  1. Thank you for this link and everyone else for your response. I knew I wasn't going crazy but couldn't seem to find it anywhere. I will definitely be there Saturday!
  2. Title should be "Preview of Champs" not "Chaps" - sorry for any riding fans out there who were disappointed upon reading my post.
  3. Does anyone know any details about the DCA Preview of Champions show being held in Webster, NY on August 24, 2013? I heard about if from a friend but wasn't totally sure of start time, price, etc. Anyone know anything about this? Cant seem to find any other posts here about it or anything online. Maybe I dreamt it! Thanks
  4. We are looking for marching drum cases sold as a set or individually. We have four (4) 13" snares that we want cases for, and we might be interetsed in various sizes of bass drum cases. Just wondering if any has some cheap they need to get out of their way. We are located near Rochester, NY. Our main interest is in snare cases. Thanks!! Peace and Love
  5. Garfield: Thank you so much for the quick and detailed reply!! Your response is so helpful!! I look forward to trying this out in the coming weeks - great suggestions! I will let you know how it works out when I try it. Thanks so much again for your help!
  6. Does anyone have a source that they use to get personalized bass drum heads, or better yet just adhesive screen prints that we could attached to the heads we already own? We want out band logo on our drum heads and we don't have a tremendous budget to do it with - but obviously would be a great addition to our drumline's look!! Anyone with links or info please forward or post! Thanks so much
  7. I'm looking for recommendations for drum mutes - for marching snare drums in particular. The problem is - we don't want the sound 100% killed, but we have a small horn section and practice in a very small room (probably 20x 40) and the sound of the 4 snares is pretty killer. Does anyone make a drum mute that muffles but doesn't truly "mute" the drum - or does anyone have suggestions of what we could use/make to do the job of reducing the sound while indoors practicing? Also worried about playing on something that doesn't feel right... help! Thanks DCP community!
  8. haha, that's great! who'd you date? I wonder if she's back with us or still one of our vets that we need to track down to harass to join again ;) We took a few years off but we're back at it and still building! look for us around and on YouTube. Thanks again for the words of encouragement. Take care!
  9. Thank you so much! It's been a long road over the past 3 years getting the band back together full time, but we have had great support from our community. The mix of new youth and old vets side by side is one of a kind. Feel free to come over and jam with us in a beer tent after webster, hamlin or hilton next month. As always, all our best to you and the rest of the crew at St. Joes! See you guys around!! Thanks again for the encouraging words.
  10. Asking only $250 a piece for MINT CONDITION Pearl Marching Quints (5 drums; 6-8-10-12-13). They have beautiful Black Diamond Pearl finish and we are selling them because our battery does not have enough players for them and need the money. One set sold already, only two still available. Each set comes with a carrying harness. These were purchased from a DCI Corps from Tennessee which folded in 2005. They were used as field drums only and used only a handful of times. Driven up to Rochester by van - MINT CONDITION!! Great for practicing on, solo performing, or to add on to an existing drumline. YOU WILL LOVE THESE DRUMS!!! ONLY $250 EACH! Thanks for your interest. See the following link for photos! http://rochester.craigslist.org/msg/1816223697.html
  11. FOR SALE: A 1990's Ludwig Marching Snare - white. Included if you need it is a black marching harness. The drum has a REMO Flam II top Kevlar head - and the bottom is a new Aquarian Attack marching snare head. The snare guts (bottom strings) are nylon and are in mint condition. The snare is an old DCI drum corps snare that has been very well taken care of. I am the third owner but I have known the previous two and can assure you it has always been well cared for by professionals. This is a great snare for professional solo work, practice work, or even to use in a drum set for that unique sound. Please feel free to contact with questions or concerns. Thanks!! 14. I am actually considering trying to start a DCA Drum Corps in western NY. We have several good groups around here - Empire Statesmen, Rochester Crusaders, Mighty St. Joes, and smaller groups - but they are all East or South of Rochester. Or you can head 6 hours south to Reading, PA for the Bucs. I find it hard to believe that there isn't a Buffalo, NY corps. I am from Rochester but am moving to Medina, NY this summer. I would love to start a group near Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Williamsville, Lockport, etc. I'd be interested in hearinghow you really go about founding a start up. I was a start-up founder of the Hilton Generations Marching Band, a community group north west of Rochester but it is a community band - no where NEAR the caliber of a drum corps. I'd be interested in comparing notes on how to get started. Thanks! Best of luck to you on your start-up! -Josh Dimino (JoshDimino@gmail.com)
  15. I am wondering about the Mini-Corps division of the DCA championships. How do groups get involved in these small ensemble competitions? How does a corps join the DCA family - what are the requirements - and what is required to be eligible to compete in the mini-corps events? My group is still very small, but we have a very talented group and would be able and interested in sending a small mini-ensemble to the mini-corps competition of the DCA Championships. To do so, do you have to have a bigger full time corps compete in the higher divisions?? There is nothing of any help on the DCA website since it is lacking severely in content. Anyone have any inside information that could point my band in a better direction? Nervous to talk to DCA officials at this point in case I am way out of my leauge and these are stupid questions. Thanks for your help!!! Josh Dimino Assistant Director Hilton Generations Marching Band www.HiltonGenerationsBand.com Rochester, NY
