  1. Hmm, this could be tricky...

    10) BAC '04 - Good corps, just didn't like the show concept. Thought Xmen '03 did a better color show.

    9) Spirit '04 - For what they had in '02 and '03 this show was a let down.

    8) Madison '07 - Meh. Too much hype imo. Nothing spectacular.

    7) Cavies '07 - Great corps, just a let down from the last couple of years.

    6) PR '04 - This show is just forgettable to me. I don't think I could sing 1 lick from that show.

    5) SCV '05 - After '04, a big let down. Performance and design were both down.

    4) Blue Stars '06 - Only saw it once. That was enough for me.

    3) BK pretty much any year - For whatever reason, I just can't get into BK shows. Did like the intro to '03 though...

    2) Crown '04 - I think I have to go back and watch it again, but I remember really not liking this show.

    1) BD '05 - Usually I like Devils, but this show just never did it for me.

  2. You know, try as I might, I can't begin to figure out what good could possibly come from a thread like this. I can't imagine why the original poster started it, except for to give people a convienient way to hurt the feelings of about 1300 hard-working young people (if you listed 10 corps and they all had the maximum number of members).

And anyone who responded with a list is as bad as the original poster, IMO.

Threads like this just emphasis the garbage that keeps a lot of drum corps fans that I know from ever going to DCP.

The funny thing is that 4 out of the 5 shows I have marched so far made it into peoples least favorite shows....on the other side though, 3 out of the 5 have been mentioned in the "favorite" one. Funny stuff I guess....

  3. Show sounds awesome. I have always thought BD marched extremely well, so it will be interesting to see how aggressive they can get with the visual package. It would be nice to see them move just a bit more (maybe less park and bark's??). Anyways very excited to see this show. Actually pretty excited to see most of the shows this year. Most competitive year in drum corps history ftw?? Should be fun!

  4. No I'm not- I just don't like the last three shows the Cadets have put on the field. It's just that simple. There are many other drum corps fans that feel the same. I know what I like and I know what I don't. The amazing thing is the number of whiners that attack me for my opinion - thinking that they might somehow change my mind or #### me off or anger me with their replies. Not going to happen.

Just trying to point out that you may be the most narrow minded person on DCP. Those shows were amazing. If you disagree, go listen to those hornlines. Now those guys know how to play. If you can't enjoy the show, you can atleast agree with me on that!

  5. The only performance I disagree with was BD '07. Great show, just preferred '06 over it. Kinda surprised Coats '07 made it. I love that show, just really liked the '05 show much much more.

Oh and BigSnareline........have you EVER said anything good about Cadets. It seems like every single thread you post in, you manage to bring up how they are atrocities on the field. Is it really that painful to watch one of the best performed shows of all time (Cadets '05)?

  6. How could the #### cadets POSSIBLY be winning this vote? Pathetic.

You know what the great thing about drum corps is???? You can go and watch your favorite corps anytime you want. What good does it do to call out a corps for winning an online poll? I think the Cadets are probably going to survive, even though you are not a fan........just a guess. Have a nice day. You have a very nice drum corps

  7. i just watched a video of cadets 07, and i'm wondering what it is you're looking at that's so impressive... drill is not as hard as phantom's, playing isn't as loud, and i can DEFINITELY hear people sticking out, much more so than with phantom.

Were we watching/listening to the same corps? Phantom didn't even come close to demand of drill nor volume of hornline. I think you just might be in the minority for thinking it. But hey, if Phantom is your favorite corps, more power to you.

For me, Cavies endings are OK. I honestly did like the '03 ending, mainly because it made sense for that show. Like 04 and 06, not so much 02, 05, and 07. But hey, if you like it, more power to you.

  8. I think it's obvious they're thinking of this more as a recruiting tool then anything.

It's on a school night so they've cut back to only 6 corps so the show will be shorter and students can be home at a reasonable time. The line up will be 6 shows from the last three years which will also correspond to 6 ot the 7 top elite corps (no one else will stand a chance).

The only question is of the top 7 corps who will get left out?

Probably either Cadets or SCV. Cadets have a shot because the majority will vote for 05 out of the last 3 years. SCV might be in trouble b/c 06 and 07 were both great shows and votes might be torn between them. The same argument might be made about crown the last 2 years. Cavies 06 will make it, as will Phantom 06. BD probably 06.

    Anyway, my votes will be:

    -Cadets 05

    -Phantom 06

    -Cavies 06

    -Bluecoats 06

    -SCV 06

    -Crown 07

  9. Actually, it was an article on their website. You can check it if you want. It was a nice read. And secondly, I don't know how many vets other corps have. But hey, a lot of people put up a stink about how it is good to have veteran presence. I was pointing out the fact that this year will most likely be a better corps because their rookies have gone through the system already. There are some who marched before 2007 (and didn't march that year) who are in the corps this year. My reliable source? Someone who has marched The Cavaliers the last two years.

Don't Cavies generally have great vet turn out anyway? So what is another 5 or 10 when you statistically have more return each year than most corps?

OK, you have me interested, why?

2nd year members usually get a big head and always think they are right because they have marched a year. they usually try to give out corrections to other members and fix things that aren't their responsibility. Or atleast that is what I have experienced

  10. Absolutely, which is a result of the DCI touring model. You create a model like that, you are setting up 80% of your corps to fail. In short - a flawed business model. It's the very reason I advocate a DCA junior, weekend only division.

I agree with you. The only thing though, is as of this summer, DCI is trying to fix this problem. The tour has been shortened by 2 weeks (starts 2 weeks later in June). Hopefully this change will help strengthen the corps we have, and offer a chance for more corps to break out. Along with the topic though, woodwinds would not be the answer. The answer is figuring out a better tour to allow more people the opportunity to get to the seats.

  11. Without assessing the artistic merits, the fact that you can do more things with them (Devil's train effect as an early example) doesn't mean the technology is solid.

You're right, it doesn't mean it is solid, that is shown through the finals recordings of all the corps using them. Problems are going to happen with any technology. I've gone to many professional events, as I am sure you have, where professionals have problem with amps, wireless mics, etc. It's all about figuring them out, which is what every corps has done by finals week.
