If you have periscope, it’s there @MommaDCI

Well ####!!!!!! It’s early season, but I can certainly hear echoes of some of the Regiment sound coming through!!!! This show already seems to be coming together (on the stage, at least) better than last years production....

  2. I couldn’t help but notice that Andy Grindle, the Brass Caption Head in 2018, completely erased any trace of his Pioneer connection from his LinkedIn profile. In a way, I feel for the guy, and the few staff who really wanted 2018 to be different than all the other typical Pioneer seasons. I wish him the best. He seems like he really was sincere and wanted it to be different.

I remember wayyyyyyy back in the day a corps stealing a corps uniform and stuffing and burning it. kinda like the BAC show last year ( the burning not the uniform ). BUT with that said, do we know it was stolen? Do we know it wasn't just made? It is the internet and a lot of truth can be subjectable.

This sorta indicates that they stole it and were proud of it.

  4. When did this become something “every corps does”?

There a post over on reddit showing a member of one corps with an item that clearly belonged to another corps, and some people are actually defending it as a common occurrence!!!! When I marched, albeit 20 years ago, if anyone in the corps flat out stole things from members of another corps, that was dismissal and the nearest bus stop home. I can’t imagine that this has become acceptable.

    I heard the following ...

The Corps director refused the members medical access
Bad treatment of members by staff
A few circumstances where the kids didn't eat for 12+ hours
Members were threatened that making reports will result in being cut and sent home

Looking at MM comments, the kids pretty much have to buy one of their meals a day at some restaurant while on tour. I may be mistaken, but I read something to that effect on reddit. Holy hell, that adds up money wise! We had more food than we could eat at Regiment when I marched. If you bought something at McDonald’s, etc, it was just because you wanted to, not because there wasn’t going to be a meal provided.

I think we have quite a few folks on here that are taking the designer criticisms a little too seriously. Nobody has said a single word about the performers -- in fact most have been very complimentary about the performers.

Unfortunately, the fact remains:  this is a very poorly designed show. From music to guard, from props to electronics, it is poorly designed.

Now again, it's a hard pill to swallow that our beloved Phantom Regiment has fallen into 12th place (respectively), but it is quite obvious from the design aspect.

If Phantom's Board were smart, next season would be either a) a lot of new designer faces; or b) a lot of "seasoned" designers assisting these younger designers.  The most crucial of them being Will Pitts, goodness that music book just isn't up to par -- my best friend said it best the other day -- he said, "You know when you buy the generic cereal in the big bags? And it tastes almost like the real stuff... but isn't quite the real stuff? That's Will Pitts' writing"   :8_laughing:

Not quite the "real" Phantom, but by-gosh they're trying to be. LOL.

(and I'll say it again... those PERFORMERS are killing it... nothing but positive vibes to them!)

Agreed, but Jim Wren wasn’t the great Jim Wren when he first started writing either. Will Pitts will mature as an arranger and do a hell of a job at Regiment.

    I hope....

Deservingly so this thread is taking on a life of it's own. However if nothing substantial occurs what's the sense. How can one experience change if everything stays the same as it's always been. Change does not occur from lip service, powerless policy documents or useless forums that have no intention of taking their head out of the sand. What has this forum done for the MMs and their parents if bad actors just keep doing what they been doing unabated?

That is what is worrying to me....for all the talk that we’re doing, will anything really happen? Has anyone tried to wrestle the reins from Roman before, only to have him win out in the end and continue to do the status quo at Pioneer?

Btw, has anyone heard how the MMs are holding up? Threads on Reddit have either been locked or not updated in a few days.

  8. As a parent, if I had to pay $2900 tuition fees for my kid to march at Pioneer (even though it’s the “lowest fees in world class”) just to find out they were being treated like garbage, I would be livid. Hell, I’m angry already about how these kids, who just wanted an opportunity to march corps, are being treated, and I don’t know any of them.

If same corps which apparently it is... had problem years back following their procedures donating to member dues. Twice did not receive verification that the corps got the money. Since website said "the corps" will respond I emailed to check.  Response was to blame the member and....... sent me the members PERSONAL email in case I wanted to discuss it further. Part of my job is data and personal security and was floored about the email. Get the feeling they don't handle details well or just don't think certain things are important.

....and with this latest incident of many, it’s time for the corps director to just go away and let someone else take over. The members are suffering because he refuses to let go of any control at all.

They had to Uber to a clinic because they were deemed non-emergency.

I’m trying to wrap my head around that.

So, I wonder if DCI is going to step in and do something about this “world class” corps. They seem to be turning into the next Magic of Orlando. I felt so bad for those guys in ‘97. They were the worst cared for corps...hands down. Regiment ended up feeding them at every show we had with them, it seems, because they had no food
