  1. Also Jami, If any of us who want this thread to survive and thrive see a post that breaks the rules laid out in the disclaimer, can we somehow save the thread by informing management and having the individual post, instead of the whole thread, removed? And if we can do that, how do we do that? I'm new to the whole "message board" thing and don't know a lot of the technical aspects.
  2. Yea Jami!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I said in the previous thread, DCI policy should include the right to search personal belongings. I heard some people turn this into drug testing, which I agree would be too costly. However, the threat of a search at any given time in any given place may be a good hindrance. It's a start.
  3. We could just tell jokes........that's not controversial........I'll start. Two underage drunken hookers walk into a bar........................oops!
  4. You know Jim........with all of the laws that Rendell has broken, you most definitely can't talk about him in here.
  5. Oh great.........now you gone and done it. Now this thread will be a goner too! You can't talk about illegal activity. Now excuse me while I go get in my car and drive 85 mph.............oops I guess I shouldn't have said that.
  6. Actually, underage people can't talk about taking part in drinking because that would be talking about committing an illegal act. People of age can talk about drinking, as long as it is their own drinking and not the drinking of some underage drinker who was drinking with them, because that would be talking about underage drinking (which is illegal) and it would be condoning underage drinking. If you are underage and you are drinking while you are posting, then.........well.......you might understand the stupidity of removing certain productive threads. HOWEVER, I am NOT in any way condoning underage posters to drink while posting, because that would be ..........you get the picture. Dang.........I need a drink. And yes, I am of age...........however, I don't know how old this smiley is. If this smiley is underage, then will this post get terminated? Or worse yet, am I guilty of supplying alcohol to underage smiley's. Anybody know where I can get a fake ID for a smiley............uh oh that would be illegal too...............AAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!!!
  7. So if I don't like a post, all I have to do is steer the thread in a direction that gets somebody to talk about an illegal activity and then report it. Once again, ......oh forget it.........like it will change anything anyway. I'll just shut up and go away. That thread actually had me excited about the possibilities of something really being done about drugs in DCI. This truly SUCKS........and I never say that.
  8. But Jami....that's the problem. There are people condoning it in the activity too. Of course there will be people on the boards condoning it. That's why it needs to be talked about. So put a disclaimer on the thread or something that says DCP does not promote or condone illegal activity and the opinions stated in this thread do not necessarily reflect the opinions of DCP management. Thats better than just saying, "SHUT UP....You can't talk about that here."
  9. Jami, I respect you greatly as a person, but you really must be kidding on this. This activity MUST address this issue. Ignoring it and sticking our heads in the sand is absolutely reprehensible. This forum is the most widely known communication avenue in the drum corps activity and it has an extremely diverse representation of decades of drum corps experience. This is exactly the place this discussion should begin. The illegal rule thing is simply a cop out. There are posts all over this forum where people talk about their underage drinking exploits, stealing "souvenirs" on tour, speeding buses (it is illegal), and various other things. The truth is, the powers that be have dropped the hammer because God forbid anybody would know there are drugs in DCI. So there is my concern and here is my question. Will the moderation team now be searching every single thread on this board and removing each and every thread that has reference to illegal activity or will you admit that the only illegal activity that really isn't open for discussion is drugs?
  10. I'm gonna hate myself for this one..........but............... It went up in smoke! b**bs
  11. I'm a novice in here, but I did a search of all forums under the search link, and it didn't appear to be anywhere.
  12. Not gonna change the subject. It wouldn't be prudent at this juncture. If DCI corps were touring where the drugs are legal, then so be it. However, drugs are still legal in the USA. And lay off my coffee man..............I don't have a problem!!! :mmm: b**bs
  13. I haven't been in here for very long, and I'm just hoping I haven't now struck a nerve and will be "exorcised" from the community. If I suddenly disappear, know that it was involuntary and remember me fondly. :D
  14. Not really. Many drugs are extremely helpful. I was just in the hospital recently and recieved many anibiotics, pain killers, blood thinners,etc... All good for a purpose and not evil. However, illegal drugs are still illegal.
  15. The post is the same as the title. Where did the thread on drugs in drum corps go? Was there a forum rules violation or something? As somebody who has experienced this dark side of the activity, I feel it is something that should be discussed and brought to light, and it sure is a whole lot more important than some stupid cell phone thread which is still up.
  16. Hey.........which is better, an oboe or a bassoon? A bassoon.........because it burrrrrrrns much longer.
  17. Funny article. Another productive use of woodwinds.............kindling. (I bet you never heard that one before)
  18. Are they going camping hundreds of miles away from home for over two months? If so, my answer is yes, my son would not go. I never said I would deny my child the opportunity. I said my child would have the opportunity with another corps that allows cell phones until he was 18, paying his own tour fees, and paying his own cell bill. Then he can march any place he wants. That gives him three years to march with the "No Cell Phone Cadets" or the "Mobileless Matadors" if he so chooses. Until then, I'm the parent, the rulemaker, the provider, the bill payer............you get the picture. You don't have to like it.......but you're not raising my son.
  19. I have an all time classic that will forever be one of the most memorable moments in all of drum corps. Not because it was great, but because it was "bust a gut" hilarious. 1981 DCA Championships........the Westshoremen come to the big climax in "Impossible Dream" and they release a flock of half dead doves that just walk around the field instead of flying. The show got delayed and the corps had to come back out and "shoo" the doves off of the field or risk a penalty. Can you imagine the PETA crowds reaction to that if it happened today?!?!
  20. Well........in that case, let me say it now "No chance in hell Coats will win the 2007 DCI World Championships" The Bluecoats..........cruisin from 12 to 1 in 20years. ^OO^
  21. That's a real mature reply there. What year do you age out kid.....2015?
  22. I brought that tragedy into the discussion to show the hypocrisy exemplified in this argument. Is a parent a bad parent if they don't know what their child is doing and not communicating with their child on a daily basis..........or...........is a parent a bad parent if they won't let their child go with an organization for over two months because that organization wants to take away the easiest way for that parent to know what their child is doing and communicate with their child daily.
  23. It also blows my mind that some of the same people who were screaming in the Virginia Tech threads about "how could the parents not know" are some of the same people who now are saying "your a bad parent if you won't let an organization take your child away for over two months without a cell phone so you can easily continue communications with him."
