And that doesn't even begin to scratch the surface!
There has to be at least 1 song for every DCA corps....
Then there are songs about members in their own corps!
Then and ONLY then, will the can be opened!
None for the Bushwackers and if there is...i've never heard it or heard *about* it...

That rivalry was more potent between 1987-1990 though, It was like a apple and a orange from the same intense tree.
Ugh.
That's why I said "that i've ever witnessed".

Terri, back in the 60s & 70s trying to intimidate the competition was common place. No offense intended but you're much too young to have seen some of the stuff that went on between some of the rivalries back then. Sun, Sky and Cabs at 1978 DCA Prelims comes to mind.
And please, let's keep in mind that these things happened so long ago. I hope no one is trying to open old wounds and that we're all over those things.
Oh no...i'm certainly not insinuating that i've seen the old rivalries...just mentioning what I saw at that moment. I saw remnants of an old rivalry.

Sunrisers/Bushwackers - biggest rivalry i've ever witnessed.
When we came in 4th and Bush came in 5th @ 97 DCAs, our horn caption head made it a point to watch as they trooped us as they exited the field.

Mmmmmm......Kool-Aid......

I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but your loss is still great.
Heaven's drum corps just got that much louder.
RIP Rich, and say hello to Mikey for me.

I don't get it...
Is the show centered around African music?

Well known Rochester Color Guard performer/instructor John DeSimon passed on due to a sudden attack on Monday. John was very much involved in the winter guard area and performed/taught both the Crusaders and Empire Statesmen. Recently, he has been living in NYC. He was 45 years old.
John is the brother of LIbby Ouelette, long time Crusader guard person and wife of former Crusaders guard captain and instructor Bill Oulette.
John was also a member of the Sunrisers' colorguard in the 1990's.
RIP John. Always so sad to lose one of our own.

What rolls down stairs
alone or in pairs,
and over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack,
And fits on your back?
It's log, log, log
It's log, it's log,
It's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's log, it's log, it's better than bad, it's good."
Everyone wants a log
You're gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log
Everyone needs a log
log log log
*whistle*

Some do,,,,,,, some don't.
I know they all wait till Thanksgiving weekend to make the official announcement to the public.
My 7 years with the Sunrisers, we were told at the Open House, held every Sunday after Thanksgiving, which was the day after the banquet.
-
I think the corps that didn't make finals should sit out just like the rest have had to do over the years. If they didn't have a product or perform well enough to deserve a Top 10 spot, then they sit.
Where is the backbone or integrity DCA? Just because Kidsgrove are over here and there is only 11 corps, doesn't mean the rules need to be changed because one corps will sit out. Are you too afraid that corps will complain too much? Flack from fans?
I might be late to the party, but in 1994 we didn't make finals and we were the exhibition corps the next day. And #### proud to be there.
Nothing wrong with that. You're almost sounding like the "11th place corps" should be punished or something.
-
I would imagine that most of the top 10 corps probably have in place many of the major staff members and those key people have a pretty good idea or handle on what they are doing for 2011 and may even have some music and visual stuff in the hopper. Many of the corps members at finals get the announcement of what the show is going to be for the following year from the staff before leaving Rochester. Probably a excellent time to get everyone excited for the following season and get them thinking about winning.
It never ends.
Oh. I was under the impression that most DCA corps waited until Thanksgiving weekend to announce their show for the upcoming season.
That's pretty much what i've been used to.
-
I never marched DCI...mostly because my first full season of drumcorps was in a DCA corps.
No regrets. Some of the life-long friends i've made, i've made in the Sunrisers.

Um, bitter table for one please!
Uh...what?
Dude, take your chill pill. There was nothing "bitter" about that post!!!
-
One point though:
2010: Bucs, MBI, ES, Hurcs, Cabs
2009: Bucs, MBI, ES, Hurcs, Cabs
2008: Bucs, MBI, ES, Hurcs, Cabs
Can this get more repetitive?
Well, that's certainly interesting.
