If you are at the above competitions and want more information please come by and talk to the volunteers in the booth. They will have the latest information available for the upcoming 2012 season.

good luck to you this year. when will you announce the new staff and management?

  2. > Revo wanted to tour more locally.

And they did; DCI makes sure all OC corps from a particular region are allowed to perform at shows within their own region; even if the show is WC only.

    > DCI assigns shows.

Not true for all shows; only shows sponsored by DCI. The private sponsor of a show can state that they want World Class corps only. The only exception to this is a privately sponsored show within an OC corps region (see above).

    > Revo's only opportunity was to go west.

Not true; they could have chosen to stay home for a number of weeks just like the Academy did. They could have chosen to just perform locally like many of the OC corps who did not go to Finals; it was not their "only" option.

    > DCI wanted them there [west]

Whether DCI wanted them to go west or not, Sue Kuhnhold, DCI events Coordinator, and David Eddleman, DCI Open Class Director, would never place any corps, any corps, in a position to go into the financial red if they were made aware up-front of a corps financial status.

neither of these two people control nor assign who goes out west, but Tom Hope is the DCI Pacific coordinator, and he decides who goes out west or not, in this case, he made the wrong decision, but then again those of us that have known him for years now, know he overlooks a lot, A LOT of "situations" just to make himself look good. REVO could have said no, it was NOT their only option.

  3. Wow...I see the Forums can still be a volatile place! This story is definitely a sad one, and thank goodness Chris (who I met and worked with during my time with Revo) was there to help at the end. After about page 6 or so I just began skimming, so sorry if this has already been said...but to release those in charge so close to the end of the season lacks so much sense, both business and common it is ridiculous. You mean to tell me that you could not wait one more week to take care of this behind closed doors after the kids were dismissed and everyone could sit down and figure this out like adults? As was stated earlier by John Rod - this is not the first time something negative about the corps has blown up in the forum, so how on earth did you think the same wasn't going to happen when done in this manner? Again - common sense. Having been involved in Drum Corps in some form or fashion for about 13 years, having a kid find their own way home when part of the corps, regardless of age is unacceptable in all but the most extreme of situations (i.e. something involving the law)...but maybe that's just me.

I hope you guys as a corps figure this out, and hire the right people this time - and by right I mean people with the best interests of the corps in mind, the business sense and PR acumen to make them a success - and if it's true control will be retained by those who just left - someone with the testicular fortitude to tell them to shut up when it comes to the day to day operation of the corps. The last thing this corps needs is a puppet director being controlled from behind the curtain - in my opinion.

you mean as in a certain corps out "west" where this has existed for years now? beautifully stated

  4. would be nice to see, BUT now if they can get the infrastructure for it, and not have the issues they had when going to denver, it may work. you cannot have their members supporting themselves every day for meals, that's uncalled for. a corps should be able to feed the members while on the road, and NOT just drop them off at a restaurant and say "there you go, get something to eat". you must have a food truck to tour with. totally not acceptable, at least NOT for my sister's son who traveled with them, it was insane trying to get money to him because "they were not fed".

  5. wht about when a corps, organizations, does take action against those that have violated the policies and procedures set forth by such organization, and get BASHED all over the place for doing so? for firing and not rehiring those staff members? I keep hearing "it's drum corps, it happens all the time"..........what is THAT supposed to mean?

  6. So I guess the "rumors" about the staff being fired were true...too bad.

I love it, you heard "rumors" and they are all true? have you read other posts here in this forum? how other corps are also accepting applications for staff, so that means "ooooohhhh, they fired their staff too?" oh let's see

    1. Raiders Now Accepting Educational Team Applications

    2. Forte Staff Application

why don't you get "facts" first then post? what is your "real" motive for doing this?

  7. Female Directors:

    Donna Monte (Citations)

    Vicki Schaffer (Colt Cadets)

    Mayra Iraheta (Velvet Knights)

Minority Directors (that I could confirm):

    Ray Mar (Mandarins)

    Ibe Sodawalla (Legends)

    *Steven McKeiver (Platinum)

    Johnny Rodriguez (Revolution)

    *black

Quick Note: Andre Feagin, who was the director of Memphis Sound in their championship year (2007) and is now the brass caption head at Santa Clara Vanguard, is black.

Mayra Iraheta - also a minority, i believe she is hispanic or latino

  8. Thank you.

I believe it would be just shameful to see re-emerging corps like VK, Spartans, and Spokane Thunder go back under in such a short time. And let's not get started on what this will do to the BRAND NEW drum corps that were just approved. I would love more competition in Open Class, and with this proposal, I will see the opposite.

To put it into words everyone would understand: This is a VERY bad idea.

VERY BAD indeed  has any of the oc corps director chimed in on this? how they feel about it? would be nice to hear that too

  9. again........congratulations, you are still NOT listed on the dci schedule, so go get after them to do so. I saw the shows your have listed on your site, good luck to you, exhibition/competing, either way, at walnut, riverside, corona and paramount.

what are the musical selections for this year? you never answered that either

  10. We will be competing in 4 of the Southern California shows this year.

1 show, 20 shows, is all good, but yu still fail to answer which 4 shows they are. if you complain about dci not updating the site, then just tell us which shows they are! no biggie, just a legit question, and regardless of how you may take this, GOOD LUCK TO YOU

  11. are the uniforms still available? there is a school where I live, Florida, that is need of some uniforms, and I was looking into purchasing some for them. Do you have pictures? can you pm with a price for everything? thanks Jim
