The majority of the drill started with with the corps moving to the right because The Cadets step off with the right foot.
Fix't

2008 Glassmen, to me at least, seemed to be a real crowd pleaser. It was entertaining. The hornline swells at the start of the closer were, for lack of a better term, yum.

For all those with requests, you have to supply a picture to the creator.

Mellophones in a Trumpet Band?
You haven't heard? All brass are trumpets. You have your trumpet grandes, your baritone trumpets, and your bass trumpets.
-
What about Star '91?
Give him a second. He'll get there eventually.
Mellophone Super-Duper-Section Leader and Soloist of the Pigsknuckle High School Knuckles Marching SuperBandFunny, I was the Mellophone Super-Duper-Section Leader of the Pigsknuckle High School Knuckles Marching SuperBand '94. Furthermore, I was Awesomely-Amazing Mellophonist Section Leader of the Blue Devils Super-Duper Trumpet Band.

22. Capital Regiment- Can CR convince enough kids that they are a different/ better organization this time around. If they make the field.
Did anyone else catch this? Capital Regiment was sanctioned for Open Class.

So who do I see about getting the last 8:08 of my life back?
That was 8 minutes of the design staff vamping on how they didn't know what the show was about.
Nice drum beats at the end though. Love Promise of Living.
So did you not catch the fact that they were poking fun at how seriously people seem to take the while pre-season? 'Cause if you really think they were vamping on not knowing what the show was about . . . well, I guess you took it a little too seriously. -
Cadets will score a 99.2, making for the highest scoring world class corps ever. Second place won't come close.
That I believe.

Flugels normally have the part of the horn that goes to the bell down pretty far. That didn't look like a flugelhorn to me.
The bell did look quite open and deep and the player's grip of the horn did not remind me of a trumpet grip.

not to be an asparagus, but isn't Surf a 'D-I' corps this summer???
I believe they are still going to have a "weekend" only-like schedule. They might be on tour a little more than usual, but nothing like many of the other world class corps.

My memory is more visual, being a techy type. You can memorize the Euph part in like five minutes. I also like it, in that you parallel the Contra voice most of the time so you can really HONK on those roots and fifths. With 3rds and 7ths (2nd Bari / Lead), you can't really go nuclear. At least not without being called out by the instructional staff.
True you can blast all you want. But do you really want to? Mellos can go nuclear and the staff just asks why the rest of the line isn't cutting like that guy (me).

Everyone falls to the mello.

If I had $250 to spare, I'd take one. Anyone else who has the money, this seems like a great offer.

I believe that the placements were correct.
And many corps use a "standard" mouthpiece for each section. I know that SCV and Bluecoats both use Hammond Design pieces, which are fantastic.
Phantom uses Hammond as well on mellophones (found on either the Hammond website or the Mellocast interview, can't remember which).

Candide * Toccata and Fugue in D minor * Barber of Seville * Ninth Symphony (Ode to Joy) * Mid Summer Night’s Dream #9 * Suite Bergamasque (Claire De Lune) * One Hand One Heart (from West Side Story) * Somewhere (from West Side Story) * Hungarian Rhapsody * Festive Overture * 1812 Overture * Appalachian Spring * Hallelujah Chorus
Thank you Corpreps.com, for keeping this handy list all in one place for easy reference.

I would think so. He's got a little smirk on his face, and the guy two down can hardly keep himself from laughing.
Point taken.

Um, no? WTF?
They're probably taking one or two from guard, one or two from the percussion (does one less snare and one less rack player in the pit really make a difference?)...nothing too drastic. Not like 1986 when they drastically sacrificed the guard for 84 horns.
I would say they would be taking from the guard alone. They are looking for a drum set player.
-
I'm a horn player and even I want to beat some technique into him...
-
80 piece hornline? I'm going to like this.
-
If they're in the same key, then so long as they play the same note, it will be the same sound. (A C on a Bb instrument will sound like a C on another Bb instrument)
-
oh props to who ever is doing audio for the news channels. very well balanced for marching groups on tv
Except for Channel 11 here in the NY-Northern NJ area. When Cadets came on, the audio was alright and was getting better as the piece progressed but then they talked over the Cadets about a mistake they made about a marching band a few minutes back.

not parade related, but why does the supreme justice ask so help you god? didnt george washington say it voluntarily and unexpectedly? then people repeated it because washington did it?
Correct. To the response a few pages back about what the Cadets were playing, they were playing a medley of mainstream patriotic songs such as Yankee Doodle, America, etc.
