  1. I have an extra ticket for both nights in Section Q (top stands, side 2), Row 17. PM me to discuss payment and how you would want to receive the tickets. I can have them overnighted to you if need be.
  2. Thanks for everyone help! I have figured out how I'm getting to the camps and everything is all set for me to audition for Crown's upcoming season. Money is still an issue but it has become less of an issue. I have created a fundraising /support/about me website, www.mattsfundraising.com , so I can let people know what I am up to and make it easy to donate. I will be using the money from the donations to pay for my plane flights to Crowns camps. I don't have the entire website up, but I will have it up within the next two weeks. Thanks.
  3. Thanks for the info I will contact Matt after their season is over. I will be trying my best to get two jobs and using my trumpet skills to generate extra cash as much as possible. I agree with everything you said and thanks again for the response.
  4. I completely agree but what about the extra full day of practice Crown and SCV got wile BD/cadets/cavs were at allentown. The judges base their scores off the other night, but they had one full day more of rehersals right. Id say it would only be about half a point lower (in my opinion) if crown and scv went july 31st. I do think it is going to be very close between now and aug 8th.
  5. Alright so yes plattsburgh to albany is a 3 hr drive given moderate driving conditions. So lets assume I leave at about 8am. therfore i should get to albany at approximately 11:00am. This would leave me an 1 hr and 45 min to get through security and get ready to leave. I looked up the times of when the flight leaves and this is what i found: Airline: US Airways Depart: Albany International Airport Departure Time: 14:45, Friday 20 November 2009 Arrive: Charlotte Arrival Time: 16:55, Friday 20 November 2009 Stops: Non-Stop Travel Time: 2hrs 10mins http://www.albanyairport.com/alb_schedules.php This would get me to Charlette NC by 4:55. then crown will have transportation from there to camp. I haven't figured out a way back but im working on it. let me know what you think so far. I know its a stretch, but i have to do it some how. I have decided that I will not be able to do the upcoming season with crown, but i will still go to the first camp to get myself out there and to see where I stand marching and playing wise. I will work toward the next season and will look for another corp to join as well. and again let me know what you think. thanks.
  6. I had forgotten that i was in the middle of nowhere but figured out that i can get a ride to albany and fly out from there.
  7. thank you that was one of the things i was looking for. thanks for the help.
  8. I have not yet talked to any at crown, but I do plan to when their session is over. I don't know what to say to them about the situation. Do you know specifically who I should contact?
  9. Yes I was in the AMB and I know the kids that are in brigs and they enjoy it. I dont know if I would as much. I also know your friend and have talked to him a little, but won't get to talk with him more until his season is over. He recommended that I do a DCA corp, but i decided not because of time and money(although it is less then crown). Thanks for the suggestion.
  10. Do you mean like send a letter asking for money for the purpose of joining the drum corp? And maybe mail a dvd of a drum corp show, so that they could see what its all about? I think is a good idea I might just try that. Thanks for the suggestion.
  11. I realize that most high school band directors are like that, but at my school all of the band directors are have marched in a corp, written music for corps, and/or are judges. I know the backgrounds of most of my former directors fairly well and trust them and their opinions. It will take some time for me to see how things work out, but I will work it out.
  12. Alright I will look into it, but my goal is still going to be Crown.
  13. I have marched for four years in a very competitive marching band and i know it doesn't compare with DCI, but I was told by my director that if I didn't go into a top DCI corp that I might not get the full challenge and experience that i was looking for. He (and I) just want me to be able to push myself to my highest potential. Weather it be playing with constant and good tone quality while doing a jazz run down the field or playing a tricky run before an impact I want to be able to have the challenge put in front of me so that when i look back at my time in a corps that i can say to myself "I could not done anything else better, I did my best". I will go to Crown this year and audition, but if i dont have enough money or dont make it, i dont think that a DCA corp is for me or even another DCI corp.
  14. I would try out for a drum corps closer to home, but I would really like a challenge. As well as the highest number of years, untill i age out, in one corps. I heard from someone that there are fundraisers or other ways to work out financial stuff.
  15. So if I can't get the money by the first November audition I can't audition?. Could I go to the audition to see if I am good enough?
  16. Hey everyone, Well heres the deal, I am planning on auditioning for Carolina Crown in the up coming fall. The problem is I live in NY, am going to college (SUNY Plattsburgh), and have only about $1000 (all my graduation money). I am confident I have what it takes to be in the corp, but I am a little concerned about the financial part of it. I would rather not get into the corp because I am not good enough rather then not having enough money. Its not like I haven't tried to find a job but because of my hectic school schedule I could only have a job during the summer but no one would hire for the just summer in my area. I do intend to get a job when i come back for the winter break, but that either is not going to be enough or I will not get a job because of the economy. Any ideas, comments, suggestions, or anything would be very much appreciated. If anyone is an alum of Crown and has an ideo of how they handle the money issue that would be a great help. Thanks.
