Heh. Good luck cleaning that guard...

Actually, for me, the worst part of that paragraph was the fact that the Madison Scouts, one of the oldest players in the game, have the word "Corp" on their website. Shame.
That, to me, is always like nails on a chalkboard. Even though it's written. Grrrr.

Um, it's a simple phrase to indicate contrast, like "nevertheless" or "however."

Mmm, beef jerky...haven't had that in a while.
Ew, the smell of that stuff makes me want to throw up.

Brad Green is the man. If you are considering Blue Stars and are brass do it....you will not be dissapointed.
Yep!

I don't know where y'all are coming from or what you're auditioning for, but aside from the full corps November camp in Indianapolis, they also have a brass and percussion camp in Minnesota and a colorguard camp in California.

I would be if I hadn't aged out... :(
A bunch of my friends are, though.

Yay! Good for them! It seems World Class may GROW this year, for once!!
-
I think most/many corps do. If not official "fan" pages, then groups for alumni/fans/etc.
-
Ha! Yeah, it DOES also say "drug and bulge" corps under the headline. How hilarious. Thanks for the links. :D
-
ugh...that's just wrong
Beat me to it... yuck

Did anyone else see it tonight? A misprint in a newspaper headline, shown on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, saying that a "Drum and bulge corps" performed at some festival. pretty cool lol
Oh how funny. It should be on their website, then, within a week. I love the Headlines sements; alas, I am the only college student I know that does not own a TV.

Welp...there goes my GPA.
Ditto.

I think you need to lose the Irish theme.
Sometimes, perception is reality. We could go on and on about what a wealth of great Irish-flavored music there is, or how much non-Irish music can be reworked to fit into an Irish-themed show, and so on. You don't need to convince me - I have recordings of the great musical ideas the corps brought us in the early-mid 1990s. Problem is that over the past several years, a perception has developed that the corps is restricting their creative choices so much that it is driving good staff people and horn players away, leading to a vicious circle of low placements and tougher recruiting. Perhaps if enough talented people had been dedicated to developing the Irish motif (as there were in the early-mid 1990s), this would not be an issue....but it certainly appears to be an issue now.
Abandoning the Irish theme would send the message that Pioneer is serious about changing the status quo.
I hate to say it, but I do have to agree with this. I have a TON of respect for Pioneer and their staff and kids. I know people who've had fantastic experiences there. But I also know a ton of people who wouldn't go there because they wouldn't want to do an Irish-themed show year after year.
I also think the uniforms could use an overhaul. I believe I recall seeing a picture somewhere of the previous DM uniforms... white with a sequinced shamrock? I may just be imagining it. But I swear I do vaguely remember something like that that looked really sharp. I don't like the plaid.
Again, I have the utmost respect for Pioneer, but I do see the biggest issue as the redundant show concepts/music, and I think the uniforms aren't helping.

I think they should play "Dies Irae" and add vocal moaning and random gun shots to it, just to relax the contestants.
This would be a strategy for Sony (I think?) to introduce if Jeopardy starts losing money and needs to cut back on how much they award contestants.

Can you make one for INT? Just use a picture of a bathroom sign.
There already is one; it has a hot dog on it.

Oh, I can top that. One of my instructors at VK worked in the sound room for It's a Small World at Disneyland. Listen to THAT for 8 hours a day.
Oh my God, I would probably shoot myself before my first day ended, lol.
Re: old Jeopardy theme... I had to idea that the trumpet player was a corps veteran! That's cool. They should definitely bring it back!!

Don't worry. I'm a TV prodcuer and I don't even have cable. :)
OK, I feel better now. I'm about the only college student I know who doesn't have a TV in their room, haha. Though I am rather addicted to the computer, so I guess it all events out!

Um, seeing as you forgot "I have no plans to buy one" in the first question and "I don't have a flat screen" in the last question, I didn't take part in the poll...
-
Oh no!!! That was my favorite part of the whole show!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was so beautiful...
-
ouch..
its already been said
The goal of the Blue Stars is to give the kids a quality education, not to win a title...
Quoted for truth. And a quality education it is.
-
Bump. Go Blue Stars! :)

Surprised it hasn't made it here yet.
Got a google alert on this yesterday:
Wow... there are just so many resignations this year, from so many corps! I wonder if there will be some sort of overall effect on drum corps...
What color are you?

Yeah, it's true. Lol.
Zomg though; halfway through tour they randomly started introducing this peach stuff... IT WAS AMAZING!!!! I'm pretty sure I thought it was differently-concentrated Pink until I tried it... and then I went all bug-eyed and had to get more. DEE-LICIOUS!
