  2. After many years of emails from smaller corps in the East SDCA is officially opening the East Coast Region. Congratulations to Paul Christopher, the director for this region, for taking on this challenge. SDCA is not limiting to corps size and we will not interfere with your involvement in DCA or DCI. If you would like to assist Paul or you would like your group to perform in SDCA's East Coast Region email SDCAferrara@yahoo.com or visit our web site www.theSDCA.org and "contact us".

  4. Is someone volunteering to be the web master? We could use more help.
  5. There really is no SDCA vs DCI SS. SDCA is just doing it’s own thing. We work with community festivals to get these smaller groups into a paid parades and then entertain the community with a drum corps show either indoor or outdoor the same day, what ever the community will support. With this method we have given the performing groups from $800 to $2500 for each performance in 2013. Our staff are volunteers so it is difficult to get all this together and do a good publicity job. We are trying our best. Since 2007 we have grown to seven regions: Southern Cal, Texas, Gulf Coast, Central, Northern and Eastern Midwest with Florida moving along slowly. We have had 40 groups perform at our shows. Additionally we have assisted Canada in forming their own circuit and provided our theme music to South Africa groups. I have been in contact with John DeNovi, the DCI Sound Sport director, and we are working together to get smaller community based corps formed. John will be inviting SDCA groups to perform in DCI SS shows and he will be and has been giving me the names of the new DCI SS team so that I can invite them to SDCA shows. I hope this has answered the thread.

  18. As we have felt the pulse of drum corps in the Midwest SDCA has decided to now encourage a “Concert” type of drum corps. These corps will use music stands for all of their SDCA performances and they will do parades on a flatbed truck. The drum line will consist of one set drummer and there will be no color guard. We think this will be a more relaxed involvement for its members. No memorization of music or drills. Cost of operation will be minimal as only one instructor will be needed; music only. In every community there are many flat beds to use. They are free as the owners gets to advertise their company as they drive in the parade. We are now looking to you for your interest in starting up a “Concert” corps. SDCA can assist in all of your organizational needs. Contact SDCA on the web site. www.theSDCA.org
