First of all, the poll is painfully biased with that parenthetical mumbo-jumbo and the "also-ran" BS after the 10th place option. Secondly, if the judges would allow an A Class corps into Open Class finals, there will be hell to pay for those said judges. Lastly, if you make the Sunday show, who cares where the judges put you. You've made your trip worthwhile by doing an extra show for the crowd. Scoring is so over-rated in this entertainment field.

I can't wait for the trip to Wisconsin. Doing DCI shows is so lame. Bring on the DCA-C: "For those about to march...we salute you". Looking forward to real grassroots drum corps and no kiddie corps. See you all there!

Yes, in the Govenaires, we have found that drum corps and bocce ball go well together. We would love to challenge any other corps to a game. We always have a set on our corps truck.
Patrick's rock (of course I'm prejudice since I live across the street from there.

We have one snare, one pit, one trumpet, one mellophone, and one guard (turning 40 next Monday) in the over forty club. I think over half of the corps is now over thirty. It is truly a senior corps.

Sorry, it's all wrong. We are not including any shows judged by four effect judges or any by any judges supporting an "i" in their circuit's logo. We're also eliminating all corps that are competing anywhere except in the northeast of the country or having a penalty. Lastly we're including the standard deviation in the score and running a t-test on head to head competitions with respect to how high a "soprano" player can play (Alpha < .05). Results:
We're all winners! We're in drum corps!

Drums go bang bang bang. What's the brand got to do with it? You can play on pots and pans with the same result.
(heh heh heh)

I did not see the show in the stands, but from the parking lot, Phantom was the loudest with Crown next. Loud is good!
-
Thanks for the review. Not sure what this "soprano" thing is. Is that an opera singer or a gangster?
Just kidding, traditionalists. Drum corps is still fun!

Scores shmores!
...good to get the first one in the books...

Yes, Pat, the new bus is incredible. The best of the fleet thus far. I really began to detest riding school buses, but I now think that it was a direct result of riding on crappy buses the last few years. I think we have a winner in this new one and I look forward to experiencing it.
Back to the main topic: DCA should increase the number of class A corps in the night show because of class A being their largest class now. They should also invent a new class called class X, where drum coprs would do "extreme" things like hot dog eating contests, tractor pulls, and wet tshirt contests.
..OK maybe I kid a little, but the more class A corps equals a better chance for us to do more than one show at the championships (which has always been our goal...4 for 4 so far ), so let's increase it to, say, 10 or so (or 4 would be fine).

I will love drum corps no matter what. It would be a better world if no one knew the rule changes so they could enjoy drum corps for what it is and not what they want it to be.

Oh no! We're going to have to have a Nutville throwdown this summer. Good choice! It's a mighty powerful tune. Our arrangement kicks major asss (Thanks you, Dennis).

Fun charts, fun people, fun times.
Business as usual in the Govenaires.
Good luck to all you drum corps heads. See you when the weather gets warmer.

I think "the gaunlet" will be a dca tradition from now on. I'm so proud that my corps had a big part in starting that activity (primarily due to us being in the parking lot early because the As go on first). It was definitely a tribute to the people who are going through the same thing that we are.
It always amazes me how the similarities in drum corps and drum corps people far outweigh the differences.
Long live drum corps!

The Govenaires converted to B-flat/Fs this season. Sounds as though no one could tell the difference or you wouldn't be asking. It kind of defeats your whole argument. Put that on a tshirt.
-
It's easy. I love hanging out with drum corps people. Everything else fades in comparison. I especially love seeing my sister Mary at DCA.
-
Nice job, Sun! Can't wait to see the videos. Everyone is raving about your show.
-
We're all in except the fliers. Green bus rocks. See you all at the fun.
-
Come to the green bus with the racing stripe and say hello to the Govenaires this weekend. You'll be happy that you did!

I've been involved with drum corps since birth. Drum corps has never stayed the same in my 46 years. It has always been in a state of flux and some people keep up with those changes and some people don't. I feel sorry for the folks that yearn for the old days, they'll eventually lose their taste for modern drum corps and live off dated video and audio tapes, while others will love drum corps from all generations.

Never doubted you guys. As long as there is good in the world, evil will always exist.
See you guys at DCA. Be sure to stop by the big green bus and say hey to the Govies. We love the Renegades (because evil is so fun!).

Govenaires:
Julius - Angie Braunwarth (Mellophone)
Love for Sale - Sarah Houle (Baritone)
Harlem Nocturne - Jim Henry (Mellophone) Ryan Shirk (Baritone)
Sing, Sang, Sung - None

The Sunday show has been moved to St. Peter High School. It's a small town, you'll be able to find it.
