  1. Thanks for making that really easy for me. I never said anything in my original argument that warrented that. U attacked me. Not the other way around. But thanks for being childish in a post defending that you are not childish.
  2. thank you so much for an pleasant and intelligent response. And for also not getting panties in a wad like some. as for the some. how is that for welcoming. If you wanna discuss intelligently fine. if you want to start of with me with that sort of un welcoming statement you will get it right back. Also ganging up good ole boy style by not looking at your own unwelcoming tones will get u nowhere with me. I respect the hell out of someone who can take a good argument for what its worth and leave childish comments and hurt feelings out of it.
  3. Calm down francis. I never said I dislike group 5 nor was I even flaming his post, but if you read the quote below you will see the doubt people have in crown and people still thinking crowns brass hasnt touched the likes of the top 3. This is despite liking them. Sorry you cant handle stats or someone arguing a point. Im pretty sure if you can read, you can see that I love the corps im comparing crown to. Yes I am an alumni and a fan of Crown, so yes I am going to be rah rah crown and if you are sick of me then you are gonna be sick a lot. I dont think I in anyway went overboard. You will get the same type of fan support from other crown supporters in this time of growth. Get used to it.
  4. Yes and I just dont understand group fives logic this year. Crown's Brass score of 17.3 is the same score as the Denver High brass score of lets see, YES 17.3. We will have to see where the scores go by years end but as of now Crown HAS cracked the ranks of corps that have traditionaly outscored them. Trust me, i know they were two different shows and that may or may not matter. It really cant be said or measured how much that mattered. I respect group fives right to that opinion but dont understand it. It just seems like sour grapes to me.
  5. I dont get where people think that crowns design and difficulty are sub par compared to the traditional powers. Apparently people arent listening to the entire show and are just focusing on how irritated they are at crowns ability to produce louder and more balanced sustained chords than anyone else. If this is you, then you are totally missing the wonderfully difficult runs and dynamics the hornline produces while performing very difficult drill. Admit it. It probably irritates the hell out of some fans of phantom, bd, cades, and cavies that Carolina Crown has come from the hornline being their eternal weakness, to now producing what I would call the best sound in DCI this year. I understand it is difficult to break into the top 3. Trust me everyone understands that. Yes, it is partially due to better desing and talent by the traditional top 3, but it also has a good bit to do with politics and past success helping. Crown most definately has the talent near par or on par with the traditional top 3 and definately has the show design. Im sorry if people only want to consider blue devil jazzy style, cavies amazing drill with a side order of hornline, or phantoms classics as ample design. I love all of them! I just cant sit here and listen to this mess that crown isnt on the same league. Its garbage. They wont go away and as one poster stated, they have proven that by steadily improving each year. Crown isnt going away. THANK GOD
  6. Tell that to Blue Devils. If you havent seen Crowns show you just woudlnt understand. I dont know how, but somehow they managed to make this show flow VERY well and there are Dynamics O Plenty. Crown is the king of contrast the last few years. The judges like them as well. FINALY. Go Crown! Take NO PRISONERS!
  7. Was waiting on membership approval to the site which is why I am late. Glad to be accepted. Spokane Thunder For such a small hornline, Thunder opened with a nice surprisingly full balanced sound. There were spots throughout the show where you could hear feet big time, but its hard to cover up with limited size. Both the brass and percussion book were pretty simple but executed fairly well. There were some intonation problems durring the balad that were un-characteristic throughout the rest of the show. The gaurd also for its size made great use of space. I did notice some sloppy horn movements. I felt that the hornline ran out of gas for the final push but the crowd was very appreciative and applauded. Velvet Knights Interesting opening furneral procession. One member shoots another and they carry him to the front with a humorous and obviously intentional out of tune march where they lay him to rest with a cerimony. They then break down into when the saints go marching to get the crowd going for the actual show. The drum majors' salute is just something you would have to see. It was awesome by the way. The drill with this show was really simple and honestly still not marched that well. The hornline was a little louder than Thunder but had a very unbalanced quality. They played THRILLER! The gaurd was dressed as gouls and or zombies which played well with this tune. Over all it seemed rather highschool-ish in design but if performed alot better could be really good. I was definately entertained. Troopers Beautifull opening statement. The front ensemble really accents this group as they play music themed around an Iron Horse (railroad) idea. I thought that the low brass was the highlight of the hornline with a nice lush sound. They used a driving spikes with a hammer movement VERY effectively throughout the show and looked visualy fairly clean. They had great crowd response several times throughout the show. One thing I would change is how many times they use the generated train whistle audio as opposed to they hornline matching that same chord. Blue Knights The high brass had some intonation issues tonight but over all the brass was well balanced with an erie tinge to the sound. I have come to expect that from the Blue Knights. There was a lengthy percussion feature that although performed well probably sort of detracts from the flow. I believe i counted 14 tubas! The visual performance was a little off with one gaurd member standing out with several exposed drops of equipment, spacing issues in the hornline, and early step-offs. I applaud them for standing their ground and creating unique shows, but the crowd just wasnt into it. Phantom Regiment Phantom HIT IT and I thought that they would surely beat BD based on performance. Then I remembered that BD has all those championships crammed into the minds of the judges. Hornline was fantastic ofcourse. Spartacus turns out to be a great theme that is supported well by the gaurd and all sections really. I think as far as step offs and horn movements the show is pretty clean. There are however spacing issues that are to be expected at this point. They could clean and get this show as high as 3-4 in my opinion. Blue Devils Marching is really pretty clean at this point. The hornline is as always powerfull but not as powerfull as phantom's. I say this because I got sick of hearing the out of tune trumpets screaming the whole show. I also felt that there was simply too much high volume to the point where I became de-sensitized to what was probably pretty loud but could no longer feel it. Probably had a lot to do with the bad intonation in high voices. I would have given 2nd to the hornline and 2nd to the corps over all. Santa Clara Vanguard Some great visual moments but a good bit of dirt left to clean with this group. It was also nice to hear a hornline with contrasts throughout the show. I feel like this years show design however is down from those in recent memory. It just didnt seem like I was watchin SCV. I think the visual dirt is really bringing them down, not only in score but in morale. If they are able to tighten up the visuals, and there are many good ones, they could hit around 4-5 come finals. There was a bit of hushed astonishment by the crowd that Phantom did not win. I definately felt they deserved to.
