  1. Regardless of any considerations of mismanagement, expect at least 3 additional world class corps to cease operations. Given both industry dynamics and major outside financial pressures contraction is inevitable. At least two of the three will be west coast from what I understand. This is real folks, get used to it. Acheson is claiming ticket sales are up 5% year over year, uh no. Perhaps at legacy shows or TOC, but not across the board. Even regionals showing continued empty seating blocks.

San Antonio looked pretty #### packed to me.

  2. The spread from Spirit is the lowest it has been since June 30th, which was 1.4. I'd love for them to make a late season surge and suddenly get clean, they have two days of cleaning before Atlanta. Saturday could be interesting. Who knows though, Spirit, BK, and Crossmen certainly aren't going to get any worse, I guess it's a game of who can get cleaner faster. This, will be a fun battle to see develop!

  3. So far, they sound great. I just have one question ... what happened with Vanguard? I hear a lot of crackling after the pre-show that sounds like someone futzing around with the mic. It almost sounded as if someone rubbing the windscreen (assuming it had one, of course), but that was obviously not the case. I checked out the stream that's still up and the sound is on there too. Just curious what caused this.

I was there in person, they had something going wrong with the speaker A LOT. It sounded like that sound when you unplug or plug in a speaker (cracks and pops", and it happened every single time they got loud. Dunno what it was.

  4. I have a response to your review about the Madison Scouts...you need to watch it a few more times before making your comments. You may not understand the subtleties of the show or the meaning behind the show. It is one of the most creative shows of the season if you understand it. Once you do understand it, you will appreciate it more. And while I admit, I had trouble with the show at the beginning of the season, I have grown to love it. The corps is so powerful this year. The guard, I agree...they aren't the greatest, and in my opinion, detract from their powerful ending statement. Nonetheless, I love the show and the Scouts are one of my favorites this year. It is good to see them ranked in the top 7...If you go to the Scouts FB page, you may be able to find a podcast where the show is explained in detail by James Mason, their creative director.

Not everyone is going to like it like you do, a majority will but not everyone is, you're just going to have to get over it. Not everyone is a Madison fan. They're doing a fantastic job and scoring where they should, but they aren't going to capture everyone.

  5. Here's my review of Oregon after seeing them in San Antonio:

    HOLY CRAP.

But in all seriousness. Wow, they're performing at such a high level, but what's special about this show is the design. They have such a high range of emotions, musical selections, and themes in this show! The way they blend together is amazing! Not choppy at all IMO. It's not just a color show IMO, the placement of "Sleep" at the beginning, and all the themes at the end including a "Firebird" quote was very clever! Sleeping and waking up. The coolest thing about this show, the acoustic singer and guitar player! They were mic'd, but weren't just a patch on a synth! They showcased a wide amount of talent. The depth of this show design and the HUGE amounts of elements make this show a jewel that's like one of those movies you loved the first time, but can watch over and over and find something new every time! I think this is one of the best Open class designs up there with Academy 2006, Magic 02, ect. They got a huge standing ovation in San Antonio from where I was! Greatly deserved IMO.

And as far as the guard being late, they probably had a bus problem or mis-communication, who cares? It happens!

  7. @megs85114Blue Knights! http://instagram.com/p/NfKFAMvENg/ (wish instagram workedthumbdown.gif)

    DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER

@MitchJindraBlue Knights are just sloppy, get off the field. #sorrynotsorry

@A_Bro_Named_OSo the "Blue Knights" have the "Firebird Suite" in their show...kinda makes me sad...makes me think of my SR year in HS band -Tear-

Someone is quite rude tonight. YOU get off the field, oh wait, you're not a judge. Get out of the stands maybe?

  8. I don't understand where there was any fear expressed here. Is it because I'm a BD parent that folks might think that I'm projecting something here? Because I'm not. All I said was that I'm happy that we see different stuff from diff corps at shows. That's all. I promise!!! I really am happy about that! Pinky swear!

I agree and understand what you were trying to say, don't know why a happy comment causes so much negativity.

  9. I have to ask, were they just REALLY dirty around Stanford or have they changed much besides the closer? I remember watching Stanford I was very disappointed and it felt really flat, visual design was kinda ok.

Now I love it and I think they have one of the best visual and total packages this year. I don't think I've EVER had a show do a complete 360 on me in my mind like this since I've followed DCI. It's weird, I dunno if I just had a bad viewing or what, but now it's my favorite by far. (So awesome I said that a second time. )
