That's how a lot of scv seasons start, though...
Yeah, it just seems this one is starting out a little rougher than the last few.
-
Incorrect. That is how 1997 started.
1998 they were strong out of the gates. In 97 they were awful early season, but finished 3rd.
Gotcha. Sorry bout that. And just for the record, that's some freak weather even for Texas. lol This year's been crazy. We went from -8 degrees to 81 in 4 days earlier this year. Texas is definitively the bi-polar state weather wise.

Sounds like SCV has a lot of work to do. Although, that's how 1997 started, and look where they ended up. Just a thought.

I'm looking forward to this, I've actually enjoyed the Glassmen over the last few years, so this should be epic!

They aren't popular for it, but blue stars have amazing visual programs, look at this year, might not be big picture stuff, but a lot of little things.
Now that you say that, they do. 08 had some pretty awesome stuff, like the bicycle moving at the end of the show, that was pretty awesome. And the closer dril from 2010, oh mai gawsh that was fast.

HEHE, funny how some things bring other things to the forefront of our mind? :-)
I know right?

I am a Trooper alum and unabashed homer and I have to agree with you. It will be really difficult for Troopers to unseat BK, this year! They will be a lot closer than anyone is giving them credit and may actually beat them in one or two shows. I think that BK just has a slightly stronger corps and show for this year but Troop will be extrememly clean and will make BK look over their shoulder once or twice!
As long as what Troopers put on the field is amazing (which I'm sure it will be ) I'd be up for them challenging some of the 9th - 12th. As long as a corps deserves to be where they are placements wise, go as far as you want.

Anything Glassmen 98 - 02 was pretty amazing, IMO.

More of this silliness again?
Phantom Regiment will not have the lowest placement in 37 years. There is no way you can legitimately think that.
1. They have a director who has 2 world championships under his belt.
2. Two people on staff have led a brass caption victory.
3. The new drum caption head is one of the pinnacles of his profession.
4. Jamey Thompson has had a perfect score in DCI Finals for drill composition.
5. The corps is in their best financial status in 15 years.
6. The corps has placed in the top 3 11 times since they last were in 11th place.
Who and when has he written for again?

What videos I've seen of the drum line, it's cooking! I'm excited to see what the guard will be dressed in and the flag choices as well.
-
Back on topic, whether people like their uniforms or not, placement good or bad, they're gonna rock one hell of a show that fans will love for a long time.

They DO have problems. Have you marched corps? Because that makes a big difference in understanding whats going on.
No, but I think it's common knowledge that if all you care about are scores, then that's not a good attitude. And I have a bunch of friends that have and I've never heard once about their staff being angry at THEM because they scored/placed low as compared to them having a bad run. And for the record, yes I know what's going on.
-
You may not, but the staff does.
I really don't think it works that way, if the placement and scores of the corps come first before anything else, then they have some problems.

Seriously? If anything that uniform will cause them to go down a couple spots. Definitely NOT generally effective
And I don't really care about placements. So....go Troll on someone else's post.

i don't care what they wear. they just need to perform the #### out of that amazing music.
Amen.

I disagree completely. I think The Troopers have an excellent shot at beating BK. Not saying that they will, but they sure could. Lots of reasons that they could and plenty of reasons that they won't. I will guarantee you that The Troopers will be better than last year. Despite the recent events with the bus crash, there are lots of things going very well with the corps in regards to the staff, the membership, and the design. Them changing where they rehearse for pre-tour had to help more than anything else.
Conversely, I do not know much about Blue Knights this year except that they are playing Holst suites on the field. I just don't see it, so the jury is still out for me when it comes to them.
We will all know before long though...
From what I'm hearing from some friends in Denver (in BK), I have to disagree. Let's just say that this will probably be the best the Blue Knights have been since 99 - 00, if not better. I love the Troopers, but BK's got quite a show.

Bluecoats drums are my fave. Those are hot.
-
As a fan, I love it because of the people, seeing the amount of emotion in those performers faces, and the intense sound of 80 brass and 20 battery coming together and blowing the hair off your head. Yup.

Good to hear.

Well....
Crown's uniforms from last year were amazing. After you actually look at how they work with everything else on the field, it was great. Personally having worn the fabric they used in the uniform during my last two indoor seasons, it's really not that bad. They can get wet, but it takes forever to dry. Crown this year looks stunning. But when pics get out, everyone's going to be up in flames about them. They're hot, they work with the show.
Blue Devils uniforms are sick. Those are by far the most visually stunning uniform I have seen and it's no surprise it comes from them. I'm not a BD fan really, but the uniform is cool and the music they have out so far sounds awesome.
Troopers...I agree with whoever said they needed something around the waist to tie it together. But they're coming around to the traditional style look of drum corps now despite the fact that their calvary style uniform was classy.
Academy's uniform is kinda a surprise. I think I like it so far though. I'll wait to see how it works on the field but so far, it's really classy looking. Looks too much like a tuxedo though.
THANK YOU SIR! Finally somebody I can agree with.

No way...
Scouts will be able to break into the top for sure! They have the history and current members to do it. Remember, they went from 6th to first from '87 - '88. That could have easily been 8th to first as well based on the Prelims '88 scores. They also went from 14th to 8th from 2002 - 2003. Finally, they went from 15th - 10th during '09 - '10.
They could jump right back into the thick of things this year, depending on the progress made during the off season and the show design. I'd say 6th-4th are absolutely possible this coming year.
I don't think they have a possibility of winning, but they could definitely be a TOC corps if they would even accept the moniker.
The current top 8 (don't start please) will be pretty tough to break into, although it could very well happen. But who cares how they place? Just put on a show like last year and you'll have the fans hearts captured, and that's all that REALLY matters........right?
