  1. "Shenendehowa High School's "Psycho" show also made a big impression on us."

OH MY.... you are talking OLD SCHOOL Shenendhoah!! Only true Shen fans remember that show.... it gave me nightmares for about 4 years after I saw it in Dayton. One of my all time spooktacular favorites.

For me, it was as memorable as the old Lassiter.

And almost as memorable as the old Norwalk.

  2. See, I tend to disagree with the blanket promotions and the idea to promote everyone out of A class. I feel the same way about prematurely pushing guards into the World Class.... it's too difficult a jump in expectations. Just my opinion, so don't flame....

Too often, there are finalists in the A class that are one-hit wonders. They happen to have a good year by a stroke of a well written show or a strong senior class.... and then never make it back it in. There was no history of making finals before..... and they are rarely heard from again. I think the review committee needs to take a careful look at who gets promoted, and that a strategic and thoughtful plan needs to be in effect.

The World Class scares me even more when it comes to who to promote. Talk about an ever-changing class! It has constant turn over. What it takes to keep up a world class program.... I can't imagine. Particularly in the Scholastic Division , where one large graduating class can nearly crush your ability to compete, and you find yourself forced down into Open Class in a year or two. Follow the history and you'll see.

NOW -if there are guards who are clearly ready for the move, as indicated by score and a review... you gotta GO. And if you're a guard who finds yourself in the top 5 every year.... you gotta GO. But I think there's a middle ground.

  3. Shen was okay. It wasn't exactly the cleanest, I saw some nerves on faces when they went on. The crowd liked it. They performed very big and openly

but that also could be their downfall as they didn't exhibit a whole lot of control of the body.

WHAT?! NO IDEA WHAT YOU WERE WATCHING. PHENOMINAL.... BEAUTIFUL. My favories were Shen, avon and I really thought chesire and carmel were fun as heck. Shen.... stunning. Avon... sick. chesire and carmel....pure entertainment! Great class.

  4. I'll take some of that money :) because once again CHESHIRE will be the suprise and Shenendehowa will drop a couple of notches. Only time will tell now.

WHAT? WHat's up with saying Chesire will "be the surprise?" They are ranked like FOURTH or something..... what will be the big "surpise" there? THey will go from fourth to, ...say, ....fourth?

And Shen is only ranked like 9th.... so they will go from say, ....9th to .....9th?

Not sure what you mean by "the big surprise." Sounds like you are predicting they stay the exact same to me. No surprises there. Sounds like the same old boring prediction that is called "the ranking."

Anyone else bored of this conversation? I'm envisioning a bunch of us couch potatoes all posting on these boards our predictions while the kids are some where in a gym laughing at us. Anyone else? Sorry - just over here chuckling at myself. Looking forward to watching all the groups, in ALL classes, regrdless if placement which is going to be more determined by panel than anythibng else. White flag a-waving over here...... I'm out.

See you all out there. Travel safe. Sorry I'll be missing a lot of the one of classes due to commitments but looking forward to watching the rest of you.

  5. You guys are all completely crazy with your orders and spreads... but you sure do make for something fun to read. (prfctTimeOfDay) Now that Centerville WAS beat by a 10 point spread, can we put this one to bed? And now that Avon stayed way ahead of CG, can we put that one to bed too? And since M-Burg and CG were so close, can we agree that they are both simply so fabulous that it's almost impossible to discern who is the "better" guard? And lastly, can we put an end to dissing the potential of east coast guards whose numbers still stand above some of the IN OH guards (you go chesire, etc)? Yes, yes.... lots left to the season and much can happen but careful - your overly passionate predictions aren't exactly always coming to fruition. Don't go jinxing your favorites....

(All said in fun.. I really did get a chuckle out of all of it)

  6. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that with all the hype and predictions, the slots for medal spots are pretty much within reach of anyone this year? Personally, I would like to see some underdogs win those coveted medals.

Well, gonna be tough to knock out avon and flanagan if the numbers are a good indicator but the bronze sure will be a battle, huh? Darn good year for the world class. i just may finally buy a video.

  7. Pretty good list. . .I say the NE guards will get passed by quite a few of the Mid-West guards come April. I think the Mid-West Power regional will be a good indicator.

Interesting. Why do you say that? Have you seen the NE guards?? Let's face it.... t's really only Shen and CHesire in the running here (versus a million mid west and southern world guards). Shen looks like they have a LOT of growth potential. if you haven't seen their show, don't count them out. As for Chesire - they may just be too strong for others to catch, even if they ARE done.

    Just my 2cents

  8. Call me the tie breaker if you will BUT.....

Avon - totally innovative, new things, and FRESH to the world class. ABSOLUTELY.

Shen - It was only their FIRST YEAR in the world class. Yes, sometimes they go with a more lyrical piece and spin spin spin... the "formula" as you call it. Why not - they are elegant, talented, classy and that alone makes them "different" in my opinion. BUT even if you disagree that their style is unique.... how can you foget about their WAY out the box shows like Psycho, Origami, and even last year's show with the stage? If you didn't find that innovative - you simply "missed it." It was a build from start to finish through music, staging and equipment. Even I got THAT! And the most OUT THE BOX SHOW ever was that mannequin show from like 3 years ago. What the heck.... 30 foot mannequins flying around the tarp looked like two shows going on from up top. Totally nuts... but they didn't make the final so maybe you missed that show. ??

Whatever. WHether you're Logan, Shen or Flanagan, I don't envy how scrutinized you are once you get to the world class. Can't wait to see you all.
