I've been begging, 4 months to go....
Begging.....
-
dont get me wrong, I love scv and their brass line is phenomenal and in tune, but it would take an incredible off night to beat the blue devils technical superiority...
-
Oh My!!!!! Nice to see the scores leveling off
-
winged victory changed my life....
-
a couple more pics
-
so what'd the dude do when everyone else was sitting? just squat?
The funny Part was the gal on the guard pretending to climb up and down the non existant chair... let me see if i can find a pic....
I wonder how much that affected their score last night
2nd chair back, 2nd chair from the right
Here's the judge standing where the chair should have been
-
The Blue Devils were absolutely amazing last night.... Incredibly clean, More melodic than previous shows... Guard was flawless.... but there was a chair missing which was a little awkward... did anyone else cacth it...
-
So my fiance is beast... during just the open class shows, she took more than 200 pics last night....
-
watched crown (via fan network).... watched blue devils 3 times now....
West coast inflation AT THE TOP is non existent...
Mandarins... should be scoring higher... great show... I would love to see them pass academy.
Bloooooooooo.... was good, but still not the full show I think..... and it just felt anti climactic... I thought their drums were hot.
My fairytail corps is Gold.... Watched them rehearse in sections for about an hour tonight... They looked realy good. and confidant... more in the morning
-
Well, I'm going to try and get there around 5ish...I have some friends in the corps that are going to text me when they get to the lot...but normally 6 would be a good time to catch some Open Class in the lot, and possibly PC or Academy will get there soon after depending on step off times.
Do you have friend/family marching in any of the corps? Or just going to see the show?!
Just Going to watch....

bump, I thought I might get a little more traffic now that season is in swing.
I could really use any help.... even just someone to sit down with me and give me tips...
-
SCV was hot last night!!!! I was full of chills and close to tears...
Academy might be a suprise...... very musical
In the open class... Only Gold was good so far

I have a few dynasty wedge snares that are really lite, but I'm looking for some other lite gear.
Can anyone speak to the quality of the Yamaha Lite series basses and tenors? I don't intend on cranking them, so lug casings SHOULDN'T be an issue. Any info would be appreciated.
The powerlite basses are okay, weak rims
The toms are decent as well

sorry no pics yet, I cant get one that accurately shows the acoustic challenge. I've been experimenting quite a bit. All the players are using hard mallets now. I am still using the sm 57's about 6 inches under the bars. Is that a good placement, or should I go up top?
How many watts should I aim for? How many speakers and what should thier placement be? here is a rough diagram
m=marimba, x=xylophone, v=vibes, t=timps,s=snare, b=bass, c=cymbal, tm=toms

amc mission valley--- lots of allum

I will try to post some pictures of the space as well as list the specs of our equipment. As far as mallets we are using the IP240's from innovative percussion. Yeah, I agree, I am doing my best to pull that pit sound up....
-
Thanks everyone for your input. We have been doing a ton of indoor stuff, carpeted floors, high ceilings... Not a giant space.
No matter how low I bring the battery down, they are still drowning out the pit.
My question is this, what should I do about amplification..... We recently played a gig in a very large space, where the sound tech opted for condensors, and they worked great.... Dont think that would work in our space though.
BLAH>>> I am pulling my hair out every rehearsal.

Cavaliers '89, '90, '91
Colts '96
And that's only the Div 1 finalists who've done Rutter. Check out corpsreps.com for more.
Sweet links, there has been a ton of Rutter used, but nothing much lately :(
I would really like to see someone use Paul Lovatt-Cooper's music, who is composer in residence for Black Dyke Mills..
Either Vitae Aeternum or ESPECIALLY the opening lick from Where Eagles Sing..... Both some serious face peeling potential
-
Has any corps ever incorporated any Rutter into a show? I would really like to see someone do Gaelic Blessing, it sounds amazing in brass.
