Knowing the Pioneer staff very well I can say that they would be thrilled to try and put something less Irish on the field. However the corps director Roman will not approve anything else. Same reason they only march girls in the guard.

Their front ensemble has the most vetrans that returned this year with 7 members. The battery is all new except for 3 bass drums. IMO their front ensemble has the experience and a demanding enough show to really keep their percussion score solid.

Pioneer is marching a few holes from what they had wanted in horn and guard. But at the same time they also turn people away because they do not have the funds to march a full line. For example Pioneer has 6 contras and that is all they will march because they dont have the money for new horns. Also Pioneer takes in and teaches people how to play horns that do not play them primarily. Im sure this hurts them but at the same time it is a body on the field.

I have not seen Cascades either so I cant say anything about Pio beating them. I have heard they are around the same size as one another. Pioneer has a hard time living down the stereotype of last place.

Pioneer has been the corps people always peg early on as being last all season. They started the 08 season with a 52.1 The 09 season has started with a 59.1 They are bigger and have a higher vet return this season. The last contest they were .2 from Madison and .7 from Spirit in percussion. Will we see Pioneer pull out of last? Please keep negative comments to yourself. I would like this to be discussion.
