  1. I found out from a few sources in the KAC that Lance Kellog won 2nd place snare that year. Lance was one of the big 8 snares in the Kingsmen 72 corps. He also marched in the KAC at the Rose Bowl in 07.
  2. Thanks....I just found out from a source that there was not individuals in 72 but there were in 73. Rob Carson won snare in 73. However there is no record to be found until 74 and beyond.
  3. Does anyone know if there is any record of individuals scores at DCI for the years 1972 and 1973. So far we have only found record from 1974 and beyond....
  4. Man I gotta agree 100% with you on this!..What a great photo of a group of beautiful ladies!...especially the one directly to the right of the trophy!...What a looker she is!! :)
  5. Thats the Kingsmen rifle line...nearly perfect everytime! :)
  6. Its also difficult to determine which are ticking here....I see (from left) snares 2,3,4,7 and 8 with exact right hand heights...but then I see snares (from left) 1, 5 and 6 with exact right hand heights......so who are the real culprits! THATS the question!! LOL
  7. Thanks Greg!...I loved that line....saw them at the Long Beach show and was really impressed with the bongo stuff!...as for the ticking. Unfortunatly it is next to impossible to get a photo of a snareline where all the stick heights and angles are perfect. I bet the judge didn't catch any of it!...Its just like photos of rifle lines...and I may be biased but the only rifle line photos I have ever seen that were dead on were of the Kingsmen! :)....while I am at it if someone can show me a photo of any snareline where the heights and angles are perfect please post it! ;).....its funny how in "real" time you don't notice this stuff...I bet if looking at this shot in real time you would think "perfection"!!
  8. Thanks for clearing that up for me Greg! Interesting stuff!...That sure does look like you though :)....I know Bill Giemann well...he marched cymbals in Kingsmen in 76....I believe he marched 3 winning Blue Devil years too...on cymbal and bass
  9. Greg M. Are you in this photo?...I think thats you 5th from the right? Also is Scott in this too? Awesome photo!
  10. They guy on the left looking in is thinking" man you guys are really ticking!!..maybe this should be a solo act??"
  11. Would like to bring this topic back to the forefront "just in case" someone out there has missed it. We drum corps fans of Southern California are desperately seeking ANY thing in regards to footage on any media of So Cal drum corps. I know there were a couple of responses when this thread started and we would like to know if there has been any progress in regards to this? Knowing there were MANY drum corps fans out there with 8mm film cameras in the late 60's and early 70's leads me to believe SOMEONE out there posesses some footage!...There HAS to be!....If you do...please know that we from the Kingsmen and other So Cal drum corps would pay dearly for copies of such film/video!!....all who read this PLEASE pass a word along and get this ball rolling!!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! Kingsmen Alumni
  12. WOW! Thanks for these! I am certain these particular photos have never been seen before! Thanks for sharing man! :)
  13. Photos of Blue Rock 71 are rare and these are excellent!!!...Thank you for yet another look at this great corps! Did you happen to capture Anaheim this same year??
  14. I searched "Tom Float's Drummers" on facebook to no avail. What is the exact name of the group?
  15. WOW!!! Thats the first time I have seen 73 Vanguard! Amazing! No need to apologize for the film not being in sync with the music! I am sure all know that you guys were "Right-on"!...Otherwise you wouldnt have won!...What a coool show for that era!...I remember seeing that show in San Diego in July of 73 and just sitting there in AWE during Young Persons Guide!...I had never seen the doubletime and halftime marching to such a complicated peice before and I was FLOORED!...Lo and behold that type of marching caught on the next year in 74...I think at least 6 corps were doing it!...Vanguard were trend setters for sure!....I am not sure but weren't Vanguard the first to introduce the 3 stroke roll?...meaning RRR LLL RRR LLL? They used that in Young persons Guide drum solo. That came back in 74 with nearly every tops 12 corps using that roll!
  16. So theres a "NEW" dvd of 1973???? I had not heard of this but am anticipating it to the MAX! As a Kingsmen I know that 1973 was the year where there were little photos and almost NO film of that year aside from a snippet or 2 here and there! Speaking for the Kingsmen we would love nothing more than to see a full show of the 73 corps! I truly hope this exists!!!! There is also no film of 76/77/78 of the Kingsmen and even though we did not place in the top 12 those years we would LOVE to see "ANYTHING" from those years!....man...one day this stuff will surface!!! I have faith!!! :):)
  17. I think "Young persons guide" wasn't played until 73
  18. Yes!...Looks like they are doing a kneeling type thing with their flags horizontal to the ground. Great video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyqpsQID_uU
  19. Wow! I never knew that. I always thought they did it in 72. Learn something new everyday!
  20. COOL....72 SCV photos are pretty rare! Was this concert?....was the bottle dance about to commence?
  21. If this is 76 then he must be there. I think thats him 2nd from the right of the double snares. Am I right Greg W.?....while I am at it are those North drums I see off to the right?...looks like double tenor Norths...not quite sure what I am looking at. :)
  22. WOW!...great new shots!.....any more Kingsmen 76 thru 78 out there?...Our alumni would be eternally grateful! :)
