  1. This is what I saw on another thread but don't hold me to it. Anyone know if this legit?

The 5 members judging panel will consist of:

    Music Effect (20 Points)

    Visual Effect (20 Points)

    Music Ensemble (20 Points)

    Visual Ensemble (20 Points)

    Percussion 2 (20 Points)

I believe that is the way it will be: no field judges, all in the press box.

So, basically, they eliminated the visual performance, color guard, and brass judge, and moved the main percussion judge to the secondary spot (upstairs).

  2. Don't forget about the CLASS Championships being held at L.T. Smith Stadium at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY on July 28th hosted by the Nastalgia Music Project. Always a blast to play and the after parties are great too, with the added bonus of the CLASS organization's annual banquet.

*CLASS members - if you could pm me the foods that you are bringing to the banquet so I can post a menu so everyone knows what fine cusine they are going to be eating, that would be fantastic.

Both corps in the Glory of Music Foundation will be there.

  3. If you want to know which corps are going to which shows, all you have to do is head over to the DCP-I site, and look for the event calendar. All of the information will be posted there (eventually). I am still in the process of creating all of the shows, so give it a day or 2.... then once I start getting more Tour schedules in, I will update the show lineup.

Hoping this will make things run even better, and look more professional as well

Awesome! I was just thinking about this concept earlier.

  4. I'm sure most of you already have your DCPI Season X show designs already figured out, but if not: have no fear!

I have an extremely large classical CD collection (roughly 500+) and a pretty expansive knowledge of late 19th and 20th Century classical music. I have created over two dozen shows that I have released for public use and several more "private" custom-use shows. I am available to create a fantasy show concept for you (free of charge). PM me for details.

Here's some examples of my concepts. All of these show concepts can be used by anyone at any time.

    PARADISE FOUND

    1. Music from Scott Boerma's "Bora Bora Suite"
      I. Otemanu (Tombstone Mountain)
      II. Moana (Lagoon)
      III. Nuna’a (The People)

    Program Description:

Before there were mega-resorts and eco-tourism, Polynesian empires both compact and vast reigned across the Pacific Ocean. Amidst the turqoise lagoons and languid palm trees for which the region has become so famous in today's world, the Tahitian isle of Bora Bora was inhabited by the Maohi. Oral history recounts the adventures of gods and warriors in colorful legends where javelin throwing was the sport of the gods, surfing was restricted to royalty, and the most powerful warriors competed in canoe races and stone lifting as a show of pure strength.

Join us on a trip to the South Pacific of the 18th Century.

  6. Introducing, from Newport Coast, CA...

    GLORY OF POLARIS

    DCPI Division I

    Season X Program:

    dichotomy.jpg

    DICHOTOMY: GOOD VS. EVIL

    1. I. Hagen’s Call to His Clan
      from “Gotterdammerung” by Richard Wagner
      II. Sinbad Battles Kali
from “The Golden Voyage of Sinbad” by Miklos Rosza
      III. Gnossienne No. 4
      by Erik Satie
IV. Thalaba’s Fatal Languor / Ecstasy of Faith and Love
from “Thalaba the Destroyer” by Granville Bantock

    Program Description:

The Heroes: those strapping figures of history and mythology raising arms against injustice and in protection of the innocents and the helpless.

The Villains: the dark, shadowy, ominous beings of advanced intelligence, their plots and machinations causing wide-spread death and destruction all in the name of personal gain (or, alternately, for no reason whatsoever).

Or so we are led to believe.

Are all heroes wholly good? Are all villains pure evil? How many heroes have sacrificed everything (love, family, money and health) in the pursuit of a noble cause? How many heroes have crossed the line in their overzealous quests for justice and vengeance and become villains themselves? How many villains have performed evil deeds for noble motives?

One society's heroes are another society's villains. And what use would there be for heroes without villains for them to oppose? Conjoined, intertwined, indivisible, two sides of the same coin, the ultimate dichotomy: good versus evil.
