  1. Anyway, the 2009 version of the Glassmen will be a great corps, as they have been for quite awhile. They'll be just fine. If anyone cares to really find out about the the corps, move ins start this weekend. Head over to glassmen.org and feel free to sign up for a volunteer position on the website and hang out with the corps and the members and find out for yourself, and help the activity in the process. Or is it just easier to whine on DCP then better a corps?

Also, to further the haunting stories...

There's a room above the stairs to the boys sleeping area where the dm used to sleep. One night, the drum major left there screaming and ever since nobody sleeps in that room anymore. It's been vacant for years.

  2. What bugs you?

let's not beat the dead mic'd horse again...

but what are some things in shows that just bug you?

Personally, I'm watching one of my favorite shows... 1998 Glassmen and at the 4:57 mark there's a very very audible "SPLOOIE!"

bad bad bad. makes me cringe. I wish corps would wait until other corps are done performing before they bring attention to themselves. Very disrespectful imho.

    What about you?

  3. My experiences with the corps have been great in terms of food. We always got fed, never skipped a meal, and always had enough to go around. Bryan Owens is excellent. It's always a good time when he's on tour. Everyone else does a wonderful job as well.

I clicked on this post just knowing it was going to be g-men related, and i was right. lol.

  4. I as well agree what this poster has told you. I also agree if you dont make Crown not to be discouraged. Cracking a top 5 corps your first try is tough. Going to the likes of Crossmen, Glassmen, Colts ect. for a year of experience would not hurt.

Um, I want people to march but going somewhere "just for the experience" is not something that other corps look favorably upon. Vets who leave do not help the organization get better. Just saying. I dont advocate marching somewhere knowing that you're going to be leaving the next year. That's not fair to the people you're marching with. Yes a year with another corps will help you, but it does not look well... not well at all.

  5. I think some of you seem to forget that gmen were in 8th before finals week. Why does everyone bump them down instead of up? Was 2001 so long ago? I dont think so. They had a large amount of rookies this year. If anything, I think they'll be making a run at murphysboro next year.

But then again, I'm completely biased, and this is rediculously pointless.

  6. I think we should focus on how this makes DCI look as a whole. One corps immaturity reflects on the entire organization, just like one intoxicated bluecoats member reflects on their organization.

In short, being anything other than professional at retreat hurts DCI's reputation and everything it is trying to be.

  7. I just have to mention, putting on your corps uniform changes who you are. You are no longer John Smith, you are a corps **** marching member. You represent that organization. This is the same reason corps jackets arent sold at souvie booths, and why people on dcp dont say where they marched. They want to remain John Smith and not be John Smith Marching Member of **** corps. Some actions on Saturday did not reflect well on their organizations

I think corps need to remember that when in uniform they represent an organization, not only their corps but DCI as well, and for an organization that prides itself on creating mature adults some actions shown on retreat hardly represent that claim. If DCI really is Marching Music's Major League then that would make marching members professionals. I think they should act like it. By letting kids act like children it is ruining the image DCI itself is trying to create. If anything I think DCI needs to step in and set things straight. I think this is larger than just a corps to corps issue.

One quick edit, Let's not have this thread turn into a big tattle tale. That's the quickest way to get it locked. Corps bashing is not tolerated whether it be true or not.
