  1. Friends, Members, Newbies, Vets, and Alumni lend me your ears! As you may or may not know, we, the members of Impulse run our corps. The directors dont, the staff doesn't... WE DO.

We decide on the reputation and awesomeness of the organization that we have singed up and payed all this money to be a part of and what I believe every corps needs, as a matter of principle, is accountability.

I've been browsing Drum Corps Planet and I've reached the conclusion that if we want this corps to be extremely successful then we've got to take it into our hands to make things happen like they should.

Sure we can't dictate every little thing that goes on but we have a MASSIVE influence on how this corps operates.

Ask tough questions.. get involved. Know what's going on behind the scenes! You must ask the right questions so know what kind of things are involved with your activity and learn what kind of questions to ask! Take a stroll on www.drumcorpsplanet.com and see some of the issues corps deal with and increase your awareness of what's going on with your own as the season progresses.

Just like we need to push the staff during rehearsal, so do we need to push the staff to have their affairs in order so our organization can go far!

We also need a goal. Something to reach for, and the goals of the staff and us need to be in harmony.

We need to reach for the stars folks. Even if you're only planning on being here for one season there is no reason that you shouldn't give your all to help this organization grow. Whatever is worth being a part of, it's worth making it grow; if there's anything worth doing such as growing a corps, it's worth doing well.

    Who's with me??

this is on their facebook page

  2. That's as of right NOW. From what I know the staff of Impulse is still in the evaluation process to see if a national tour is in the cards so nothing is for sure yet. Impulse may still go to finals!

wow did not know you guys were being evaluated? but then again, i can see why/ how are your fundraising efforts going to help decrease that tremendous debt? must be hard competing out there with everyone else recruiting wise?

  3. nothing was said to put anyone else down, I thought. Seems more like "you'll be surprised that we are going to offer a top quality experience comparable to other, well established corps in the socal area."

good luck City Sound, looking forward to seeing you in the future!

i see...totally different wording, and of course making much more sense the way you put it. still has not answered the question as to if they are approved by dci yet

  4.

    Hello neighbor!

Feel free to stop by anytime. You are more than welcome to come to the Open House and see what we are all about. I promise you will be surprised with what we are offering compared to other Corps in So Cal.

Hope to see you there everyone is welcome :ninja:

and WHAT EXACTLY are you offering "compared to other Corps in So Cal"?.........what makes you better than them? pretty selfish for a corps that is not even been thru the process of getting approval from dci correct? why put everyone else down?

  5. This must be something new for the 2010 season, correct? I remember it being finals week in ast seasons...

What gives you that idea? Where did you hear this from? I know for the past several seasons, Open Class/Division II/III corps members were allowed to compete... I know for a fact because I remember watching some of my corps-mates perform in I&E.

from my understanding, it was all decided upon before the OC directors attended their Fall meetings in Las Vegas, NV.....the WC corps had already voted to ONLY have WC members participate, and ban the OC from "their" I&E....like I said before, if you email an OC director, they will tell you the same thing. I emailed one of them, and that's what I was told, as he was present when this happened

  6. I would hope anyone who believes this would ask the Open Class corps directors what they think of this, because I can't imagine it happening without their encouragement and approval.

Good point.......but I know for a fact that the OC corps directors are NOT happy about this. and yes would be nice to hear from them here, but DCI would probably get mad at them if they come out and spill all they know. Sad indeed...maybe we can individually email those directors and ask them? i think their individual websites have their email addresses correct?

  7. Sorry to hear that and a good move on your part. Does anyone know if this man plans on paying his past staff? would be nice if he plans on having any kind of staff for the future. My question is this one, WHY is this man allowed by dci to continue to treat people especially the members this way? Do not quote me, but he serves on some kind of board for them right?

Chris, wishing you and your staff much success.
