers are from Troy, Alabama, and I wish they were still around.
  7. We will get what ever we can get. They have also allowed us to buy another 18 Wheeler. They have also have us a one year cell phone contract for the Instructors of each organization. So, we are all happy. The Board and both Directors are sitting down discussing the tour schedule. We are also working on scheduling for TROY SUMMER MUSIC GAMES as well.
  8. The Westerners and The Charioteers would like to host the Troy, Alabama 18th June show.
  9. Turner County Bugle When an Organization decides to add a DII Corps into the mixed along side a DI corps that is fairly new, you might think why. The Westerners of Turner County have added a Division II Corps and has decided to make an organization out of it. "This helps us grow and gives the kids more opportunities to march Drum Corps but also gives them something to do and to earn what you get out of the experience," Johnson said. Johnson is the new Board of Directors President and looked upon this as a new and great experience. The original plan was to just make a Division II corps, but not have any association with DI, but after strong persuasion from Mr. Smith, The Westerners Director and other members of the Corps, they decided to cut that corps and make it associate with DI. Thus, creating a new organization and a new view of it. They began looking into how to make this leap possible. We need one maybe two 18 wheelers for the corps; more busses more equipment, and what have you. After all this we wondered how this was going to be possible, out of the blue, Mr. Smith brought us a check from the Verizon Company for over 12 Million Dollars, more then enough then we could possible need. The Board of Directors has to invest into a one 18 wheeler, possibly two, depending on where The Charioteers go. They have also invested into 7 charters busses for two corps, 4 for The Westerners and 3 for The Charioteers. - in progress This will be updated as time goes on
  10. After months of arguments and discussions with the board of The Westerners of Turner County. They have decided to expand the organization too two corps. I believe we made a post about fielding a new corps and then took them off. This was done by the board in hopes of changing colors and uniforms and just the other all look of the corps. They wanted to keep the same colors as The Westerners but mix it up a little. We hope they like what we have done and if not then they will change it at there own expense, they will also be kept in DII. So with that being said, The Music Organization of the South is proud to present The Charioteers. Our show is entitled Opener: Lincoln Portrait-Spoken Part and played Chorale: Simple Gifts (Appalachian Spring), Spoken Parts of Lincoln Portrait Closer: Promise of the Living (singing part)/ Hoedown, Spoken Parts of Lincoln Portrait More To Come!
  11. I do know that people turn things into there own and what now and I know enough people on here have respect on this site not to do that. I have been trying to find ways to copyright some of my uniforms, due to the amount of people using stuff as there own. But, you should also know that uniforms are very high demand and people always want the best. I personally like FJM. I know about competition, trust me I have been around long enough to know. I have many titles under my belt as we speak, so I know about competition. I understand your point and I have taken down my uniforms after a certain amount of time. I often don't even post my uniform, due to the fact people might take them and thats why I put the little post under them. You are making a argument about a little post that I posted about saying please don't take these. I post that under all my uniforms. I know people are going to take them.
  12. I do it because I am a business man, and I love doing it. Some Directors wanted there uniforms modeled after a few of there uniforms and I did so with variations of course. However, how would you feel if you knew some had "stole" your idea or something and changed it or used it without your knowning. Personally, I would not be happy nad thats why I put what I put. I try and be orginal, and I do look at FJM from time to time, but I don't take there ideas. If you think about almost all uniforms are done have same things to them but with some variation to them.
  13. The hours of operation for Smith Uniform will be starting this week. Due, to me having things to do and such with school and etc. I will be using this hours operation. If you send me a PM on Sunday, you will not get a response until Monday. Monday- Friday 8-5 Saturday 10-2 Sunday- closed
  14. I asked you because you need to have a reason why you opened. I did it to help me improve, b/c this is what I plan on doing with my life on top of being a HS Band Director. I don't really care if you stay or not, that’s not up to me, its you. Just calm down man.
  15. Look, I thaught you how to improve your uniforms. Companies say they are the best all the time and that doesn't really mean they are the best, it just means they are promoting there business. Directors have there own opinion, everything is based off of the Directors chose of company. I like Fred J. Miller over Stanbury, and thats my opinion. Some directors have chosen you over me, and thats what they wanted, it doesn't really matter.
  16. Smith Uniforms is the top uniform company in DCPI. I would hope that directors that do not have a uniform designed by Smith Uniforms, see that you are missing out on having the top uniform design copmany produce a uniform for your band. If you have any questions, any questions at all, please feel free to ask.
  17. After a great season for Smith Uniforms in DCPI, Smith Uniforms will continue to design. "We have had much success and want to continue," said David Smith. Smith Uniforms has always been one of the top leading companies, with new and fresh ideas. Smith Uniforms has designed many uniforms for leading corps such as, Star of Hawaii, Oracle, Zenith, Great Lakers, Crystal Coast Pirates, Bleu Knights, and much more. "We have a tradition and want to keep it alive. We have built up a company that ones started from just a idea, to what we have now," said Smith. Smith hopes that corps will continue to come to Smith Uniforms, so that the tradition can be shared with other corps world wide. Smith Uniforms will sent out a representative to personal view your band in playing, moving, and to get a overall feel of your corp. David will find the best uniform design that fits the corp. If you are not satisfied with the design, The Director and Mr. Smith will talk and come up with the best uniform to fit your corp. If you would like a uniform done by Smith Uniform please send me a PM with the info below; Director: Email: Corp: Colors: Silver or Gold: Mascot/where possible: Anything you would like to see:
  18. The Westerners have decided not to put The Charioteers on the field. The Westerners are not ready for this big of a move. We hope this will happen later in the coming seasons.
  19. Very true, I agree with you. All directors that have had a active part in DCPI show me allowed to vote.
  20. True. However, the novice Director to be allowed to have a vote/ opinion on such things.
  21. If this season goes well then the Organization will be adding another corps, pending of course.
  22. There is a little history about The Charioteers. Where I am currently living, Troy, Alabama. once had a DII drum corps, The Charioteers 1975
  23. The Westerners of Turner County has decided to extend the organization by adding a Division II corps to DCPI program. Everything is still coming about but the main things have been taken care of. The show will be announced soon, as well as the website being up. Every show The Westerners go to, The Charioteers wil be going to as well. We will have to increase by one or two buses, but will be less cost effected on the organization we are creating. 24. The Westerners have finally decided on there show. A brief history of what Mount TOBA Around 75,000 years ago, Mount Toba erupted on the island of Sumatra in what is now Indonesia. This was not your ordinary volcanic eruption. No, this was the largest known eruption in the last 450 million years, displacing 4,000 times as much earth and ash as the familiar Mount St. Helens eruption. The result seems to have been six years of "volcanic winter", which not only triggered an Ice Age that lasted 1,000 years but also caused massive deforestation, famine for all living things, and a major die-off of human beings. The latest genetic research indicates that the human population got as low as 2,000 individuals in Africa. There may have been isolated pockets of modern humans elsewhere (again most likely in Africa), but it appears that virtually all of the genetic and racial diversity we see today derives from an extremely small population of humans who survived a serious climatic crisis 3,000 generations ago. The selections will be the following: The Inferno Orignal compostion by Robert W. Smith Sumatra- David M. Smith Toba Dream- David M. Smith Music of the Night- David M. Smith
