  1. Proposal

At a predetermined week before the last month of shows, allow a corps to make a one time, up to, 8 caption change. Corps would still be bound by the max Points at that time in the season.

    Rationale

Corps have been known to massively change thier show after bad critiques from the the judges in the early season. This would be reflected by a one time total makeover of captions if a corps needed it. I can see this being utilized by directors who are either new and inexperienced and not using the sophisticated corps tracking software the Knights have employed in picking captions.

After a few weeks of playing, there may be a need for a group at the bottom of the leaderboard to reboot. I do not see this being used by the corps who are already scoring at the tops of the rankings. This would give a young director a chance to get back into the game and make the season more enjoyable. I would suggest that the week be 4-5 weeks before championships. This would give the director a chance to reboot, but not impact the final weeks with corps jumping up from the bottom with a complete change in the final few weeks of a season

    Impact:

The Caption Change Window would be adjusted to allow 8 captions in one day, One change per week. This is to my knowledge, something that can be done in the current scripting.

  2. I figured there'd be others. Risky move with Cal Knights, IMO, since the top caption sets tend to go early. Best of luck!

Gary, didn't one of your corps win a Championship one season and still hadn't used all their points even at Finals?

Yes, but I saw something I wanted to exploit and will be able to make my last changes and since we can only change 3 captions, i was stuck :)

  3. It took several weeks to get things in order, But the CRASS Organization is proud to proclaim that the Catalina Crusaders are back in the top 12 ! Here is some press from our local paper.

It’s A Magical Mystery Tour for this CA Island’s Corps

It has been a long road for the Catalina Crusaders which is only fitting since their show is called "The Long and Winding Road" which features the music of the Beatles. "Things are Getting Better for the corps" said drum major Maggie Mae. "The show has undergone a Revolution all season... I think we're on No. 9 right now." The Crusaders have been Searchin’ for answers and have been accused of Too Much Monkey Business along the way. Reports of corps members Watching Rainbows, having too many Golden Slumbers instead of rehearsing , and just acting all Helter Skelter are false.

”We went through a lot of Misery early on.” Said Mr. Hensley, Crusaders Corps Director. “It wasn’t until we spent a Hard Day’s Night in Memphis, Tennessee that we just couldn’t Carry That Weight of a bad 1st tour any longer” The Night Before, the corps had one of those She Said She Said meetings in which the corps realized that We Can Work it Out and put out something that would help us Get Back to finals.

“With A Little Help of My Friends and countless phone calls to Three Cool Cats and Some Other Guy and Another Girl, we decided that All Things Must Pass and we needed to stop Crying, Waiting, and Hoping for Every Little Thing to go our way.” Said Hensley.

The Corps added a little Shot of Rhythm and Blues to the show and rehearsed like a MadMan. The Word has gotten out and It Won’t Be Long before the Catalina Crusaders are battling for a medal again. The Crusaders will finish their Season competing in Madison, WI for the Drum Corps International Championships. The Crusaders will definitely put on a show With or Without You!

  4. There corps missing from the Standford show according to the show line up.

I was thinking the same thing....

  5. and the Knights take BACK the sword in Centerville OH!

by the way Bill looks like VK and Knights of Power along with California Knights all meet up in Dallas on 7/20 and then VK, The Knights and California Knights the next night in Round Rock!

Those should be some highly contested shows...

  6. The GE Scores look very strange to me. I wonder if some DCI corps are mis-mapped in the program? Because taking the two LOWEST GE scores of the corps I have in my GE slots still gave me a score of like 31.8, and I should have been in the 33-34 range Friday and Saturday.

Yeah, I just checked. Both of Polaris Regiment's and Oregon Marauders' GE corps performed on Friday, 7/8 and combined for a GE score of 33.5 in real life. Yet my DCPI GE score for both corps on 7/8 was only 31.6

Something's wrong here. Either DCI scores were plugged in wrong or there's a mapping problem.

I had the same questions... I've been gone a few weeks and was about 2.5 points light to my calculations... Host, we must have the same captions...

  7. Others that I almost voted for:

Confederate Regiment- They've been just a hair behind the Lions most of the season.

Stud Bolts- nice scores but how will they fare head to head against other corps in their division?

California Knights/Crimson Eagle Regiment: Need to prove they can take it to Elite.

Caprice- had a strong early season start, but need to kick it up another level to get back in the hunt.

Thanks for the consideration, The California Knights have had a pretty interesting season. We had some major facility issues this spring and are a little behind. At out own home show, we had to perform the 2nd half of the show at a standstill. However, things are looking much better and we look forward to stunning the world in Las Vegas... This years mottow is... "It's not how you start, it's how you finish!"
