  1. So a statistician, two arguing canadians and a drum corps dinosaur walk into a bar....

Well all joking aside, I believe there needs to be a coordinated effort by members, staff, and DCI. Don't know exactly how that would work, but I'm sure it's already been mentioned so I'll stop there with that idea.

For what it's worth, has anyone SEEN/payed attention to the tremendous growth that Mystikal has experienced numbers-wise? Apparantly the biggest reason that I heard for that was that they got a crapload of people from Texas somehow. Now I can only imagine what kind of effort THAT took by staff. I know they got a new director so mabe he had connections somehow. I don't know but I sure would like to know what all contributed to going from 8 brass marching on the field competing (ill-advised in my opinion to begin with but it is what it is) to whatever that number was this year (40s I think?? I don't know).

I think there should be exhibition performances during the fall season by corps at major marching band venues in areas where there is a suspected talent/ and/or wealth base, such as in San Diego county, and not just booths, where all the bands as well as the audience would watch the various corps.

    Just a thought.

  2. Dude.. I SO want to be marching on 12/21/2012.

"All right guys, horns up to the stars and 1, 2, ready..."

Mabe with the final epic chord ringing out just as the sun and galaxy align...

    Awesome.

Dang, there needs to be an emoticon representing Epicness.

Anywhos, I think that with as many open class corps there are in So. Cal I think one or two should merge for a season and mabe come back when the economic weather is better. I'm sure that's a lot easier said than done but it's just a thought.

How have mergers been in past years? Generally smooth or Rocky? How have they done in competition?

  3. Until DCI is scored and ranked by robots and computers, these conversations will be going on forever. Then we'll hear about the personal 'flavor' that human judging adds and blah blah blah......

Now wouldn't that be an interesting concept.. Computer judging.. I know it's kind of a change of subject but most of this question and these replys seem to be relying a whole lot on all the variables of human nature.

  4. Ich weiß für mich, dass ich, solang ich mein Erlebnis in Worten zusammenfassen kann, gewiss keine Musik hierüber machen wuerde

 Ja, klar! Sind sie eine grosse müsik philof?

Feel free to correct me on my endings. I kinda forgot after not being in German class for 2 weeks

Ugh, I know! I want to know...

    -What they're playing!

-And what their uniforms will look like!

-And what they sound like with the new Quantum horns!

I know that the Euphs sound AMAZING cuz our old lead bari (who made phantom this year) came back to a rehearsal with hers and.... ####. That is a whooool lotta horn 'n sound!! I seem to recall that that one might have been a Jupiter but.. gawd my memory sucks. I'll bet it was a Jupiter. That name rings lots of bells in my head. Oh well if that's the case then, my normal response would be, 'Dang, and I thought the JUPITERS sounded good...'

  5. I think the shamwow only got mediocre reviews.. to say the least  : http://www.infomercialratings.com/product/shamwow_reviews

Is it me or are there 3 versions of 1 Aaron Copeland song listed? "Appalachian Spring" (Haaa.. my sophomore year fieldshow), "Simple Gifts", and, well this is just a guess but, "Appalachian Morning?" (correct me if I'm wrong)

I can give you a hint for Impulse... wait no I can't. I think it's already leaked somewhere though. I'm afraid some bigwig at Impulse might see this and give us pushups/laps/lunges/those things where you put your legs up, out, together, down/godknows what else :worthy:

    It's classic Impulse though.

  6. My friend Chris over at Burger King told me that our high school had a drum corps (tiiiiny open class) called "Revolutions" (Vista, CA) or something like that (not related to the one in Texas). I have yet to fully probe. I'll ask my director about it, but apparently its last year was 2003 so yeah. That was kind of weird to and kinda cool too.

:worthy::worthy: I wondeerr if I could revive it somehow...?

ooh that idea just gives me goosebumps.
