I was contemplating marching a open class group this upcoming year and was wondering... What are the up sides of marching a open class corps compared to a world class corps? I'm 17 and a Senior in high school and tried out for world this past year and made it [ gotta love Spirit <( ] but I don't think I wanna go back there... Nothing wrong with the organization of course loved the staff and loved the people. I was going to open class in the first place before my band director stopped me because in his words " Open Class corps aren't really good" and that's when I wanted to punch him in the face... but anyways.... If anyone can help me out that would be great

I understand that there is a "special meaning" that the song has to a Corps. To be honest I wanted know to the origins to the songs Mobrien provided me the info I was looking for that it started as a song in their show and has grown from there into something that means the world to a rookie in the 2009 season to an Alumni from 1952

I was reading another thread about all the different Corps songs and was wondering... What are the stories of why these songs are so special to each Corps? I understand that the songs have been played for numerous years but HOW did they become the Corps songs?

Hey I was wondering I am probably going to fill a hole soon and I was wondering what is the best way to get to where I am going since I have to carry my luggage for all of tour? By plane or by bus? I am in Alabama going to Texas

I recently marched with Spirit during All-days until I injured my knee.... I was watching tv with my brother while he was building LEGOs and I decided I could make a LEGO Delta which I did which got me thinking if anyone else has ever made something or drawn an awesome picture representing their Corps. Oh I'm going to try out for Spirit next year I just want to do Open class for one year to kinda take baby steps

I think I will do both if I can convince my parents but I don't understand why he says I shouldn't do anything other than Spirit

Thats the reason I'm so confused I originally considered Memphis but then I heard about Magic they are about equal distance but my directors aren't very helpful saying Magic would be "the worst decision of my life" as he put it but I'm not so sure. It's a toss up I have both of their audition packets so I'm gonna keep looking on this topic to see what people say then make my decision

Yea it is now a toss up between Memphis Sound and Magic of Mobile I might try out for both but my parents say I should just pick one so I'm going to try and persuade them to let me try both but I'm gonna practice for them both and slowly make my decision of which one to choose ...the life of a high school student...

I would try Teal Sound but its way too far I'm in the center of Alabama but I wish I was closer the only corps that are close enough are Spirit, Memphis Sound, and Magic of Mobile

Thanks OldBones I really want to do Spirit next year but I think I should march open class to prepare for World what do you think

Man I'm still confused I'm leaning more towards one corps but I'm still not sure of what to do my band directors wont quit telling me to march Spirit don't get me wrong I love Spirit I'm just not ready for World Class yet but I just cant figure out what to do

I'm going to call one of the guys at Magic tomarrow and I just emailed one of the guys from Memphis I'm not sure who I'm going to pick though because I can only try out for one corps but which ever one I try out for I'm sure I will have a lot of fun
