  1. When I visited them in April, nobody mentioned anything about new uniforms. I know they had said they wanted to get new ones during and after last season, but last I heard they were willing to stick with the ones they have for 2008 and then getting new ones in 2009. So maybe that's what they're doing and that's why you're not hearing much about them for this year. Not really sure.

i wouldn't call it new unis...it's the same unis....with some alterations....but they'll be cool, i saw them making them, haha.

  2. Oh yeah...those masks got to be pretty nasty by the end of tour. The REAL fun was having boiling-hot mesh placed on your face to create the basic shape of the mask, to which strips of gauze soaked in plaster-of-paris were applied. Some unfortunate folks had to have a second mask made mid-season! I made SURE to dry mine after every show - once was enough for me!

    haha that's some cool info i didn't know =)

    oh yea *89 for me*

  3. I know that. ut you don't go from making crap to gold in a year. Just doesn't happen.

again, you're still not paying attention. lol. They've spent years working on this. And besides we all know different makes within brands do make a difference. All manufactures make *beginner, intermediate, and professional level horns, while each is from the same company, they can be COMPLETELY different in quality. (and price...)

  4. yes that's true, this is not the usual set of jupiter horns. Jupiter really sat down and wanted to become a contender in the drum corps area, and they're getting there. The mellos (as according to the MelloCast) are a really good horn, and it's only a matter of time before that starts happening.

  5. I'll make a comment, because....i just got back from spring training from the crossmen. Why am I back? money to be honest. although it's a weak point...I didn't have a choice, because it wasn't going to figure itself out on it's own, and i need to go to college and be able to come home to a house. Things didn't go the way they were supposed to.

Either way, I think there's usually a said deadline in march (march 15 comes to mind for some reason) That you must have written permission form the corps director to move to another corps.

On the other hand, leaving later in the season usually results in a loss of money. In my case, I got tuition back, but not the spring training fee.

  6. Would you consider "booing" to be a form of narration ?

What if a show was written to include and promote the audiance as an active part of the show ?

Now I would consider THAT to be a little more towards some sort of a "cutting edge".

I heard Phantom was doing that this year with Spartacus....

  7. It's interesting how crowds react to the Cadets vis a vis other narration-heavy shows. I don't recall booing in response to the BD '05, Cascades '05 and Bluestars '06 shows (though BD was criticized and mocked on-line for the Yowzas).

I didn't think anyone liked BD 2005....lol. When I think about it...2005 was a bad year in DCI to me...*just saying, i'll run to my corner now*

  8. I agree with you...the use of narration in those shows was quite different. I still don't think there would've been as much negative feedback for the Cadets in 2007 if they had a different director or if George wasn't so public with his opinions. Right or wrong, some people heard the narration in the Cadets show and felt that it was George preaching to them. Some people have very strong opinions about George and apparently aren't shy about expressing them and the kids suffered for it. And I don't think that would've happened had George not been so public about his views.

I could see that very much so. But also in my opinion, the kids who march cadets know it's coming, or at least i would hope so.

ALSO while i'm thinking whoever said why would someone who's providing an educational setting put those kids in that position...last timed i check..everything you LEARN educational doesn't happen at a show.

  9. I don't believe in booing a show. It's not right. Here's something to ponder...do you really think that if the Cadets were directed by somebody other than George, they would've been booed so much in 2007? I don't think so. After all, Bluecoats and Crown had narration in their shows and they didn't get nearly the amount of negative feedback.

lol well...those are no where near the same shows or effect of narration?

i mean cadets did a show centered around it. Coats and Crown used it for effect....see the difference?

    BTW, I'd never boo. lol

  10. jesus why is everyone whining lately?

How would you access the penalty? That's the problem. If they don't play the minimum time (is there one?) then yes give them a penalty. But at the same time how can you can someone standing still and playing as 'incomplete' (keep in mind i'm getting technical here, and that years ago, it was quiet frequent to see such.)

Maybe you can see my argument? It's rather hard to explain how i see it, lol

  11. 2004 Cavaliers will probably never be available for the internet version. From what we were told by a representative from CopyCat Music Licensing at a WGI Advisroy Board meeting a attended a few years ago, it was a miracle Cavaliers were allowed to do James Bond to begin with. They are very protective of the copyright of James Bond music and it was pure luck the Cavaliers were allowed to do it. She even said that CopyCat wouldn't even try to get the rights for another group again because its ot worth the hassle involved.

The same can probably be said for Van der Roost's Stonehenge and Cadets '98, copyright fees for his works are outrageously expensive.

ugh, so stupid. i want to punch every copyright activist like that in the face. *oh my, not precious james bond*
