  1. Ultimate wall of Sound!!!! YEA!!! I marched lead Soprano for Star during the Porgy and Bess years and our horn line definitely had a great sound--top to bottom. I remember paying the price for that wall of sound...running across the field at over 180 beats a minute, blaring out high "E's" and "G's" in one breath....Sometimes I felt as if my face was going to explode!!!! In '88 I had to tip my hat to SCV with Phantom of the Opera....
  2. ContraRich77--I noticed on your signature that you have SCV '88 listed. That was the most awesome show that I have ever seen performed by a Drum Corps. '88 was the year that SCV should have won DCI Championship. Wow! What a show. I marched Star that year and everytime we saw SCV at a show I always made a point to watch. Great memories!
  3. Hey Crazy marcher----Great writing! I really enjoyed reading what you had to say and it sure brought back a lot of memories sleeping on cold gym floors and under bus seats. I hope you continue to enjoy your Drum Corps years. I really didn't know a whole lot about Drum Corps until I was 19 and only had the chance to march one year. I was asked by Star to march lead Soprano my age out year (1989), but unfortunately, I couldn't afford to leave college and work life to join for another year. Of course, I have regreted it every since, because Stars show in 1989, British Invasion, was awesome. Have fun and enjoy every minute that you can...and make sure you take plenty of pictures, because when you are 38 as I am you'll wish you had more of them to look back on. Take care, Matthew
  4. I want to say hi to everyone in the DCP Community. What a great forum! I have just been looking around for about 2 days and have really enjoyed all of the intellegent conversations that I have seen. I marched lead Soprano with Star of Indiana during the 1988 season. I had the honor to sit second chair to who I believe was one of the best Soprano players in Drum Corps...Barry Hudson. Anyway, I am glad I finally found a great forum to talk on and hopefully I can share some great moments with others on here. Thanks, Matthew
