  1. Sure, why not allow them into world-class, if they are:

    1. interested in making the move

    2. planning to attend championships every year

Neither of those were true last time I checked....but if that changes, I don't see why being another program of the BD organization should preclude them from doing world-class. Didn't stop Madison Scouts from operating Southwind.

Madison and Southwind were part of the same organization? You learn something new everyday. Next thing you know, someone's going to reveal that Phantom Regiment and the Cavaliers are ran by the same people too (that would actually provide a solution for turning down female auditioners who are good enough to march).

  2. Really enjoying BD's show this year. Is it another Phenomenon of Cool or Winged Victory? Definitely not, but this show is still very well designed. One of the things I really like about this show is its simplicity. I don't need to listen to the designer's commentary to get this show, it is what it is. With the show as it is, it'd be sweet for them if this was number 13. With an in your face tag on ending (you know it's coming), I'll be rooting for the blue team Finals night.

  3. 2 Cents on the top 5:

    - Off night for Vanguard so 5th is justified

    - Spread between Crown and Cadets was pretty accurate, coulda been a tie

    - BD is on fire, but they will inevitably plateau at some point in the next two weeks.

    - That said, unless some major cleaning happens (and it does happen), BD is getting number 13.

    - Could it be that Cavs are playing louder than MF? I like this.

    - Finals Predictions based on absolutely nothing: BD by a pt., Cadets, SCV, Crown, Cavaliers all within .5

  4. I've never cried from watching corps before, but this show had me close to tearing up when I saw the company front + toast. Amazing design with class Vanguard is known for.

One thing I do miss however, is the straight-leg marching style and horn carriage position they had in the early 2000's. I revisited Scheherezade the other night and man, did the corps look big! The cavies bent-leg, regular horn horn carriage may work better for a show like Martha, but am I the only one that misses the rigid bad###ness of their old style?

  5. The Phantoms of Rockford will bring back the wedge and kick.

The Crest of the Pacific will be a serious finals contender.

The Vanguard from Santa Clara will start weak but finish strong, overtaking corps as the season progresses.

The Green Machine from Rosemont will continue to decline unless a new design philosophy is established.

The Blue corps that seemingly gets boo'ed by everyone will come out strong, but the other groups of its caliber will overtake them eventually.

Holyname shall rise again and re-establish itself in the hearts of fans everywhere.

  6. Please PLEASE do not have any narration in this show.

Before you start flaming me as one of your typical amp-hatin' trolls, I need to make it clear that I don't hate narration, amps, electronics, etc. As a matter of fact, this I Believe was one of my favorite shows of 2007, largely BECAUSE of the narration that complimented the show.

I really do not see any reason to justify talking in a WSS show. When you play Bernstein, the music should already be able to speak for itself. On another note, I can't wait to see how they incorporate jazz piano into the show.

Pursuit of Happiness was a huge letdown for me last year, so I am really hoping 2009 will be a redemption year. Cadets + Bernstein = Win.
