is it just me or did more then a few MM looked like they needed to lose about 20 pounds.
-
I wanted to be grabbed. Sadly I wasn't. this is kind of boring visually and not very dynamic musically.
-
Unis kind of remind me of a DCA corps from Ohio back in the 80s who wore hard hats.
-
I'm hearing a ton of intonation issues

Phantom 89 and 27th 80 without question. Great iconic shows and also 2 of the biggest screw jobs in DCI history.

DCA is currently losing corps, especially in the mid-west. I believe DCA would welcome the Pioneers with open harms despite the founder. It wouldn't surprise me if DCA made Roman its new President. 😄LOL!!!
Gregory I would respectfully disagree but I think you are trying to be facetious my friend....lol

boy is that ever great news!!!

Has anyone thought ,that if DCA admitted them, what the reaction would be from DCI? Not favorably I would think. I say no, not under any circumstances.

So I heard the story about I. C. Reveries and then the formation of 27th Lancers. BUT.....I believe they competed in 1974. I also remember a former member of my corps in NY (Joel Lamarre) going to march with them.
2nd illiteration of the corps, not the original Reveries

St.Lucy's being banned from the New Jersey Turnpike. Uhhh they weren't choir boys or altar boys. Also getting into it with Boston Crusaders up in Bridgeport inside the stadium and the cops just locked them in and didn't do much to separate the corps. Boston was a very very tough corps back then and you didn't #### with them and that included the girls. A bunch of kids from Southie.
Honorable mention goes to the I.C. Reveries sitting down on the starting line in 66 at the VFWs in protest of not making finals. This actually led to the demise of the corps when the Parish decided not to sponsor the corps. But the corps reorganized and out of that came the 27th Lancers.

In my first corps -The Raiders of 88-the only staff member I saw was Tommy Swan. i never saw a percussion instructor or a marching instructor. Fran maybe you can ask Lenny or Benny or your sister who they were.

Me neither.
Seriously... I had early exposure to DCA, going back to 1971, since our local-circuit junior corps' brass arranger during that time was John Arietano of the Sunrisers (he's the main reason I and a number of folks from NJ ended up with Sun)... and my brother-in-law marched with the Hawthorne Caballeros in 1972 and '73.
A friend marched with DCA's Westshoremen in 1995-96, after a hiatus from corps of about 25 years or so. So, like in your case, it can happen!!!How many people did we have in 77? 10-15? We were called the Jersey crew of course and had dead puppy contests on the Belt Parkway and even the occasional crispy critters contests which is people burning in cars. Winner got a beer at Joe's Bar and Grill

I was there. Low brass has new Jupiter horns - huge sound coming out of the horn line. Also, got to hear the first 5 or 6 minutes of the show with brass & percussion. As almost everyone says who goes to any corps' April camp, they sounded like top 10 material. Well, they did! And yes, it's a fun, upbeat show. Lots of excitement all around.
When I saw them this past season, I thought WOW!! and said to friends that they would be a top 12 corps but maybe 2 years down the road. Maybe Sooner?

St. Rita's Brassmen for their final two seasons... 1972-73.
the only corps that could get away with playing 3 blind mice. Hy Dreitzer arrangements if I remember correctly. Why they didn 't go to DCI in 72 and 73 is still a mystery.

Can we maybe bottom line this discussion?
Is this it?....Is this the end of Drum Corps as we know it?

My older brothers marched with Little Falls that final season for the corps in '68.
One went to the Manville Crusaders for the 1969 season. The other joined a more nationally-known organization called the Air Force.
And did some very high level spying if IIRC. Wasn't he stationed in Hong Kong IIFC?

I would also go with Velvet Knights, Sky Ryders and Freelancers. Outstanding corps with iconic shows and Sky Ryders possibly the best 12 th place corps ever.
