  1. Might be the wrong place to post this - if so, please move/delete. Thanks.

Pretty much what the post title says. I figure it's about time that the database on themoviedb.org gets updated and corrected for all of the Championship Blu-Rays/DVDs (for those of us who are nerds about our metadata and Plex libraries) and I'm coming to y'all first to see if anyone has pictures/scans already OR wouldn't mind taking one or two.

If not, I'll knock it out myself, I just figured asking the community would be a good place to start. Many hands make light work and all of that.

I should mention, I already have everything I could lift from DCI's website, which is:

    • 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1993, 1995, 1997
    • 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009
    • 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

So, mostly looking for the old Legacy Collection covers.

    Needed:

    • 1979
    • 1980, 1981, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989
    • 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 1999
    • 2000, 2003, 2008

Feel free to message me or link to an Imgur upload or something if you can contribute.

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks everyone for using DrumScorps throughout the season. I received lots of good feedback and I hope everyone enjoyed using the app.

That being said, I am excited to announce that an Android version of DrumScorps is in the works! I am also moving all of my score data to a database which will allow for some new features that have been requested, including leaderboards and score trend charts. I'm looking forward to the 2015 season and making finding scores a bit easier for everyone!

P.S. - I'm not ruling out an iPhone version yet, just need to acquire the right developer tools before its possible.

Drewboo, I do want to say, you just made my night. I've been trying to court Android developers I know for the cause (Chris Lacy is an acquaintance who I thought would be good for it, too), but since none of those guys really did the drum corps thing, they just didn't get it...

    Few questions:

    Material design?

Is it going to have one of those awful hamburger sidebar things? (I've read some compelling articles that show those actually cup app use and time spent in app, so I have NO idea why Google made it part of the official design guidelines...)

At the very least, swiping left/right to move through diff parts of the app? (Like this?)

At any rate, I'm really excited for this. There's no DCI scores app on Android, as far as I know, so you're going to be the sole provider, and based off of what you did with the WP version, I'm sure this'll be great.

    WOOT.

  3. Different strokes for different folks. I have not seen Cadets or Bluecoats live so I have nothing to compare with what I saw at Stanford. but I liked what I saw. I don't see BD falling out of the top 2 this year, and SCV has a lot of potential and could easily medal by the end of the year. I am excited for Bluecoats if they are as good as people are hyping them, but they seem to have received a lot of hype early season over the past few years. I remember they even beat BD one or two shows a few years ago, but if I remember by the end of the year they ended up 5th. I love Cadets. I am not sure if I am ready for another Copeland show, but it depends on the whole production. They have certainly done Copeland proud in the past.

I hope that BD, Cadets, Bluecoats, Crown and SCV are all trading wins at the end of the season. It would be great, but I doubt it will happen.

I think that was 2007 (Centerville, OH) , and we ended up 7th. Womp womp.

  4. I'm waiting for a corps' narration to be all about what they are doing and why at that point in the show.

"Now we're going to play a run of 16th notes up and down all the voices because that helps us in Box <x> on the sheets"

"Now watch as the horns do unnecessary and low-quality body movement and dance to enhance the GE score"

"Here comes the mandatory solo dancer"

    We'll call the show...

    LITERAL

  5. This is perfectly fine....and I doubt anyone (fans) would have any problems with this.

Here is the thing though.....they did not communicate this. The announcement should have been something like this,

We are going to announce our show title on xyz day. Particulars regarding the musical choices will be announced once we have secured the appropriate licensing.

This is very informative and very professional.

sorry for the :soapbox: but....this is a huge problem in all facets of society...we have more tools than ever to communicate with..yet it is either mis-used or not used at all....

I guess from my perspective, I'm left wondering what obligation they owe anyone to do this? Would it quiet the complaining five or six people? Sure, but maybe they'd prefer to handle all their business in-house, and because it technically isn't anyone else's business, they released what they could.

Y'all realize they didn't have to release anything, right? So instead of complaining about what they didn't do, why not try and be happy for what they did do?

  6. Now that the dust has settled ...

While you mentioned Dave MacKinnon staying, above, it would appear that Facebook was not entirely accurate. For the record, additional 2012 Bluecoats brass staff that is "return" staff:

    Emery Craig

    Donny Allen

    James Freeman

Certainly MUCH more at SCV. Just defining it now that it's all mapped out.

Those're a good three to have. All smart, great teachers, and Emery will make a fine caption head.

  7. Here is how my Bluecoats are doing, after watching DCI Minnesota this past weekend:

    3) They still need to add more "Creep" to the show for this to move up in rankings. The main reason why Phantom Regiment beat them is because of GE, and the Bluecoats show just doesn't have enough of it, musically (note: I say musically because the guard work is one of the best this year, even though the judges don't agree yet).

I love Creep as much as the next guy, but I think you put too much emphasis on this one portion to magically infuse their show with Top 3 potential. Does the show need a bit more redesign? Yes, but if it were that simple, I think they would have done it already.

  8. Wow. I'm so friggin excited about this season now!

I didn't think the Bluecoats would have a second year like the last. Each time they have done really well, they are down the next season. This show is reminiscent of the Imagine show.

I don't know. Their talent is supposed to be a lot higher. It's just dirty right now. SO SO SO dirty. People are bagging out, getting exhausted, endurance issues, etc. I think their brass sound was great. I'm not a drum guy, so I can't speak to the unprecedented drop in perc. placement. Guard not tossing makes that a hard read, too.

I think most of the show is pretty cool. Might have to re-write a little part in the middle, but I trust the guys at Bloo to know how to clean. I definitely think it'll take the Coats a little while to finally get comfortable enough with this show to really start showing off with it.

But hey, everyone came to play this year, so they could still not get as high as people were anticipating earlier in the preseason. I, for one, think it's still too early for me to try and guess where they'll wind up.

  9. I added that later thinking the scores might be removed. Sorry you saw them.

I will take them out of the first post and place them here.

    1 The Cavaliers 74.325 0

    2 Blue Devils 73.300 -1

    3 Carolina Crown 72.625 -2

    4 The Cadets 71.825 -3

    5 Bluecoats 69.525 -4

    6 Phantom Regiment 69.525 -4

    7 Santa Clara Vanguard 67.975 -6

    8 Blue Stars 65.475 -7

Can't say I'm not surprised seeing the results, if those are accurate. I would have put Cadets over Crown, but Bluecoats starting below 70 is a bit worrisome. They are a dirty mess right now, though.
