    I think this could be a great show. On a side note, there was something mentioned in the article about use of last year's uniforms? I know some traditionalists will want to crucify me for saying this but I would LOVE to see those uniforms used again. Not sure how they could make it fit the theme but if they could, I think it's an awesome visual effect.

    It could work...if they dyed the white uniforms dark green. :devil:

    A Sound professional's take

    A huge difference between drum corps and other musical genres that use amplification is that within stage shows (rock, country, etc...) all instruments and all voices are amplified running through a sound board; and therefore the sound coming from the speaker stacks is tremendously louder than the actual acoustic sound produced on stage. This means that the audience will listen exclusively to the sound from the speaker stacks and not hear any of the acoustic sound from the stage.

    That's a good point. Considering that, I think the only sensible solution here would be to mic the brass as well.

    I love, love, love the changes. I don't know if they will help them competitively, but I love them.

    I will say, though, that the transition into Elsa's still feels awkward to me. The solo is nice (especially since I'm pretty sure that's the Romeo character playing it), it just feels a little abrupt after the previous tune.

    Or, just maybe, there were inconsistent performances AND the Top 4 really do separate themselves from the 5-8 this season.

    Inconsistent performances had a role, no doubt, but I have a hard time believing that they would account for everything.

    By the way, I'm not complaining about the difference in scores; I think ideally, especially this early in the season, different judges will have different opinions, and should give different scores accordingly.

    Anyone notice Phantom won guard and SCV won drums Sunday night? After placing 5th the night before? Interesting indeed!! Cavies went from 6th in music ensemble Saturday to 1st Sunday. Cadets GE Vis/Mus/Tot was 5/4/4 Saturday but 3/1/2 Sunday. BD GEVis went from 1 to 4. Crown Vis Perf/Ens/Guard went from 1/2/2 to 4/4/6. Bluecoats percussion went from 1 to 7.

    Oy!

    Geez what the hell is up with these scores? It's gonna be a hell of a season if they keep it like this hahahahahahaha!!

    No kidding! I knew slotting happens to some degree, even if it's on a subconscious level, but I never would have guessed that preventing the judges from seeing each other's scores would result in variations this large. I mean, sure, it's early, so the corps are probably inconsistent right now, but I have to believe that many of the differences between the two nights come from different judges reading things completely differently, without knowing who the best corps supposedly are this year, and being unable to give them the benefit of the doubt.
